Buddy
My very dog filled weekend ended with a 121 with my little pal “ buddy “ a collie / kelpie cross ! some of you may recognise him from last weeks class
Buddy had an horrific start to life and missed all vital socialising so by the time Julie rescued him he was terrified and reactive to everything outside , he had learnt that by barking and lunging that everything went away
I do believe that in his genetics he’s very triggered by movement too !
A very reinforcing behaviour for a dog but obviously a wrong choice
I sent Julie away a few weeks ago with homework of getting more engagement more fun more play outside as buddy was so tense and fixated on everything he found it hard to even take a treat
This video may not look much to some but to buddy , Julie and I it’s massive steps In the right direction 💙
11 am reactive good behaviour class
Ty to everyone that came you have some smashing dogs 💙💖
Reactive dogs need exposure whether it’s fear based , genetic , lack of socialisation or over frustrated greeters check out Todays reactive good behaviour classes
8 dogs in each class all needing a little guidance
A few boundaries and a lot of engagement building between handler and dog
Ty to all that came I hope you all enjoyed it
Keep building that engagement all your dogs did so well ❤️ 10 am class
Todays ASBO DOGS reactive class 8 reactive dogs all learning how to behave around people and other dogs in a safe and enclosed area ! We worked on more engagement and focus on the owner , how to walk to heel then added distractions brought the dogs in closer , weaving in and out the group , walking towards each other Stephanie Alexandra from VisionK9Training and myself would like to thank each and everyone of you for trusting our methods of training and hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did You all worked really hard and smashed it Can anyone see a dog reacting ?? Or fearful or stressed ? All managed beautifully by their handlers ❤️
Socialisation walk Sunday 27 th Oct
What a beautiful autumn morning and fantastic group of dogs and owners for our social walk today
Ty to all that came
This is what it’s about teaching dogs to be calm and neutral around others whilst walking in a pack
Would you believe there’s at least 7 of the 14 dogs there that were anxious / frustrated greeters and reactive ?
Well done everyone ❤️
Ty to each and all of you that turned up for the rather damp puppy/ social walk with training
Hope you all enjoyed it ❤️
All puppies were amazing doing environment training round the market and town
Followed by some recall training and neutral socialisation in the park
9 month old and enormous already
Missy the Great Dane was taking her owners for a walk literally and jumping up constantly and lunging at people and dogs
We spent time with no distractions teaching missy lead pressure and where heel is
Then proofed our work by going round the market
Fab work from owner and missy ❤️
One year old snoopy was also getting used to taking his owner for a walk literally dragging her
These dogs are very nose driven and constantly want their noses on the floor
We showed snoopy some lead pressure and again where heel is
We worked between treats and praise for the good behaviours he displayed and lead corrections when he tried to pull
Really well done for your first session
Puppy socialisation walk with training
Puppy socialisation walk with training from this morning 😀many welcoming distractions with a race going on in the park at the same ! Pups all different sizes all learning how to play / read dog behaviour / neutral socialisation and focus on the owner and switch off from outside distractions
Brilliant group Ty very much
See you all soon
Ty to each and every one of you who turned up for my social walk
What an awesome bunch of owners and dogs
We started with several reactive dogs / couple of anxious dogs and some hefty pullers
You all did amazing 😻
Ty hope you all enjoyed it
Highly recommended Mel at Holmelea Hydrotherapy
Took my pup today for a swim confidence session as I spend a lot of time hiking and swimming is an excellent way to keep the dogs cool and fantastic exercise for them
Mel has a lovely way with the dogs and really builds their confidence up
