Krystal 🔮
Wow what can i say 🤭 we have found the inner horse that was locked away. Pat and Krystal’s bond is becoming stronger and stronger and the trust in the partnership is ever growing.

Krystal is really starting to take leadership from Pat and looking to her for comfort and Pat’s confidence is building with her to.

How relaxed Krystal was being led away from her field buddies today by Pat was brilliant 🤩 how far they have come

Quinn 🍁🍂🎃
Last week i had my first session with the lovely Quinn. I dont think she is quite 3 yet and already huge!

Last week i was going to work on desensitisation with a rug so she can have a rug on over winter. However we quickly discovered she wasn’t happy at all being away from her field buddies so we worked on other stuff. We did alot of standing, lowering of the head, encouraging lick and chew to promote relaxation.

This week we focused on groundwork and tapping into my emotions (im ok, your ok)

I did some simple groundwork (backup, move shoulders away from me, disengage hind end) before we even left the field as Quinn definitely seeks comfort being “on you” 🤣 she isnt no little bubba anymore, thats alot of horse

We then progressed this through the yard, stopping when needed for some time to recollect ourselves, ending in the arena. ALOT going on as other horses were keen to come see her. We had the chicken coop next to us with the electric fence sparking on the metal wire.

It was a HUGE ask for her and she coped well. Not only did she cope well but she then started to relax and take direction with some good distance from me.

Quinn was amazing 🤩 and she is such a sweet natured horse. Clive she will MEGA when she is older

Teddy 🥰
Oh this horses is just incredibly sweet. Today i helped him perfect his loading skills as he had become a little sticky. Teddy can be tricky to read as he is very introvert and has a tendency to hold in his emotions and shut down. I helped him out of this and overcome his loading worries

Todays sessions ⬇️⬇️

Beauty 🍁
We started with some in hand lateral work to supple her up before our flatwork session. We then worked on getting some nice bend on her difficult side introducing loops and circles to help soften her. We are seeing great changes in her way of going and suppleness

Chukkie 🎃
We also started with in hand later work to create some more hind end engagement. Once Sandra was on board and warmed up we worked on rein back into trot to really get Chukkie moving his juicy butt and getting that activity going

Teddy 👻
We took this young chap for an in hand hack. Christelle really wants to be able to hack out alone so we took Teddy out and helped him frel comfortable to be brave away from his friends. We also gave Christelle some tips to help her be able to do this on her own with him and what signs to look for when he is getting a little worried

Ruby 🍂
We helped Ruby feel confident in loading onto a trailer. Previously the owners have been able to get her so far but the trailer was too much of a pressure point with her for her to want to go all the way in. Ruby’s owners have done alot of groundwork with her which made my life sooooo much easier. She was a super star and was very brave

Chewy
A 3yr old Welsh D has been with Cheryl since he was about 5/6 months old. Very sweet and not bolshy or pushy - is he aca Welsh 🤣🙈

Chewy has had a very natural life living as a pony with a fantastic TB brood mare as his surrogate mummy - she has taught him well!!

Today we learned …. A new human 😳 putting a halter on …. Who is she this weird person 🤣

We taught some pressure release, back up, my space is MY SPACE, disengage hind end (got that easy peasy), move through shoulder around me - not so easy, doesn’t give a damn about tippy tapping with the whip but terrified of the flag so we had to desensitise 🐴

Ended the session with some relaxation, lowering head, licking, chewing, lots of yawning 🥱 baby boy done well

Krystal

In four days we have gone from a shut down horse that cant cope leaving her field companion and is inconsolable. But now we have a calm, relaxed horse that now interacts and looks for human comfort when she is concerned. Krystal is so relaxed and walking out nicely on her own. I am hopeful that she will get there as a happy hacker 😊 Friday she goes home and i will equip Pat with the tools she needs to continue their bond and training at home

Krystal - Mounting Block Session
For a horse that had such bad separation anxiety keeping her feet still away from her field companion was near on impossible let alone standing by a mounting block

Today Krystal found calm, rest, relaxation and to trust. You will see at the end that even when i walked away she felt no need to want to move from that place

Lovely session with Teddy today
Teaching him what my body language means and lots of desensitisation to the lunge whip.
Teddy got a bit worried about the whip and what it meant so we taught him its not to be feared.
We also taught him with our body language when to pay attention to the whip and when it just doesn’t concern him

He really is a treasure this boy 🥰🐴💙

First session with Krystal
Krystal suffers with separation anxiety and is very shut down to humans - what life she had before Pat we cant even imagine but Pat has worked hard to build the trust in humans again!

Today i worked with Krystal to find calm and relaxation in her body away from her field buddies and with a human. We had a lovely moment of connection towards the end and i felt like for the first time she actually noticed me and was with me for a moment- it was very special 🥰

Today we have taken in Krystal for her 5 day intensive. Many of you have seen previous posts with us doing some groundwork!

The aim is for Pat to be able to hack out on Krystal but at the moment this isn’t possible due to her separation anxiety plus being an unknown entity its potentially not safe to do so!

Now im no miracle worker so im not going to say that we will have her out hacking in 5 days but she is here for some intensive training and to really make a good start in heading towards that direction. That said, every horse is different and progresses and learns at a different rate so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️
