The girls love a cube bed but they prefer it to have many hand crafted holes. The girls are so much more destructive than the boy. Anyone know why? Is it a nesting instinct or something?

Then over Christmas while we were all home together we witness much cuddling.
3 of Bob and Illy's babies went to keep an old boy on his own company and their new owner tells me they have all settled in really well together.
Now we have a new Savic cage and my future breeding stock.
Among them we have The girls. Moet. Cristal. Azena and Kenko.
And the Boys. Maxwell. Dom, Dow and Egbert.

And before we knew it was time to introduce Bob to he sons. Bob was very good and intros went really well.

Bob and Illys babies grew so quickly and very soon Paddington was helping me work out the colours we had created. Champagne was a bit of a surprise.

Exactly 22 days post putting Bob and Illy together we had an arrival of 13 little pink souls.

Where Caffe Crema Began...…..
The Journey to Caffe Crema Rattery probably in truth started many many (trying to not give may advancing years away) years ago to mention. I was attending Milton Agricultural college to do a B-Tec in animal care, when I left school. We had a variety of animals we were learning from and about, but none fascinated me as much as the wonderful character of the Rat. I just loved these cute character but as I still lived with my mother I was not allowed one! A good friend of mind had a lovely Rat and I would go and visit him often and enjoyed playing with him. But lucky we are now more enlightened about the housing and care of rats and unlike my friends Rat who lived alone we know that these special social creatures have to have a peer group of friends
So back to present day. I began my search for Rats on google like many. I knew I was not going to Pets at Home and I wanted to find a good breeder of Fancy Rats in my Area. I was rather keen on a dumbo variety. Well it was not to much tapping away on the key board before I came across "Ouzles Stud Rattery and Rescue". The page was very informative and helped me so much. After much reading I made contact with the lady behind Ouzles, Paddington Burn. Paddington was so nice and suggested I got onto the Ouzles Stud Rattery and Rescue page and I would be able to meet lots of like minded people and read all the questions everyone had asked before me. Well everything was there, from housing to bedding to food to introducing new Rats to an established colony you name it, it was there!
So I put my name on what seemed like a very long waiting list to adopt 3 female rats. I was not daunted by the length of this list, if anything it confirmed to me that this lady knew her stuff and produced strong and health beautiful rats!

Well not to long after this I noticed a post Paddington had put up on the group asking if anyone would be interested in taking on the breeding of the colour variant "Coffee" which was dwindling in numbers. I was so excited I thought "you know what I can do that" I love genetics so the preservation of this line really excited me. So a few days later I was on my way to collect my very first Coffee Rat pair from another very lovely lady who I have met through the Ouzles page Hayley Wainwright. So a trip in the car later and a stop off to collect some food from the lovely Paddington Burns house. Illy and Bob (Mac Daddy bob) came home to me and the creation of Caffe Crema began...……
Thanks for reading this long post. Keep posted for more up dates with loads of pictures to find out how we all got on!
