Dogs are dogs. They're not fur babies. They're not children. They're dogs.

That doesn't mean I don't love my dogs. But for their sake, respect that they are dogs. Treat them well, but treat them as they should be.

People humanizing dogs is actually what's getting a lot of them put down, rehomed, dumped, and loaded with behavioral issues.

The best way to honor and love your dog is to respect the fact that they are different from us. That's part of what makes them so amazing!!

Bringing home a new dog and giving it whatever it wants, whenever it wants, is not setting them up for success. It may feel good to "spoil" them. I get it, but what you're actually doing is creating a brat.

I hear this often: "My dog bit our friend on the couch because he thinks the couch is his." OK, who let them think that? The dog didn't just waltz in and claim your couch. The dog wasn't given boundaries to begin with. I let my dogs on the couch, but if I tell them to get off and go to their bed, they will without hesitation. They've earned that privilege based on respect, trust, and understanding.

If you want to "spoil" your dog, do it by setting them up for success. Exercise them, give them boundaries, give them a job, and give them what they actually need instead of the latest squeaky toy. The time you spend playing with your dog means more than the toy itself.

Love your dog. Cherish your dog. Respect your dog, but for the love of the dog, TREAT THEM LIKE A DOG.

**AN ABSOLUTE MUST-READ!** Shared from Richard Lemon

Your dog gets absolutely nothing out of being competitive for you. Not a darn thing. Of course dogs are bred for specific jobs, or they’re bred to be athletic to a certain degree.

They have no idea how much money is added to the pot. They have no idea that this is a qualifier. They have no idea that this is the World.

And DESPITE us... DESPITE our nerves, our flaws, our incorrect cues, our huge emotions, they get the job done to their very best ability. Even when we fail them by letting our emotions get in the way, they come back and they try again. For US. Let that sink in. If only we could all be so understanding.

To think of an animal that is forgiving and flexible enough to put up with the repetition of practice, the intense nerves of the handler, the stress of hauling and they will still meet you at the end of their lead ready to go is MIND BLOWING.
If you haven’t done so lately. Thank your dog

If you’re successful, thank the dogs that put you there and made you. Thank the dogs that gave everything they had for you simply because you ASKED them to.

If you’re still on the journey to success, thank the dogs that made you fall in love with your sport and who have helped give you the confidence to want to learn more and be better.

We can never stop learning as dog men and dog women, and by continuing our education. Every dog in our future will be better off.

Next time you head to the club, leave your ego at the door and thank your dog!"

Highly recommended Mel at Holmelea Hydrotherapy
Took my pup today for a swim confidence session as I spend a lot of time hiking and swimming is an excellent way to keep the dogs cool and fantastic exercise for them
Mel has a lovely way with the dogs and really builds their confidence up

Amber is lovely , she has such a lovely way with dogs ..I wish her all the luck with her new venture and if anyone is looking for a groomer pls contact Amber 😊

Hi there, Welcome to Best in Show Dog Grooming!
My name is Amber and I am a dog groomer based in Retford.
I have had a passion for dogs for as long as I have been alive, living with all sorts of breeds and learning about their individual personalities. I have wanted to work with dogs my whole life and am finally setting up my business.
I pride myself on giving my clients the most comfortable and happy services possible, I treat all my clients as if they are my own furry companions and remain patient with even the most challenging dogs.
I will not push a dog too far out of their comfort zone and will always do my best to get them used to the products and services offered to them.
My goal with my grooming is to eventually become mobile to support my clients in the best way that I can but for now, I am working from home and raising the money towards my goal.
Please feel free to check out my page and give a follow! Everything helps🐾

🥎Ball throwers!
⁉️They're great right?
🥎 They save you bending down.
🥎 You don't have to pick up and carry wet, slobbery, slimy balls!
🥎 It's the only way you can tire out your energetic pooch!

❓ But a what cost?
🐾 Repeatedly throwing a ball can cause long lasting joint problems, sprains and strains and early onset arthritis.
🐾 Chasing after the ball at full speed then coming to an abrupt stop can tear dew claws and graze the carpal pad (stop pad).
🐾It can also escalate behavioural problems in breeds with obsessive tendencies, such as collies and spaniels.
👮‍♀️We don't wish to be the fun police, playing with toys with your dog builds bonds, the interaction you both have is fun.
❓ Think about other ways of playing with the ball rather than just throwing it constantly? Get your dog to sit & stay whilst you go ahead and hide the ball in the grass / behind a tree. Then send them to go find. Or randomly drop the ball whilst you are walking and send them to go find.
🧠👃 Engaging their brains and allowing them to sniff, mentally tires them out. This can be more beneficial than just physical activity.

If you do have a dog that is showing signs of pain, is elderly and slowing down
