Fall can bring its own set of dangers for dogs! Here are some potential hazards to be aware of:
🍄Mushrooms: Wild mushrooms can be abundant in the fall, and some are highly toxic to dogs. Keep a close eye on what your dog may be sniffing or eating during walks.
🍁Fallen Leaves: While not inherently dangerous, piles of leaves can hide hazards like sharp objects, animal waste, or even other toxic substances.
❄️Cooler Weather: The colder weather can be hard on some dogs, especially those with short fur. Keep an eye on your dog's comfort and consider providing them with a cozy sweater or jacket.
🌒Shorter Days: Shorter daylight hours mean that you and your dog may be walking in the dark. Make sure to use reflective gear to stay visible to drivers.
🛢️Antifreeze: People tend to change their car's antifreeze in preparation for winter. It has a sweet taste that dogs may be attracted to, but it's highly toxic.
☠️Rodenticides: As temperatures drop, rodents may seek shelter indoors. Using rodenticides to control them can pose a risk to dogs if ingested.
