Did you know that all of our dog shampoos are readily biodegradeable and non-ecotoxic?

They're also all 99%+ Natural and 75% Organic - containing no synthetic preservatives or fragrances, detergents, foaming agents, or petrochemicals (check out the "Free From" section on our website product pages here: https://waggysdog.com/collections/frontpage).

This vastly minimises the environmental impact it has after it's washed off wherever this may be - in the shower/bath, in your garden, or in the wild (the latter being a last resort and always following Leave No Trace guidelines).

Why did we create it this way and why do we care?

Well, as most of us are, we're big advocates of nature and the ocean. And these are the very two places where it'll eventually end up, either directly or after it's been treated through wastewater.

So not only did we want to consider how our ingredients are grown (75% being Certified Organic), we also wanted to consider what happens to it after it's used.

Did you know our shampoo is naturally mild and hypoallergenic and crafted just for dogs? Dog's skin is 3x thinner than a humans and much more sensitive - so whether you bathe your furry friend once in a blue moon or regularly it's important you use the right shampoo.

Most dog shampoos also contain nasty synthetic chemicals like preservatives, fragrances and foaming agents 😯 which we believe shouldn't be going anywhere near your dog as it's just not needed.

These synthetic ingredients are very prevalent in the pet industry because they're cheap, reduce the cost of production and make the product behave like humans have come to believe a dog grooming product should.

We care about what we feed our dogs, and when it comes to bath time, we think it should be no different. After all, their skin is their largest organ and is thinner than a humans

Whether you wash your pup regularly, or every now and then like we do for Tallow our Golden Retriever - we created our Natural and Organic shampoos so that we can ensure we’re using the highest quality, plant-based and organic oils that are naturally mild and hypoallergenic

We have a loooong list of ingredients that we will never use, including: SLS/SLES, artificial foaming agents / preservatives, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, and more - because we don’t believe in using low cost, low quality synthetic nasties like you’ll find in other brands

The ingredient list for our Citrus Burst shampoo is short, and we list every single one to human cosmetic regulation standards, on every bottle - something we couldn’t believe isn’t required by any regulation for dog shampoo 🤯 so we self regulated ourselves:

🥥 Organic Coconut Oil - Promotes a healthy, shiny coat. Adds moisture to the skin and naturally repels fleas and pests

Protecting our oceans…

12 million tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every single year 🌊 (Surfers Against Sewage)

Yet the ocean is home to 94% of all living life on earth 🌍

We’re trying to do better by being part of the solution 💪 from day 1

In 2020 alone, the ocean bound plastic recovery programme that we’re a part of collected and recycled 10,000 tonnes of ocean bound plastic found on coastlines ♻️

That’s the equivalent weight of 100 Blue Whales - the worlds largest animal 🐋

We could have chosen to use another material that is perceived as sustainable, like glass or aluminium, but they’re not as “eco-friendly” as you would like to think (we run the numbers on this - new blog post coming soon). Often using more energy and emitting more emmissions in both production and shipping, whilst also having low end-of-life recycling rates

The fact is that plastic is here, and wreaking havoc in our oceans on marine-life. We choose to be part of the solution 🙌

🐶 Meet Tallow… our Chief Mucky Pup

Besides showing love to anyone and everyone, his favourite walkies activity is rolling around in fox poo, getting it deep into his thick coat, especially around his neck

We exist because we struggled to find a truly natural dog shampoo for him. When we did our research, we were shocked to learn that most of the supposedly "all-natural" dog shampoos aren't actually what they say they are

As we prepare for launch, we'll be donating 1% of our total revenue to environmental projects with 1% for the Planet

You may think 1% isn’t that much… but imagine 💭 if EVERY business did the same thing...

We'll also be making our bottles from recycled plastic pollution found on coastlines 🌊♻ preventing that same plastic from entering our oceans and potentially killing marine life!

When we saw this, we had to take a photo because it just goes to show how dangerous beach litter can be! An inch to the left and the four-legged friend would've been in a whole lot of pain!

Dogs are welcome everywhere on Dartmoor National Park in Devon. There is plenty of space to explore from open moorland and tors to woodland paths. National Trust, who manage over 6500 acres of the moors, together with Forthglade have created a Pawprint Rating system which shows the very best places you can visit for a day with your dog, including dog wash areas, dog-friendly cafes, dedicated on and off-lead areas, and dog-friendly holiday cottages that include a welcome pack for dogs! 🐶🐾
