Christmas has arrived, and that means it is time to check your list twice. I hope you are all in fine voice for a carol or two, and preparations for a culinary feast are underway. May the Christmas Season bring only happiness and joy to you and yours. And may you be adorned with the gift of love, of peace, and of happiness. A pupdate photo of mumma Darcey and Alique's (BLR CH Alain Delon Genstat at Shannessie) girl, Wallensis Kalan Gwav, Luna, now five years' of age having celebrated her birthday last month. Wonderful that she still loves a teddy. The litter toy that she took with her as a pup is still her favourite comfort toy, despite the many years of loving. How adorable is that. Luna is litter mate to Mumma Mabel, both so alike.

A truly beautiful pupdate from Kathrin and David, on sweet Bryn, Mumma Audrey's boy blue, Wallensis The Conqueror. What a handsome young dog he is, now seven months of age, very much like his mumma.

"Just a short note to wish you a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy 2024. Bryn is very settled with us and his big sister, Belle. He graduated puppy class in October and we will be signing up for the junior class in the New Year. He had his first holiday in November, staying in a cottage in Somerset and enjoyed walks along the promenade in Weston super Mare. Today he had his first “proper” groom and, as you can see, was transformed from teddy bear into Mini Schnauzer; who knew he had eyes hidden under those eyebrows! He is my sixth dog and by far the most affectionate, a real loving little lap dog. Thank you for breeding such a loving, loyal little boy. We adore him ❤️ Have a super Christmas. Bryn sends his love to Mumma Audrey."

A miniature schnauzer is a 12 - 14 year commitment, not a fleeting "it might be nice" and is certainly not an after thought, a "what can I purchase for Christmas?". If you cannot commit to life and all that entails then consider a pet with a shorter life span and responsibilities that you can meet ....

From 10 months to six years of age the girls have all got clear BVA health checks, they are clear of congenital cataract which is fabulous news. Breeding responsibly, breeding right. Thank you to Dick White Referrals Specialist Veterinary Centre, to Georgina and the Ophthalmology Team for enduring the chaos that was. 💖🐾💕

Many congratulations to Mumma Mabel’s boy Billy graduating from JustPuppies Training School ‘s Puppy Foundation Adolescent class. A course which gives older pups the opportunity to learn their foundation skills, with some added lead work and focus techniques. Billy and mummy have worked on curbing Billy’s enthusiasm on meet and greets. Many congratulations what a fabulous achievement. Mary Evans 💖🐾💕

Snow globes are a rightly loved decorations of the festive season. Please be aware that some contain a substance toxic to dogs that could prove fatal. So, should one be smashed and your dog ingest the liquid please, please, do not delay get to a veterinary practice immediately. DO NOT wait and see if symptoms develop. There is no surefire way to way to know if a snow globe contains ethylene glycol, so better to be safe than sorry.

Dogs must be treated within 8 to 12 hours of ethylene glycol ingestion, as delayed treatment usually means kidney damage has already occurred and the prognosis is typically poor. There are three stages of symptoms:

Within 30 minutes to 12 hours, your dog will appear drunk, may drool profusely, and there may be vomiting, seizures, and excessive thirst and urination.

Between 12 to 24 hours, these symptoms may appear to get better, but your dog may have an elevated heart rate, labored breathing, and dehydration.

Within 36 to 72 hours, kidney failure may begin to occur with symptoms of severe lethargy, coma, depression, vomiting, seizures, and drooling.

So keep globes safe and out of reach from boisterous pooches to avoid heartache and costly vet bills.

If anyone walks in Nene Park, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, on Tuesday hundreds of thousands of fish washed up dead in the Golds Lane area. Please be cautious and/or refrain from walking your dog there at this time for your and their safety. The park does remains open. With guidance being "We are advising visitors to keep away from the water and ensure dogs are kept on leads”. Sad needless destruction. I am sure there will be news bulletins / updates as to the clean up and when it is deemed safe. Please do not enter the water. The chemical involved is unidentified with members of the public reporting instant and severe irritation from direct contact with the fish and water. Be safe. 🐟🐾

And so it begins, for us the close of the show season and the commencement of preparations for our moment on the hallowed green carpet of Crufts in March 2024. Show girls’s coats are now stripped to grow a new with vibrance and colour so they are at their beautiful best, for their three minutes of glory strutting their magnificent stuff, that we might hold our heads up high and say that we turned out the best we could. What a journey our showing antics have been from first show with but a dog and comb to this……

Nice way to close the show season at Ladies Kennel Association championship show. An entry of 64 fabulous mini beards. Betsy did well in a strong class. However, today was Gertrude’s day being awarded a reserve by Judge Jill Peak in puppy bitch and went well in the any variety of dog junior bitch stakes under Judge Mr J Luscott (Jalus) 💙💚🐾💕 thank you for your love and support Nic Gill
