A massive Thankyou to Park Hall Vets.
Recently we had a litter of puppies born of which there was as there sometimes is a runt. To start with I took extra care to make sure he had extra time with mum when feeding. As he came to weaning I noticed that he struggled with the raw diet that the other pups thrived on. I started to feed him separately and realised that not only did he appear to be in discomfort when swallowing, he would also regurgitate and eat the food several times before eventually getting it down. I took him to my vets off 30 years, they diagnosed a rare condition where a blood vessel which should dissolve during the the early stages of development had formed a band around his esophagus which meant he could only swallow liquids. His outlook was bleak an operation at a specialist centre was going to cost £11000 which for us was out of the question.
Park Hall Vets went above and beyond to try to turn the situation into a more positive outlook. Most of the vets at the practice had never seen this condition and had only heard of it whilst studying at university. So they pooled their CPD money and paid for a specialist surgeon to come in to their practice for the day and demonstrate new techniques and state of the art equipment. Whilst there he operated on the pup as part of his demonstration. This was a risky procedure as some of the equipment that would have been used at a specialist centre was not available.
I thrilled to report that he has made a good recovery so far and will soon be re homed as part of the deal. I signed the puppy over to them when I dropped him off.
Once again a heartfelt Thankyou to all the team at Park Hall.
