Although we will be closing for appointments at 2pm tomorrow, our vet, Lindsay, will be on call until 6pm when our emergency provider, VetsNow, opens.

Hill City Brew will be open 8:30am-2pm, come and get your Christmas Eve coffee and sandwich fix☕️🥐🥪

It’s Rabbit Awareness Week! This week was created by the Rabbit Awareness Action Group and Burgess Pet Care, to raise awareness of responsible rabbit ownership. So we’ll be posting throughout the week some information for rabbit owners (or future owners!) who can use these resources when required.

This year’s theme is ‘Healthy Diet, Happy Bunnies’, with the aim of highlighting how the lives of pet rabbits can be improved by feeding the correct, balanced diet. Swipe for more info!

Murphy relaxing in his first appointment with us! This delightful boy was adopted a week ago and was in for a routine checkup yesterday. Because of his luscious long locks he is prone to some hair matting on his chest and stomach - which we clipped for him. Luckily he loves getting brushed so his routine with his new owner will be regular brushing to prevent future mats from occurring!

Regular grooming can also help reduce the incidence of fur balls, so it’s a win-win situation for him! 🐾

**Parvovirus update** We have been made aware of several recent cases of parvovirus in and around Edinburgh. It is a highly contagious viral illness spread through the faeces of an infected animal and symptoms include bloody diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy and anorexia. Please be vigilant and update your dog’s annual vaccinations and if have a puppy less than a year old consider additional parvovirus vaccines to further boost their immunity. Welcome Dr. Julia Henken to the HCV team! Julia is the director of Eye Right Referrals, a brand new, independent Veterinary Ophthalmology service in Central Scotland. Her clinic runs on Mondays at Hill City Vets and she will be available in other clinics across the Central belt 5 days a week including 24/7 cover for all eye emergencies.
