Yes it is going to be that time of year, with the change in weather. From wet to warm, you can see abscess’s occur more popular. This is because the sole contracts with the warmth , and dirt and rubbish get compacted in the white line from the previous wet environment . Causing bacterial build up and a abscess occurs. #abscess #farrier #asmr #intrsting #trending #countrysidd #contentcreator

With a lot of clients asking about using the HoofBeat, I thought I would do a view of what I see on my screen and what it shows.
What you see at first is the Hoof Pastern Angle at the degree that is measured on the hoof by the sensors.
Then slide two is the point of breakover, this is the point that the heels of the foot leave the ground.
Slide 3 is motion map.
This shows where the foot is loading from the point of breakover to the landing phase.
Slide 4 is a animation from the swing phase.
This is from the front perspective, at the side and from above.
This is analysing the swing of the horses leg. Very interesting to see with different conformation on so many horses.
A lot of variables to be seen by this .
Slide 5 is the stride timings, and this shows how the strides are in time with each other, or if you have a stride that is off. This will show.
What a fantastic bit of kit the hoofbeat is.
I wish I had this years ago when I first qualified, this is certainly going to help with the future of Farriery.

This is Misty.
A successful chronic laminitis story👌!
When I met Misty a year ago , she had chronic laminitis.
I was contacted by a client under veterinary recommendation to come fit some cloggs. On the Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border.
The client was desperate to do anything to get there pony back on the road and it was nice to see a loving family wanting the best for their pony.
So with X-rays a pair of wooden cloggs, was fitted for 2 shoeings, then a sub solar abscessed from the chronic rotation of the lamintis.
We then had to go into a open toe heart bar shoe where I advised a suger and iodine dressing to be applied for a week.
After the sole had hardened up and the rotation was on the way of going back to normal misty could come back into slow rehabbing.
A pair of multi directional shoes were applied with frog support pads and DIM. To provide her comfort back into rehab.
Then the client got the all clear once the rehab was complete to start small work amounts again……
That’s where it leads us today! Misty is back in full time work . The family has the pony that’s been with them for years still alive.
But this is purely not just my work, this is the client aswell listening to advice from the vet and myself, they really did work hard at it .
It’s fantastic to see horses back to where they should be.
