A little insight into another area of our farm....

The Countryside Stewardship Scheme is a government-funded initiative in the UK that supports farmers and landowners in managing their land in ways that benefit the environment. The goal is to protect and enhance the natural landscape, promote biodiversity, and improve habitats for wildlife.

At Little Lodge Farm, we have committed to a new plan under the scheme to encourage environmental conservation. We are focusing on:
• Increasing biodiversity – Supporting a variety of plant and animal species by maintaining diverse habitats.
• Improving habitat – Enhancing areas for wildlife to thrive, such as meadows, wetlands, and hedgerows.
• Expanding woodland areas – Planting and maintaining trees to provide shelter and food for wildlife.
• Encouraging natural wildlife – Creating environments that support species like deer, foxes, and smaller mammals.
• Flora and fauna – Protecting wild plants to sustain a balanced ecosystem.
• Ground-nesting birds – Ensuring safe nesting areas for species such as lapwings and skylarks, which need undisturbed ground to breed successfully. Various seed mixes for wild bird food.

As part of this initiative, 80 acres of set-aside land, which accounts for half of Little Lodge Farm’s total land, will continue to grow naturally, supporting wildlife and looking visually stunning.

This approach not only benefits the environment but also enhances the scenic beauty of the farm for visitors and guests.

Yesterday we held our first @britshowjumping academy training session in our arena. @glh_equestrian focused on flat work and combined jumping using a central grid to really get the horses thinking and bending. Excellent sessions! The frost didn't cause a problem either with our amazing @combiride surface. #britishshowjumping #suffolk #showjumping #training #combiride
