💥 Cats & Exercise!💥

Cats can be very sedentary animals, particularly if they are kept indoors.

On average, a cat will sleep an unbelievable 12-16 hours a day! It is therefore important that like us, they take regular exercise to prevent disease & illness, but also to prevent boredom!
Yes, believe it or not, cats can become bored too!

There are a number of signs to look for that are indicative of a bored cat, these are;

Overeating
Anxious behaviour
Over grooming / licking themselves
Destructive behaviour
Stressed out
Chasing other animals in the house
Inactivity

There are however several ways to overcome this & to stimulate our furbabies in to action, a few examples of these are;

Give lots of cuddles / attention - A cat is fun to play with!
Toys / Catnip! / A wand toy is excellent for a cats instinctive stalking & pouncing behaviour
A catio to allow them to climb outside
Hiding treats around the house for them to hunt & find
Play fetch! / A laser light to chase

This is not an exhaustive list, but it is intended to give an awareness of this behaviour.

Our furbabies are intelligent animals & just like humans, can become easily bored so need that stimulation!

Hope this helps.
Natalie.😻

Cats have been a big part of my life for over 20 years now... Meet Reggie, Stanley, Daisy & Saffy! All but Reggie are rescue cats & all have had their respective, but common issues which have been overcome with time, understanding & patience. Cats are intelligent animals but their behaviour is often misunderstood or misinterpreted by a lack of understanding. This can result in an unhappy cat owner if the behaviour is destructive or, an unhappy cat if the animal is stressed. Worse case, this combination can result in the animal being given up or, being sent to a shelter for rehoming. Cats however can be trained if you understand their behaviour traits and issues can be overcome... do not underestimate them!😻🐈
