CAN ANYONE HELP Kirstie Hawkins with this pls??

Hey Tilly’s meadow, just wondering if anyone in the group would have a ‘STRONG’ extra large dog crate or pen that we might be able to borrow.
I was wondering if you might be able to post this into the group for me.

Does anyone have a ‘STRONG’ extra large Dog crate or Pen that we could beg, steal or borrow?
Our little girl can get out of this one 😤
(Only needed whilst she is recovering from Cruciate surgery)

Someone that does the not so easy dogs!

I took my 3 dogs to Rhianna for their groom.
Storm has many tangles due to her fur being extremely difficult to keep in good condition and has the added hurdle of not liking her paws touched.
My words were “just do what you can, if it takes a few sessions to get her straight then I understand”.
Rhianna was amazing with her.
She was reassuring her and worked like a pro. The result was Storm looking beautiful and tangle free!

Rapha likes to talk through his groom but surprisingly he did shut up. That’s a first!
Rapha is a retired police dog and will decide very quickly if his environment and people in it are friendly or not. Needless to say, he loves it.
He had the added bonus of making a new friend in Rhianna’s gorgeous son Theodore.

Although Bean had been showered at home, she had never been to a groomer before. Bean is a rescue pup with one eye and the world can be a scary place.
Yep, you guessed it… with Rhianna’s reassuring manner and gentle hand, Bean made no fuss at all and looks amazing.

There are not many groomers that want to do the large or double coated breeds but Rhianna didn’t hesitate. Having extensive experience of many dogs including police dogs, it is clear she has a love for all Canine companions.
The salon has been kitted out with so much thought and personal touches. Even the dog logo is her dog Sprocket.

It is clear that Rhianna has excellent grooming skills but this incredible lady and her husband are working hard building a friendly business and raising their young son.
I believe that anyone who is determined to succeed when life is difficult and does such a great job deserves to be supported.

I definitely recommend. There is also the added perk that being located in Bacton means you can take the dogs for a beach walk before. 😍👍🐶🐾🪮

We will be putting a whiteboard up in the shelter soon.
This is so we can all leave each other messages and practice our doodles😁

Just a simple thing but it helps connects us all.
You can leave a message for the next person and so on.

There is an increasing number of toys being left out on the meadow.

We provide toys in the toy box so owners can select what is suitable for their dog. We don’t want dogs getting hold of anything unsuitable for them so if you could pop them away after use it would be greatly appreciated.

We want it to be a nice place for people. If you could pop toys back after use and double check the lids are on the snacks/biscuits after you have had some, we can keep it a lovely place for everybody. 😀😀👍👍

We noticed there was a number of broken toys in the toy box. We have cleared these out and put some new ones in. We also have a few more on order.
The snacks and drinks have also been topped up. 🥤

The bone hunt game is still going. There are still prizes available.

***BONE HUNT FOR DOGS***

We have 10 bones and 10 bags of goodies for those that find the bones.

Each bone is numbered. If you find the bone, you take the goody bag with the same number.

They will not all be hidden at once. We will hide a couple at a time.
Bones number 1 and 2 have been hidden.

More good news…

The drinks and snacks have been restocked.
We have added hot chocolate drinks and biscuits so now there is the choice of Cappuccinos, Lattes, hot chocolate, muffins, flapjacks and biscuits.
DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR FLASK OF HOT WATER! 😀

Please feel free to send photos or videos of your dog finds a bone. 🦴

IMPORTANT: Please put the bones you find in the blue bag (pictured below) so we can use them for future games.

Some additional grass protector mats have been put down to help reduce the muddy areas caused by the relentless rain we have been experiencing.

The photo looks like there is a square patch in the middle but there is matting there.

We have also placed some mats at the edge of the parking pad to reduce mud where we all load and unload our dogs.

If your dog finds a numbered ball, you win the bag with the matching number on AND the ball! 🥎

Each bag will have more than one prize in so if you have multiple dogs they will all get something. 🐾

Please let us know if you find a ball so we know it isn’t lost.

***In loving memory of beautiful Nia 💕🐾***

It is with great sadness we have lost one of our meadow family. 😢
Nia’s favourite place was Tilly’s meadow.

The photos show a tiny snippet of Nia’s incredible character, inquisitive nature and what a pretty girl she was.

We will be having a memorial plaque made to go on the stables so we can remember this beautiful girl. 🐾🐕

The meadow is a special place for dogs so it is only right that we put plaques up for those we lose. 😞

Please join us in sending love and sympathy to Patricia Baker (Nia’s owner/momma) in the sad loss of Nia.

There are plenty of drinks and snacks left. I top them up every few days so please feel free to having a drink and snack per person on each of your visits. 😀☕️🧁

I have put down more rubber matting to avoid a muddy build up by the stables.

I know, I know… it is messing with your mojo that it isn’t sitting level with the stables but I had to go where the muddy area was. 😂😂

Sticky boots season is upon us. 😫

Although the weather and seasons are uncontrollable, we are trying to reduce you getting muddy boots.
We have put down some extra rubber grass mats to reduce the sludge area at the stable door.

We have also ordered another one for the toilet area.

COFFEE & CAKE FOR YOU…

We want to thank all of our meadow users.
We have had a great year and your support has brought many additions to the meadow that the dogs can enjoy. 🐾

We want to treat you to coffee and cake to show our gratitude for your support.

On Sunday 19th we will be placing some lattes, cappuccinos, flapjacks (including vegan ones) and muffins so each hooman can have a drink and a treat.

As you know, we do not have hot water so you will need to bring some in a flask. You simply remove the foil lid on the drinks, pour in the hot water and stir.
We shall leave some spoons too.

We will place them all in a plastic tub for hygiene and safety.
Please take one drink and one treat of your choice. We have bought…

40 lattes
40 cappuccinos
25 regular flapjacks
25 vegan flapjacks
40 muffins

We won’t place them all there at once, we will spread it out.

We also keep the dog treats stocked up for your furry companions.

(Please note: the human treats are as a thank you and not an ongoing thing)

WHY DID WE START TILLY’S MEADOW?

(RAPHA’S STORY)

We have so many new people using Tilly’s meadow, we thought it may be good to tell the story of how we came to be.

We rescue dogs, mostly GSD’s and they each come with a rich and varied history.
An opportunity arose where we were asked by Essex Police to provide a home for a retired police dog called Rapha.
Rapha’s handler was changing jobs from police handler to training the handlers and he didn’t want Rapha left at home all day as he was due to retire.
It is important that we acknowledge Rapha’s achievements. He was the youngest dog ever to win the Essex police dog trials, he has made countless arrests and made many places safe for the public. He has a medal to recognise all this.
Most importantly, he is the most loving and kind natured boy you could meet.

Rapha came to live with us and 2 other female GSD’s.
Now I’m sure many of you will relate to this. When we would go for walks, we constantly had loose dogs trying to approach and the owners had little/no control over them.

Here we are in a position where we want this boy to be able to enjoy all the things and experiences in life that dogs need. Exploring new places and also the opportunity to run without care.
We quickly discovered there was nowhere to take him for him to be able to have a good run around without risk of other dogs approaching uninvited.

Rapha is not an aggressive dog but he also has training that tells him to be aware of risk to his handlers. He does not know what intention the loose dog charging at him like a Black Friday shopper trying to bag a cheap TV! Nor should he have to!

All dogs should have the right to somewhere safe and fun to just be themselves.

We also had a dog that was blind. Where was safe that she could run and play free and safely?!
It struck us that if we have this problem, there must be many other dogs, all with different abilities and issues that just need somewhere safe to be a carefree and happy dog.

It was for fortunate for us that we found a piece of land in Erpingham and we decided to purchase it. The next job was to fence this land in a way that would provide safety and also reduce the risk of wildlife entering.

We named the land Tilly’s meadow after a previous dog we had called Tilly who was a special girl (Her story will be told later).

Our intention was never to set up as a business that makes money. We do charge as this contributes to the many costs we have put into the meadow. It is not only the land but the fencing, parking pad, shelter, equipment to maintain the land, bins, benches, toilet etc etc…
We are just Paul and Rachel, a husband and wife that owns and loves dogs. We have no big team of people.

Our ethos is all about the dogs and owners and creating a community that supports each other.
Our aim is to grow and get better in a way that suits all the meadow users and their dogs.
Since setting up, there are other much needed dog parks springing up. We are not looking to be the best. We are looking to be the right place for our users.
We often do polls asking people if they want particular facilities. It is about you guys and your dogs and always will be.
Your support is incredible and we are so grateful as this support allows us to continue and provide facilities.

We also want to tell your dog’s story. They deserve to have a moment in the spotlight so we can all know how amazing they are.

The extras such as our exchange box can really be helpful and can reduce the expense of purchasing things that our dogs need.
We plan to put a whiteboard up soon so we can write messages to each other. 🙂

Rapha has had 2 handlers and they are incredible people with dog skills and rapport that is simply out of this world.
One is still doing amazing things in the police force and the other has retired from the force and works as a top drawer dog trainer and behaviourist making appearances on TV (more on these guys to come).

The equipment is currently in the stable room but feel free to get it out for your dogs if you wish.
We kindly ask that it is put away after use during the autumn/winter season to preserve it.

We snuck on the meadow this morning to set up the “dog buffet” 😁 I was assisted by Little Bean who tested the treats and gave her full approval. Which ones will be your dog’s favourite? 🐶🐶

LITTLE BEAN’S STORY. It was beautiful at the meadow this morning. Little Bean is a 10 month old rescue puppy with one eye. The meadow is great for her in many ways. She takes a little longer to scan her surroundings and feel safe. Bean has had some bad experiences on walks where loose dogs have come out of nowhere and frightened her. This has made her fearful and a little reactive. This is something that now needs time and training to desensitise her. At the meadow she can run, play and practice training knowing she will not be launched at. Dogs need to feel safe. 🥰🐾🦮🐕

The gorgeous Izzy was the first to check out the new additions this morning whilst waiting for her handsome boyfriend Hugo to join her. 🐾🐾🐕🐶😍

IT’S PLAYTIME!! The tyres have landed! 🛞🛞 We have filled two with play sand (this sand is safe for dogs). One has top soil for those that prefer a bit of mud digging. The final one is empty for exploring or hiding things in. We hope you enjoy them. 😁😁 Another little surprise is that there is now a toilet. You voted and we listened. 👍👍 The tables and chairs are now in the stable at the end. (On the right side as you look at the stable block) The bolts are a bit easier to use on that side. There is a couple of shrubs too to help the meadow look pretty. Could you please like this post to show you have read it and we can see how many people we are reaching, many thanks.
