🐶♥️ ✅ Pawfectly Healthy Puppies ✅♥️🐶

We love puppies here at the clinic but we love it even more when they’re happy and healthy. 🥰

To help you make sure that you’ve got the right information before you pick up your newest furry family member, we’ve put together some top tips to ask the breeder about their puppy 🐶

🪱😮🪱Tapeworms 🪱😮🪱

If you’re on our Essential Care Plan or have been to visit us recently for Anti-parasite treatment you might have noticed we’ve given you a new product to protect your pawfect pets from nasty little friends. 🐾

Quantex is the new tablet we’re giving you and it has replaced Milbeworm for our fully grown patients. 🙌

It is given every six months to cover against all species of tapeworm and keep your pets safe. ⚠️

The drug is suitable for cats and dogs. 🐕 🐈‍⬛
For medium and large dogs we give one tablet per 10 kilograms of body weight.
This means you may be needing to use slightly more treats to entice your pets to get their teeth into the extra tablets required to cover them. 😋

Here at the clinic we know how much the Corstorphine community means to us and you 😍

We just love helping local charities and just as we did last Christmas 🎄 we’re partnering with the Corstorphine Christmas Support Project by being a donation point for food, household and Christmas items.

The Christmas Support Project helps our families who might be struggling more this time of year.🫂

This year we’re also accepting pet food for the project. 🐱🎄🐶

If you have anything spare to give this year please do pop into clinic to donate. The box will be with us until the 13th of December. 🥰

Claire - Client Care Team
This lovely smiley face is Claire(and her gorgeous boy Diego), she has joined our team alongside Abi and will be on the other end of the phone and WhatsApp’s for any advice you may need about your furry friend. 🐶 🐱

Claire’s exceptionally experienced and has worked in veterinary practice for many years and is super excited to join us and get to know you all.

Outside of work Claire loves nothing more than a walk outdoors listening to music or a podcast, swimming, and catching up with friends for a coffee or glass of wine ! 🍷
Claire also love films and will not go a week without a visit to the cinema. 🎦 😮

Abi - Veterinary Care Assistant

Everyone meet Abi our fantastic new VCA. She’s the woman responsible for how sparkly and clean our Clinic looks 🧼 she also helps out with making sure your furry friends have comfy beds and lots of cuddles while they’re hospitalised with us ♥️

Abi has worked in lots of veterinary roles including Vets4Pets, dog walking, grooming, and pet sitting. 🐕

Abi loves nothing more than to make sure that you and your furry friends are comfortable and cared for during their visits with us and we’re so glad to have her joining us ♥️

Today is Bridei’s 24th birthday 🎁 🎂 this makes her our oldest patient at the clinic. ♥️

She’s the sweetest girl and we love her very much. Her owners have told us that she will be spoiled with a birthday tea and treated like the queen she is 👸 ♥️

🔥 🎆 Guy Fawkes Night 🎆🔥

We know how stressful firework night can be for furry friends and their humans.

Some tips to make the evening more manageable
✨ De-sensitising new puppies to fireworks by playing fireworks videos on low volumes and rewarding your pup with treats.
✨Pheromone sprays or plug ins such as Pet Remedy or FELIWAY
✨ creating a safe and quiet space in your home with beds, blankets and toys to allow your dog somewhere to hide when things get too much.
✨Anti-anxiety or sedative medications 💊 all available from us or your local vets.
✨ Calming music 🎶 Classic FM are running a pet calming program from 5pm -9pm on Saturday the 2nd of November and Tuesday the 5th of November.

🎃👻Halloween Spookies 👻🎃

We love Halloween at the clinic but we want your furry friends to have as much fun as you. 🐾

Your pups’ paws should be kept well away from the toxins mentioned in this post. 🤢 If there is any worry that they may have got their jaws into Halloween candy please give us a call as soon as you realise for us to help them as quickly as possible ☎️

‼️🐾Cool Case Update 🐾‼️

Remember Callie, our first time mum we introduced you to a few weeks ago?
This is her puppy Bree. 🥰
Bree is an extra special pup for us here in the clinic as she is a little different.

Callie's owners phoned us on the morning of her puppies birth to tell us that little Bree had a deformed front leg. 🦵
We asked Callie's humans to send us some pictures and unfortunately Bree's deformed limb appeared to have occurred from trauma in the birth ca**l rather than a malformation.

This means we saw Bree very frequently for the first few weeks of her life to perform bandage changes and check ups on her.

We couldn't tell at that point how much of an impact Bree's leg would have on her because she was just so tiny. 🐶 We did know that because of the type and location of her deformity we would likely need to operate on her when she got older.

We had a hunch that little Bree would be a fighter and how right we all were. ♥️ She took it in her stride, learned to walk and run and wrestle just as well as the rest of her her siblings.

Because of the close connection we had with Bree we worked hard with Callie's humans to find a suitable and experienced owner for her forever home. Enter, Liv's friend Jen, a wonderful and well experienced vet nurse. 👩‍⚕️
Bree has now had her operation to fully amputate her deformed limb and has recovered so well. The full amputation removes any risks of infection or injury. 🥰
As you can see her and practice pup Roo are best buds♥️

Natalie - ClientCare Team and RVN

Everyone meet Natalie, thats right we loved the first one so much we thought we'd get another. ♥️

Natalie is a fantastic asset to our team. You'll be used to hearing her voice on the other end of the phone with Angela and Georgia by now. ☎️

Natalie has been a nurse for 30 years! We can hardly believe it either. 😮 She has worked for mobile vet team VetKind and many clinics as a jack of all trades locum.
She's a smiley face on our front desk two days a week and a smiley face in the consult rooms on Wednesdays where she runs our nurse clinics. 🏥

Like Nicola, Natalie can do everything from nail clips and a**l glands to post op checks and nutrition consults. 🍏 🍌
Her passion lies in OAP care. She cannot get enough of your senior pets and helping them live out their Golden years comfortably and happily.

🔑 Keyhole Spay 🔑
Practice pup Roo has been helping us produce some informational content for you all. ♥️

Here at the clinic Karen and Liv can both perform Laparoscopic (keyhole) spays. We offer this service to our own clients as well as on a referral basis (tell your friends 🤫).

There are many reasons we recommend spaying female dogs including reducing the risk of cancers, unwanted litters and pyometra, a life threatening infection of your dogs womb. 😔

However there are also a few reasons why we recommend Keyhole spays specifically for your female dogs.
🐶 It is less painful for your furry friends.
🐶The incisions are smaller and result in a less invasive procedure.
🐶The overall recovery time is faster than routine spays.

Olivia does a wonderful job explaining the procedure in this video. We understand how scary it can be to leave your pets with us so hopefully this can give you a better idea of what happens when they spend a day with us. 🥰
