Yesterday was truly a day I will never forget.

💚Stormida Squirrels For Tea💙 - Margot won the Reserve CC under Judge Becky Candler, gaining her studbook number and qualifying for Crufts for life! Thank you for appreciating her Becky, I am so grateful that she finally showed in the ring the same enthusiasm she shows at home.

But to do it behind Miuccia gaining her crowning CC was the icing on the cake. (For non-show friends Miuccia is the whippet from Italy who won the Best in Show at Crufts this year and returned to Britain for this show to win her 3rd CC making her a British Champion.) A pinch yourself moment just being in the Challenge with her.

As well as winning Graduate Bitch, she also won Special Beginners Bitch, but not to be outdone, litter brother Sampson 💚Stormida Neon Tiger💙 won Special Beginners Dog under Judge Maggie Holder, qualifying them both for Whippet of the Year next January.The irony being that the Reserve CC rules us all out of Special Beginners’ going forward but what a way to go out with a bang! 😊.

I’m so proud of these two, but also a quick mention to big brother Cyril 💚Stormida The Brave💙 who won Graduate Dog at Bath last week, setting the ball rolling for a hattrick of Champ Show wins for our little home-bred team within a week. Truly the stuff of dreams!

Congratulations to all of the winners and everyone in the cards, but a special mention to Sarah and Grandad Fred (pictured) in winning Best Veteran In Show – quite a day for the family!

Thank you for all the lovely messages and all the hugs – I’ve been truly taken aback and will never forget it - and also to Ellen for the lovely pictures (and your patience!). Thanks also to Catherine, Maggie and Fiona for the 4 hours sleep and the slight hangover – do we need to do this before every show now?

At the risk of sounding like I’ve won an Oscar, just one final thank you to my lovely friend Carol who set me on this showing journey with her love and infectious enthusiasm for the game and I’ve never been prouder than when ringing her with the news afterwards. This one’s for you Carol xx

Where better to spend a sunny Spring day than in fab company at Malvern Showground!

WELKS Champ Show 2025
💚💙 Sampson won his Graduate Dog class under our breed judge Jo Strong-Mackenzie and Margot picked up £20 for 2nd in the AVSB Stakes.

We even had our first foray into the KC Breeders Competition. Think synchronised swimming for dogs. On grass 😂.
Thanks to Maggie and Elaine for brilliantly handling Cyril & Sampson. I'm not sure trying to do it with three different coloured dogs is the way forward, but it was great fun nevertheless 💚💙

Well done to all the winners today and to Jo for two super line ups!

A wonderful couple of days at Crufts with great company and amazing dogs, capped off with with a brilliant best in show win for the stunning whippet, Muiccia 🥰

No luck for our boys this year but thrilled with a VHC (5th) for Margot in the Graduate Bitch class of 28 lovely girls, under Judge Arne Foss.

We had an exciting day down at South West WC Champ Show yesterday, with all three of the gang in the cards at our first Champ Show of the season.

💚 Stormida Squirrels For Tea won the Graduate Bitch class, Stormida Neon Tiger was second in Graduate Dog and big brother Stormida The Brave was third in Post Graduate Dog. 💙

(Huge thanks to Aunty Sarah for Margot's last minute movement session and the new lead position!)

A really well run, friendly show with great prize money and gifts and a friendly welcome from the enthusiastic committee!

Congratulations to all the winners! 👏😊🎉

A great start to the year for our little homebred Stormida show team at the Coventry Ladies' Kennel Society Open Show under Judge Stephen Goodwin (Lanola).

Cyril, Sampson and Margot all won their classes, giving us the nice headache of having to find additional handlers for the Best of Breed Challenge! (Big thanks to Cy and Kathy for stepping in to help out so brilliantly!)

Margot won Reserve Best of Breed and then went on to win the RBOB Hound competition (thanks again Ellen for telling me about it as I was packing up to go home 😆).

Lovely to see Ellen and our BOB winner Gem go on and win Hound Group 1 as well! A great day for the whippets and a great time had by all. Happy New Year! 🎉🎊🥂
