This rescue was set up to help the plight of pound dogs, these are dogs that are on 'death row' in UK pounds. This includes dogs that have been abandoned, surrendered or left to stray. Some have only 7 days to be reclaimed by their owners. If they are not, they are put to sleep. The enormous number of dogs, mainly staffies

on 'put to sleep lists' lead us to want to help these unfortunate family pets. Few people realise that many healthy dogs, through no fault of their own, are being destroyed if not claimed within the week. The name poundies
Poundies are dogs that are abused, dumped, abandoned; unwanted souls that find themselves with 7 days to live in, generally, appalling conditions. Named ‘poundies’ as these conditions are council pounds across the UK that are ‘home’ to these dogs awaiting their death. Many people are under the impression that a dog must be "bad" in some way to end up being dumped and in a council pound; have a look at the photos and updates of some of our available pound dogs in their foster homes and of our own dogs most of the volunteers that help this rescue have pound dogs living in their homes - proof that this is not always the case.

Please note if you adopt a dog from a rescue please be ready to put time into training and letting them decompress. Too many times dogs are given up for reasons that can be solved with time, training and effort.

Who was the staffie that made you fall in love with staffies was it your own or one that you met.

Here is the one that made me fall in love with the breed. My 1st staffie Roxy 1 who came to me sadly due to a friend who was admitted to hospital but passed away and his family didn't want her. Best little girl ever.

When you've got all your toys out and mum decides she wants to play but you say nope not getting one of my good toys. You can have my old tatty rope toy say adoptee Zarha.

When your fur brother has a stick and you have to have it then he runs to mum to clype on you for stealing it. Milo " mum mum mum she stole my stick. Tell her to give it back " Adoptee Skye " your just a tell tale Milo. "

When you know mum has a camera but you still don't care. Adoptee Bear says bothered am I, bothered.

We think Adoptee Winston is definitely loving his new loving forever family home.

Dogs are such amazing things. Here is Adoptee Clara(white) and her fur sister Adoptee Poppy both older ladies but Clara just amazes us at SSR and we love getting to see her defying the vets and loving life. Her mum gave us this update. Love this pair 💕 Let’s not forget that Clara is nearly 14, has chronic pancreatitis, and is riddled with cancer, the most serious of which is a tumour taking up two thirds of her liver and which contains multiple blood tumours within that. Vet said on 4th December it would be any day now, definitely only weeks. I don’t think anyone has told Clara!
