CALLING ALL SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS ON PORTLAND (UK)

I have been reviewing my strategy for 2025 and the need to reduce costs and increase footfall and overall sales.

I feel that Portland needs a boost but we are unlikely to see any support from wider county activity due to all the other priorities.

I am considering setting up a Small Business Owners Forum.
It's main purpose (to be fully explored but my initial thoughts are:)
*to drive better awareness of local services and businesses through shared marketing activity
*to provide a supportive network to help business owners work through business challenges
*share skills to reduce the need to 'buy in' services (e.g. my background is in recruitment and HR so I could offer support on recruitment, interview and selection plus setting up development plans)

I am aware of a number of groups in existence but I am not sure they are fully utilised......

Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce.....hold regular meetings but at times I cannot attend. Some of you may attend and could share the info with others.

Isle of Portland Small Business Information provides lots of links and info to other sites but is generally an info share. Perhaps we could review more thoroughly and see what could help us.

www.dorsetgrowthhub.co.uk is funded by the Council and supports local businesses with consultants through events, online tools and 1-2-1 consultation. ( I will be attending my first event on 22 Jan to see what is on offer).

If you feel there is any value in setting up our own group, have ideas about what it should look like or would like to get involved, please contact me though Facebook, private message or in the shop.

For those of you who have regular orders, please ensure you have confirmed your requirements as we will miss 1 weeks delivery due to how the holidays fall.
