If so, Holly Thompson BHS Stage 3 Accredited Coach is hosting a program this summer here at Forge Equestrian🙌🏻

This training and assessment programme provides you with the basic principles of horse care and how to safely complete daily tasks around your horse and others. For instance some of the things you would be undertaking in your training would be, grooming, feeding, adjusting tack, mucking out and much more🐎

Silver Lungeing your horse

What an amazing day out for our 2 apprentices Zara and Callie🎉

They both went out competing today for the very first time, with our very own Murphy and Bellamy🐴 they both did a super job and even came home with 2 rosettes!🥇🥉

It was great to see so many of team forge out supporting the girls and cheering them on📣

We are all so proud of you both🥳

This is your first BHS riding assessment. This award makes up part of the BHS Challenge Award and is required to be taken before BHS Stage 1 and 2.

Congratulations to Mariah, Leah and Madison who passed their BHS Ride safe exam today!🙌🏻

This is a huge problem this year with the increase in temperatures its making them even harder to keep at bay. Keep checking your horses and ponies as they can make them so uncomfortable 🐴🐴

LICE!!

They can literally suck the life out of your horse or pony.
They are as destructive as internal parasites but aren't talked about as much.
They are not a reflection on cleanliness.
One of our wee ones has lost condition. He's wormed, treated for lice, teeth done and on grass. But he was still holding a fluffy winter coat, so I worried maybe the louse treatment hadn't been effective.
The wonderful Aaron Campbell Equine Clipping Services called this morning and took his winter woollies off.
There were no lice visable, until the clip was nearly finished. Under his mane there were still some hiding.
He will get another treatment now and his herdmates will get rechecked.
It's important to remember also to treat a second time, 2 weeks after the first treatment, to kill any newly hatched critters.
And if your pony has lice, please tell the owners of any herdmates. Please, it's not something to be embarrassed about. It's the only way to stop them, if the whole herd is checked and treated at the same time.

Thank you Aaron for your time, patience and expertise this morning. Even sitting on the stable floor to get the legs and belly 🙈
