❤️🥹 Wow look at our Walt!! 🥹❤️

Walter has gone from strength to strength, he’s a totally different dog to the one we collected just before Christmas.

Walter’s eyes have improved loads, as have his ears, gums and overall health. He’s brighter, more full of energy, trots around the garden like he owns the place 🤣 but he’s still such a cuddle bug and loves nothing more than affection and love! ❤️

Walter has gone on trial to his forever foster today, now that we have a clear plan for his health moving forward it’s important he begins to settle where he’s staying! At 14 years old we’re determined what ever time he has left is spent loving life, be that eating yummy foods, snoozing or sniffing every blade of grass there is to be sniffed!! 🥰

Walter is settling in amazingly so far. He’s got a new big bro, gentle giant Wilbur, who I definitely wanted to steal but I couldn’t quite fit him in my pocket 🥴😅

Forever foster means that Walter will remain under the care of Chirpy’s Allies for life. Due to his health and age we understand the need to provide for Walter, and we feel honoured to be able to do this with your help! Forever foster includes paying for his needs for the rest of his days. Walt might need heart medication at some point in the future and is still currently on medication for his eyes until they have totally healed.

Huge thank you to his foster family for offering such a beautiful home for Walter and understanding the needs of an older doggy might be little bit different.

If you’d like to donate towards Walter, or any of the animals in our care, please do so via the below details:

🕊️Polite notice🕊️

We are currently closed to any wildlife needing rehab / sanctuary.

There’s only me (Rosie) who does the wildlife at Chirpy’s and I have an upcoming week away with my family (first in over 2 years!). Due to this I need to wind down and luckily have the gorgeous Steph from Pigeon are friends looking after the birds we do have in rescue while I’m away.

The inbox will still be monitored by Becca and Wes, but I will be switching off the week because I rarely get to spend this amount of time with my little boy, and it’s his 4th birthday!! 🎉 so I need to totally switch off ❤️

If you need any help with wildlife please look on www.helpwildlife.co.uk

Thank you! ❤️

❣️IMPORTANT❣️

Could you foster a cat for us? 🙏🏼😸

Fostering is one of the most rewarding parts of animal rescue. Seeing an animal go from strength to strength and then move on to their happy forever home is such a special way to support rescue and animals in need! The more people that foster for us, the more animals we can help!

Do you have:

🏡 A secure spare room
❤️ Time and love to offer a cat

All of our cats must be kept indoors whilst in foster, most will be receiving veterinary care / on medication. It’s important that they have a secure, safe space to settle in. We can provide all the things needed to help you foster, veterinary fees are covered by Chirpy’s.

Please reach out if you think you could foster!

We need your support to help as many animals as possible. Thank you 🥰

❤️ Walter update ❤️

We’ve been back at the vets with lovely Walt this morning for a check up. This lovely old lad is looking so much better than the day we collected him.

Poor old Walt looked like he was on deaths door the night we picked him up, he wasn’t in with the other dogs at the address and was curled up alone on top of a dog crate. He couldn’t even open his eyes 😢

His eyes have improved loads, there’s still an active ulcer in 1 eye but it’s getting there. He’s had his antibiotics and eye drops extended to clear them up fully. His gums are looking less enflamed and sore too! Sadly we don’t think he’ll survive having a dental, so he may just need to stay on antibiotics and pain relief for the time he does have with us. He may also need to go onto heart medication at some point as he has a stage 5 heart murmur, luckily though his lungs are clear!

As you can see from the last photo he’s settling in with our resident doggies and enjoys a cuddle with our softy sighthound Casper - he’s much more alert, active and responsive to us now.

We will possibly be looking for a forever foster for Walter, where he can live out his remaining days, he’ll stay under Chirpy’s and all costs will be funded by us. So if you think you might be the perfect person to offer him a loving home please do get in touch.

Walter is good with other dogs, cats and children. We do only want homes with children 7+. A quiet home where someone is around most of the time is what he needs.

We have huge upcoming vets bills so again, if you can spare even £1 it helps… please see our details below ❤️

😻 Our favourite happy cat, Maggie, wanted to say good morning on this bright and fresh Monday morning!

For those of you in the strange state of not knowing what day or time it is, she’s here to remind you it’s Monday, and Mondays deserve a frown 🤣

Even though Maggie frowns 99% of the time, I promise she’s happy inside and has come so far with both her health and her inner frown being turned upside down… 🥰

We love you Maggles Moggles ❤️

🍯An update from Honey’s foster Mummy🍯

“Little Honey has been with us for a week now and she's settled in beautifully!

She can jump up onto the sofa & the bed by herself, she can get in and out of the backdoor (which has 2 steps!) on her own and can find her way around quite easily now😍

Her favourite things are belly rubs, treats and my beanbag 🙃

We'll be absolutely heartbroken when the time comes to let her go to a forever home, but for now she's as loved and spoilt as our own dog 🖤

Please consider a donation to Chirpy’s Allies to help with the ongoing costs of all the animals in their care. Honey will also need to be spayed, have a hernia repaired and a dental in the near future ❤️”

Thanks so much to Zoe and Steve for all their hard work so far in fostering Honey, she has landed on her paws going to them on foster!

Honey will cost us a fair amount in vet fees yet, and we will make sure she’s had all of her issues resolved before she’s placed up for adoption. If you’d like to donate towards the animals in our car, including Honey, please consider doing so via the details below:

It’s been a busy day for us today at Chirpy’s!

To kick start the day we visited Davies Court Care Home in Dinnington, they very kindly did a collection for our doggies so we wanted to go and visit them in person to say thank you! It was a win win, our dogs loved the attention and the residents loved meeting some of the dogs. Thank you again to the lovely staff and residents for supporting us and welcoming us on our visit!

Little old Walt has really improved! His eyes are brighter, he barks now 🤣 and he’s such a love bug! ❤️

Next up a special delivery for Solstice and Bunny, their very own doggy buggy! Huge thank you to Kathy Mullin for sending this to us, these 2 precious girls can’t do a huge walk with the 2 other resident dogs but they love getting out and about. In their new ride they can join every walk now 🤣

We’ve also stocked up on dog food and supplies, as the dogs need to put on weight we’re giving them the very best food and gosh are they enjoying it!! Bunny has already put on 100g which might not seem like much but she’s tiny and has improved so much!

Our lovely Michael has also gone into foster today so we hope he settles in well!

Now we plan on having a much needed lazy evening 😴❤️

My beautiful friend and supporter is sending us one from Amazon, thank you so much Kathy Mullin❤️

Does anyone have a pet stroller they would be willing to donate to the rescue or if anyone is selling one cheap as our funds are so precious at the minute with all the upcoming vets bills we will incur 💸💸💸

It’s needed to help two of the dogs in foster adapt to a new way of life and help them gain confidence in the big wide world 🐶🥰🌍

What a lovely Christmas 🥹🎄

This Christmas has been incredibly special for all of our animals, but in particular it’s been special for our doggies and cats!

The dogs are all starting to slowly come out of their shells, and all enjoyed a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings 🥰 what a change for these precious souls! They have gone from hell on earth to pure heaven.

I’m pleased to update Walter is starting to open his eyes, his medication is taking affect! He’s also more alert and eating well. He demolished his dinner yesterday! He managed to jump up onto the sofa with me too, I was shocked to see such a frail blind boy launch himself up with so little effort 🤣

Next up Holly and Ivy, they too are settling well and getting more used to their foster mum. They’re learning to give paw and sit, and enjoy time outside in the garden exploring. They’ve had a magical Christmas with their foster family and are learning to trust slowly with the comfort of still being together.

Bunny and Solstice have had a wonderful Christmas, they’ve enjoyed their first walks, met the resident doggies in their foster home (now they’re getting more confident) and have enjoyed spending time with their foster family. They’re both learning to trust still but they’re getting there! ❤️

Honey is doing amazingly. Her eye is healing well and she is loving life. This girl is genuinely so special and full of love. She adores her foster mum and dad, and her 2 doggy siblings 🥰 she’s had a wonderful Christmas, full of love and attention, something she’s not experienced before.

Michael the p***y cat is doing well, he’s settled in nicely but does still need a foster home! He is the most gentle boy and is starting to put weight on now he’s getting regular meals and not living on the street as such an old gent.

Mags, well she’s just the grinch 🤣 but she’s ours. I tried to encourage her to come downstairs yesterday but she was having none of it and scuttled back upstairs to the windowsill her favourite spot 🤣

We also have Cleo, Sophie, Tiger and Rocky in foster, all waiting patiently for their forever homes! They too had a wonderful Christmas thanks to their foster families 😻

Hope it was magical for everyone! We of course must push on with our fundraising as we have some enormous vet bills pending, dentals being the most costly looming over us… if you would like to donate towards the animals in our care please do so with the below details:

🧡 Could you offer a foster space? 🧡

Gorgeous older gentleman Michael needs a quiet foster home, he must be kept indoors due to his ongoing health concerns and ideally be kept close to Maltby or be willing to bring him to our vets in Maltby.

Michael is neutered, fiv/felv negative, microchipped and worm / flea treated. He is friendly with other cats and dogs.

Michael has a heart murmur and has recently had a dental so is still recovering from that.

He’s the most loving and affectionate boy ever, all he wants to do is love. He’s such a cuddle bug ❤️

If you think you could make Michaels Christmas by offering him a foster home, please do get in touch. All costs of care covered by Chirpy’s 🧡

🎄 Wishing all of our followers, supporters and animal friends a wonderful Christmas! 🎄

You’ve made this past year possible and have helped so many animals by picking up injured animals, sharing and donating.

We’ll remain busy over the festive period, but it’s what we love doing! And the animals make it all worth it! 🥰

Big thanks to the incredible rescues that we’ve worked with this year for all their hard work, in particular Laxey House Bird Rescue - Scunthorpe, Pigeon are friends, Windy Ridge Bird Rescue, Bedlam Farm Wildlife Rescue, Luis Smith, BEST LIFE Dog Rescue - Reg. Charity No. 1197504, Linjoy Wildlife Sanctuary and Rescue - Midlands and Adoptapaws UK Rescue.

We’ve been on some crazy rescue missions this year, twice I’ve fell in a river / pond and lived to tell the tale… 🤣 we’ve laughed and cried hard together… I hope all my rescue friends have a truly beautiful Christmas, cos you deserve it!

Huge thank you to our vets for their dedication towards helping the animals in our care - Gonda's Veterinary Practice and Southwell Poultry Services. Our animals get the most fantastic care and we really are blessed to have 2 very special vet practices supporting us.

We’ll leave you with this repost of Maggie’s gorgeous Christmas photo, don’t be fooled by her grumps, she’s actually thrilled to be Chirpy’s mascot 🤣

Love and best wishes to all,

The Chirpy Team - Rosie, Rebecca and Wes ###

🥰 Poochies Update 🥰

Apologies for the lack of updates, we’ve been crazy busy! Here’s a summary of where we’re up to:

Walter - Confirmed on his chip he’s 14 years old 💔 it’s not good news for Walt, he’s got a grade 5 heart murmur, ulcers on his eye balls (that’s why he won’t open his eyes) 😢 his blood work indicates a start to kidney disease, his teeth have rotted and fell out, those remaining are barely attached, he’s also got an ear infection and is very under weight. So Walt has a cocktail of drugs and will be back at the vets hopefully between Christmas and new year. He’s the most gentle baby in the world. To say he’s blind and deaf he knows when I’m not there and will come looking for me and ask to be picked up. He lays on his back like a baby and snores with his tongue out 🤣 I can’t lie, little Walt has broke my heart. The suffering he’s endured, the suffering all 32 endured is unimaginable. We just keep promising him he’ll have nothing but love now for how ever long we’re lucky enough to have him with us.

Bunny (tiny cross) - what a character… she is the most magical little weirdo we have ever met. She’s got such a stunning personality and all she wants is love. Bunny is around 10 years old, she’s got horrendous teeth, a urine infection, urine scald and scarring all over her back legs, an ear infection, mammary tumours and photos don’t show at all how painfully thin she is. She is skin and bone 💔 but gosh does she grab life and live it, she’s so sweet and happy! Bunny has also got a cocktail of medication and will need a dental and spaying.

Solstice (white and grey) - little Solly is around 10 years old and is the healthiest of the lot! Her teeth need a scale and polish, she’s very thin and has had lots of mats removed, but overall she’s going great! She is terrified of the world, and needs constant human affection. So Solly will be looking for a very special home where she can live her life out as the centre of her persons universe! Sol will also need spaying.

All 3 poochies had bloods done today, we’re still waiting for 2 of them to come back. I’ll post an update on the other 3 tomorrow but they’re all doing brilliantly in foster. Again, huge thank you to their foster families… we couldn’t do this without you!

The bill today was £360, we had £45 donated directly to the vets (thank you so much) so the bill would have been £405, and this is just the start of treatment… so far we have raised around £1600 which is incredible, but with spays / dentals / vaccines and chips needed, we desperately need to raise more, and we need your help doing that. Even £1 helps.

A heart felt thank you to everyone who’s commented well wishes, encouraged us onwards, shared, donated and just been so kind and supportive. You keep us going!

🤍 Holly and Ivy Update 🤍

We can’t quite put into words how different their lives are now. Honestly, you would never know that up until Friday they had lived their lives in such a terrible place with no time outside… none! They’ve lived among their own filth their entire lives 💔

On arrival at the property Holly and Ivy were in a crate together, with no other dogs, making not a peep, in a room with 30 other dogs that were going insane barking. They were terrified.

When we picked them up they urinated through the fear of being handled by us 💔 They were dirty, smelly and clearly very underweight. They’ve both seen the vet and have a severe ear infection and are on strict diet guidance to encourage putting some weight on.

We believe Holly may be Ivys mum because she’s so protective over her, hence us keeping this pair together and getting them straight into foster. We’re pleased to report doing brilliantly in foster, as you can see they’re being spoilt rotten!! 😭 They even had a trip to the offlead yesterday (secure field) video in comments. Can you imagine the joy they felt being so free? 😭

Both Holly and Ivy are on antibiotics for their ears, they’ll need grooming, spaying and chipping. We’re thankful this pair were rescued at the young age they are, before they too became breeding machines. They will have the best lives now, full of love and happiness.

HUGE thank you to their foster mum Rachel Lucy for not only fostering them, but for driving 3 hours in total on Friday to support us. She’s also paid for their first vet visit (naughty foster mum)… we’ve debated who’s paying until we’re blue in the face 🤣 so a heart felt thank you to Rachel for stepping up in a way we didn’t imagine anyone could. You’ve really gone above and beyond.

No dogs are up for rehoming yet, any messages trying to apply won’t be referred back to.

If you’d like to donate towards the care of these precious dogs, please consider doing so via the payment details below. We need your help to sort these fur babies!! 🥰
