Why It’s Great

I recently had the pleasure of working with the lovely at peeps at Trumbles , their zone of genius is great dog food, do check them out, as well as fab dog food they have a HUGE selection of the most amazing looking, natural dog treats!

Making nose and paw balms? I can't be sure but probably not their zone of genius!! (Although it isn't always the skills we lack but the time).

There’s a lot to be said for playing to your strengths though, and preserving your precious time and energy for the things that you do better than anyone else can and I was happy to take the strain for Trumbles where this shiny new product for their shop was concerned. When we work together the magic happens.
I loved working on these balms for Dee at

She creates the most amazing artwork ( I have one of her drawings hanging in my hallway of myself and my 3 dogs. We are down to 1 dog now so it is extra special.)

Dee provided the image for this new product for her shop and chose the super luxurious rosehip and calendula balm ( a great all rounder, moisturising and soothing with freshly infused calendula oil)

The whole thing was made a reality with labels created and printed by Dave and Claire at . Stickerdrops have designed and created all my labels for 9 years now and as a small local business I can even walk down to collect them. Win win all round.

One’s a daily essential. The other’s a doggy first aid kit must have.

Nose & Paw Balm – the everyday hero. Softens, soothes and protects dry noses, cracked paws and rough elbows.

Soothing Salve – the problem solver. Bug bites? Scratches? Mystery itches from the brambles? This is your 'don’t panic, I’ve got this' tin.

How to Get My Dog Balms & Salves Without a Business or a White Label Order?

When I shifted The Dog and I to focus purely on wholesale and white label, I genuinely thought that was it for retail. But I’ve had so many lovely messages, including from long time customers who’ve been using the products for years, asking if there’s still a way to buy.

I have also been asked about DIY label products and wanted to extend the platforms I can be found on.

So here’s what I’ve done.

1. You can now buy retail again

I’ve added a small retail section back to my website — just my three core balm and salve products. Perfect if you’re buying for personal use.

2. Ready to Label now available on Faire
If you’re a small business and want to brand your own balms (but don’t need full white labelling), you can now order ready to label batches of 30 on Faire.

You’ll get full compliance info, and it’s perfect if you want to design and print your own labels or use a service like Avery.

I'll still be focusing mainly on white label and wholesale but this felt like the right thing to do, especially in the current economic climate.

They’re all part of the guest experience at Sunnyside Cottage , where Rachel Spencer makes dogs (and their humans) feel truly at home. Honestly - it sounds like THE best dog friendly holiday cottage ever. I have only been to Yorkshire once, on the way back from Scotland last year, but it is definitely on my must go back list. Beautiful.

A spring walk. A distressed dog. A reminder of why I do what I do.

One spring morning last year, I took Willow for a walk through our local woods. It was nothing out of the ordinary until we got home where she was restless and wouldn't settle. She was scraping her paws on the carpet, clearly uncomfortable and distressed yet there were no cuts, no signs of stings or anything obvious.

I decided to pop some of my Soothing Salve on, it is full of infused oils made from herbs that are known to help with various things, including stings and itching! I kid you not - within 5 minutes, she was curled up, fast asleep. Amazing!

It reminded me that sometimes the best things can come in small packages — especially when they help someone feel better and my point here is that you can do this for your clients and customers too.
