When the most difficult time comes it is beneficial to know the pro’s and cons of
the two forms of euthanasia having spent years in the profession and experienced both hundreds of times ,also speaking to lots of owners I am well placed to write the below

EUTHANASIA BY FREE BULLET

THE PRO’S

Instant ,brain is dead

No stress on horse/pony

One stop shop for euthanasia and collection

One set of fees / often cheaper than collection following needle

CONS

A bang

An amount of blood mitigated by operator

EUTHANASIA BY INJECTION

THE PRO’S

No blood

No bang

CONS

Two sets of people to organise vets / collectors

Excess stress on horse/pony

Excess cost needle euthanasia expensive +collector {often carries extra cost also }

Non instant ( when having a general anaesthetic you are told that you will feel a very strange feeling going up your arm ,you can compute as you are human , you can not explain that feeling to a equine) barbiturates injection stops the heart , brain function is the last thing to stop .

What ever you decide is the best option for you I am here to assist you in either of the above options , to make it as easy as possible for you at the most difficult time .
