When a dog has food sensitivity, it may struggle to digest certain foods properly, leading to symptoms such as:

• Gastrointestinal issues: Diarrhea, vomiting, excessive gas, and bloating.
• Skin problems: Itching, redness, rashes, or chronic ear infections.
• Behavioral changes: Lethargy, irritability, or discomfort after eating.

Hot weather can be challenging for dogs, as they are more susceptible to heat stress and heatstroke than humans. Here are some tips to help keep your dog safe and comfortable in hot weather:

1. **Hydration:** Ensure your dog has access to plenty of fresh, cool water at all times. Consider carrying a portable water bottle and bowl when you’re out.

2. **Shade and Shelter:** Provide a shady area for your dog to rest in, whether it’s under a tree, a canopy, or indoors. Avoid leaving your dog outside for extended periods during the hottest part of the day.

3. **Avoid Hot Surfaces:** Pavement, sand, and asphalt can get extremely hot and burn your dog’s paws. Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening when surfaces are cooler.

4. **Never Leave in a Car:** Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a car can quickly rise to dangerous levels.

5. **Limit Exercise:** Avoid strenuous activities and long walks during peak heat. Opt for shorter walks and play sessions during cooler parts of the day.

6. **Cool Treats:** Offer ice cubes, frozen dog treats, or a dog-safe frozen treat to help cool your dog down.

Animal PoisonLine is run by the Veterinary Poisons Information Service (VPIS) and is the only 24-hour specialised emergency telephone service in the UK dedicated to helping pet owners who are worried their pet may have been exposed to something harmful or poisonous.

Based on the information you provide our vets and scientists will be able to tell you if you need to go to the vets for immediate treatment or whether we can save you the trip.

We have experience of thousands of toxic substances in all animals and cover everything from human drugs, household and garden products, plants, agricultural chemicals to venomous bites and stings.

We are veterinary poisons specialists and therefore, regrettably, cannot help with any other veterinary enquiries unrelated to poisoning.

£35 – £45 per phone call.

£35 is charged 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday. | £45 is charged at all other times including bank holidays.

Did you know that puppies can be weaned onto raw food from as young as 4 weeks old? They certainly can and we’ve helped many breeders along the way. You can also transition your new puppy onto raw food. Just like our latest addition to the Raw Rev family Kasper! (He’s not ours but all the customers babies are my extended family pets!).
He’s already been weaned onto our Puppy Ox Tripe mince and loving it!

He loves cuddles and is very confident! He even fell asleep in the middle of the shop floor and didn’t flinch when more customers walked in!

We can’t wait to watch him grow 🥰🥰
