We're starting to see more of the summer weather this week, so it's even more important to make sure your pet is always hydrated. Make sure you have plenty of water bowls filled up throughout the house and garden in warmer weather.

Blue-green algae is a type of bacteria found in water, such as ponds and lakes. It can be found throughout the year however it typically builds up during warmer weather.

It can look like green bundles, brown dots or a blue-green scum on the surface of the water. If ingested it can be harmful and affect your dogs liver, so look out for symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and weakness if they've entered water. And see a vet immediately if you suspect your pet has been in contact with blue-green algae.

Grass seeds can become very painful for your dog, and tend to be more common in the warmer months when the grass is longer and you're spending more time outside.

To help prevent any grass seed injuries for your dog, try to avoid areas where you can see grass seeds growing, make sure your dog is well groomed so you can spot anything lodged in their fur and check your dog carefully after each walk.

We've been lucky enough to have some warmer weather recently, and we want to highlight the importance of keeping your rabbit cool in the heat and what to do if you spot signs of heatstroke.

A couple of steps you can take to help keep your rabbit comfortable are providing shade for your rabbit at all times and making sure they always have plenty of cool, clean water.

If your rabbit is showing signs of heatstroke, take them to your vet immediately.
