One of our lovely vet students Kelly Fahy needs your help:

“Do you have 5 minutes to help a final year vet student with a research project? I’m launching a survey to better understand how pet owners decide what to feed their dog or cat and what is most important to you when choosing a food. Please click the link or scan the QR code to find out more information! This survey will close on March 1st 2025.”

‼️🚨Cool Case Alert 🚨‼️
Splenectomy

These lovely chops belong to Luath, a gorgeous 8year old Tibetan Terrier who we saw a few months ago for major surgery. 😮

Luath came to us with a history of vomiting 🤮 her poor owners couldn’t understand why so we utilised our fabulous CT machine to look at Luath’s insides 🤓

We found nodules, small lumps, on her spleen. The spleen is the large organ responsible for storing the blood 🩸 in your body and our furry friends have them too.

Nodules can develop into cancerous tumours and poor Luath also had some worrisome blood results so Karen made the decision to operate and get more samples from inside her body to send to the lab. 🥼

During this surgery it was decided that it’d be best to remove Luath’s spleen to prevent any spread of disease. 🦠

Thankfully, her lab results 🧫 🧪 came back as non-cancerous and she has made a full recovery following her surgery ❤️‍🩹

We love Luath and are so happy to see her doing so well. 🩷💙🤍

🥗 ✨New Year New Me;
Furry Friend Edition✨ 🥗

This handsome boy is Finn. ♥️
A 1year old Labrador whose owners have truly worked some magic 🪄 alongside our team to get him from a whopping 44.6kgs down to 39kgs 🥳

Because of their fantastic work Finn is the poster child for our ‼️BRAND NEW‼️ Nutrition Consultations. 😋

Veterinary Professionals estimate that over half of the dogs in the UK are overweight. 😱 This can cause joint diseases such as arthritis, gastrointestinal issues and also heart issues for your furry friend. 😢
It is also known that overweight dogs live significantly shorter lives. 🕰️

Swipe to the end for a sneak peak into Finn’s past
😦 as you can see he is greatly improved since he started his journey. He is more full of life and now has decreased risk of joint, mobility and heart issues with just this small change.
Finn’s owners have brought him in to see us every two weeks for weight checks and feeding guides over the past 4 months. ⚖️

If you think your pet could do with a new year kickstart why not bring them down to the clinic for weight checks free of charge and chat to our reception team about our nurse consultations.

Can’t wait to see you 😃

Prepare them with a safe space to hide and let us know if we can provide any medication for them.

🎄🎅🏼😱Less than One Week to Go

We’re sure things are starting to get stressful for those of you hosting on the big day but we’ve got a little trick to put up your sleeve. 🤫

pPet RemedyPPet Remedyis a favourite product of ours in clinic. The formula uses natural roots and plants to trick your pets nerve cells into thinking they are getting a message from their brain to calm down. 🧘‍♀️

As you can see from Practice Pup Roo’s calm demonstration. We use the sprays, wipes and diffusers in the clinic to help your pets feel more relaxed. 😎 We know how much the hustle and bustle of Christmas Day can stress out your pets so let us help you to help them.

Pop into clinic to buy any of our range of products and treat your furry friends to the gift of relaxation 🎄🎅🏼

🎄🩺 All I want for Christmas is a Locum Vet 🩺🎄

Karen and Olivia have jetted off to America and England to visit their families for the holidays but rest assured we have a wonderful Locum vet coming to take care of the clinic while they’re gone. 🙌
Everyone meet Robert 😁

Robert is a very experienced vet who graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 1980. He owned a practice in Kelso with the same colleague for over 25 years treating pets, farm animals and horses. 🐴

He’ll be with Karen and the team on Friday the 20th and running the show with some of the team on Monday the 23rd and Tuesday the 24th for any festive frazzles you might have 🎄

Robert has told us a little 🤏🏻 about himself so you can all get to know him a bit better:
“After my years of working I'm now semi retired, I still love animals and find myself helping out as a locum where required.
My hobbies include walking and volunteering with the Water of Leith Conservation Society. We have 4 children, 4 grandchildren, 2 cats & a dog to keep us busy and I also volunteer with Stockbridge Scouts.”

We’re very excited to be working with Robert and know the practices and your pets will be in safe hands with him supporting Nicola, Natalie, Georgia and Angela. 🥰

🎄🎁Gift Responsibility 🎁 🎄

Nala, Pippa and Goose are here to bring you all some festive cheer. 🤩

They’re also here to remind you of the importance of not giving pets as gifts this Christmas 🎁

Dogs Trust and Lothian Cat Rescue are amazing charities who truly believe that pets are for life and not just for Christmas 🎄 They close for rehoming requests from the 1st week in December to prevent animals being taken into homes that they may not stay in. 🏠

We want all animals to be loved all year round and are thrilled to continue working with these charities to ensure this happens. ♥️
