In a super selection you have 2 accessories attacks and one face (stick attack). If you work both days that s 6 attacks where you as a decoy start the exercise… ( 8 if you count the flees).
The videos show how i worked on both days , apart from the first day sticking attack.
When you start the exercise as a decoy a big part of what you do there and then is to demonstrate that YOUR WAY of attracting the dog doesn’t make the dog depart early. Think of it… the DEPARTURE has points! It’s scored in the scorebook and your job as a decoy is to try and make the dog and handler loose those points. In a superselection, with that many occasions of the similar routine, you CANNOT start the exercise in the same way.
You have to demonstrate that your are versatile enough to try different ways to try and get those points.
The way you do it is also dictated by how many times you ll have to do it. This prompts what distance you are going to start (10-20m allowed), how much effort and technicality you will put into it. A club competition with 9-10 dogs would make me start the exercise in a certain way, whilst a world championship cat 3 , 60 dogs would make me do it a different way. And in a superselection you have to demonstrate that.
Though the videos you can see that each start is different…it doesn’t look the same.
Its easy to talk and think about it, however, resilience is very important. A successful or unsuccessful performance in an attack can easily change your mood/thought process and you can easily fall into the trap of trying to get to the attack faster and miss this important part.
Overall…you gotta dictate the pace, the intention and raise the opposition to the required criteria. Always plan ahead…at least in your mind, and you ll be successful.
