This is Bear he has been with us for a few days boarding, Bear has had a mental block for the last 6 weeks or so, he hasn’t been able to walk up his ramp into the car, we don’t know what caused this or if anything at all.
So Jeff & myself thought we would see what we could do, so happy with the result so far 🤗🤗🤗🤗🐕🐕🤞🤞

Our lovely Flynn is out for dinner with his Mum & Dad choosing his very own poochy pie 🥧 🐶🤗🤗

NOTICE

We been informed that KENNEL COUGH is doing the rounds at the moment probably due to the damp still weather we have had lately, in most cases it can be just like our common cold but in puppies and older dogs it can be more severe.
If your dog shows any symptoms, runny nose or cough PLEASE do not come for boarding or training.

Dogs coming for boarding along with their full vacations do need Kennel cough vaccine

Thank you Jeff & Dena

🌞 The Importance of Training Puppies Outdoors 🌞

Training your puppy outdoors isn’t just about teaching commands – it’s about helping them grow into confident, well-adjusted dogs! 🐾 Here’s why outdoor training is so valuable:

1. Exposure to New Environments: Outdoor training introduces your pup to different sights, sounds, and smells, reducing anxiety and teaching them to stay calm around distractions. 🌳
2. Socialization: Parks and sidewalks bring encounters with people, dogs, and other animals, helping them learn polite behavior and gain confidence in social situations. 🐕🐈
3. Natural Energy Outlet: Fresh air, open spaces, and exercise help burn off puppy energy, making them more focused and receptive to learning. A tired pup is a well-behaved pup! 🏃‍♂️
4. Weather Adaptability: Training outdoors helps them get used to different weather conditions, making walks and outdoor time easier for years to come. ☔️☀️🍂
5. Strengthening the Bond: Sharing adventures outside builds trust and a stronger connection between you and your puppy. 💖

So, grab the leash and a handful of treats, and take your training sessions outside! Your puppy will thank you, and you’ll enjoy a happier, more adaptable dog for years to come. 🐶✨

🎆 Tips to Keep Your Dog Calm During Fireworks 🎆

Fireworks can be stressful for dogs, but a few simple steps can help them stay calm and feel safe. Here’s what you can do:

1. Create a Safe Space 🏠: Set up a quiet, cozy corner with your dog’s bed, favorite toys, and maybe a blanket to make them feel secure.
2. Use White Noise or Music 🎶: Drown out the loud sounds with calming music or white noise. There are even playlists designed just for dogs!
3. Close Curtains and Windows 🚪: This helps block out the flashing lights and some of the noise.
4. Keep Them Busy 🍖: Give your dog a chew toy or a treat puzzle to keep them occupied and distracted.
5. Stay Calm & Comfort Them 💕: Your calm energy is important. Some dogs respond well to a gentle touch or snuggling, but let them come to you if they want space.
6. Consider a Calming Aid 🌿: Calming products like anxiety wraps, pheromone sprays, or CBD treats (if approved by your vet) can help ease their stress.
7. Avoid Walks During Peak Hours 🚶: Plan walks before the fireworks start so your dog isn’t exposed to sudden loud noises outside.
8. Don’t Punish Fearful Behavior ❌: It’s natural for them to feel scared. Instead, reward them when they stay calm to reinforce that it’s a safe situation.

With a little planning, we can make the fireworks less scary for our furry friends! 🐾✨

“Tips to Improve Your Dog’s Heel Work 🐾”

Does your pup struggle with walking calmly by your side? Here are a few tips to help improve your dog’s heel work and make walks more enjoyable for both of you!

1. Start in a Low-Distraction Environment: Begin training at home or in a quiet area to help your dog focus on staying by your side.
2. Use Positive Reinforcement: Reward your dog with treats and praise whenever they walk next to you. This helps them associate heel work with good things!
3. Use a Marker or Clicker: Mark the exact moment your dog is in the right position with a word like “yes” or a clicker sound, followed by a reward.
4. Keep Sessions Short: Practice in short bursts to avoid overwhelming your dog. 5-10 minutes per session is perfect!
5. Consistency is Key: Stick with the same cues and signals for heel work to avoid confusing your dog.
6. Work on Focus: Use commands like “watch me” to help keep your dog’s attention on you, especially in more distracting environments.

With patience and consistency, your dog will be walking like a pro! 🐕‍🦺

Day 6 of Dog Training: Progress and Patience! 🐾

Today was all about reinforcing the basics and building trust with Monty a puppy I’m working with at the moment. We’ve been working on “stay” and “leave it,” and I’m so proud of the progress! Consistency is key, but also patience – some days are better than others, and that’s okay.

Its not just about training the dog, it’s about strengthening the bond. We’re getting there, one command at a time!

How’s everyone else’s training journey going? Any tips for mastering “stay” or any other challenging commands? Drop them below! 👇
