Little girl only 120g and very skinny with blood in her Pooh. Poor babies are coming in so very poorly with a host of parasites past to them by mum, they are so up against it before they even start their journey.

Also in yesterday was Edna an older lady, very poorly with lungworm within affecting her breathing.

Then later in the evening Netty was brought in after being found tangled in a a football net which had been tight around her neck and she been in the sun all day. Luckily no lasting damage just a bit swollen around the area and dehydrated. She drank a whole dish of water and ate a whole dish of food.

Please if you have netting of any kind please make sure it’s a foot of the ground as many hedgehogs die tangled in netting

Update - After speaking to my hedgehog guru with years of experience she thinks it might be caused by a calcium deficiency or a heavy parasite burden obviously treatment is on going and only time will tell if it’s something more sinister.

This poor little guy arrived yesterday collapsed and suffering from Fluke later when he was a bit more stable I noticed he can’t walk properly. He’s been to the amazing Bonafice vets to and no physical problems were found so it was decided he’s given a bit longer to see any improvement is made. He’s not eating independently so needs to be syringe fed. He’s a lovely boy really fluffy and tuffie bits behind his ears so I’ve named him Tuffie 🤣 But he needs all your prayers.

A few new admissions the lovely Regent from my old house in St Thomas. With some horrible ticks that were nearly as big as him.

Winnie and Mable found wandering on their own at 114 & 120 grams they should still be with mum. They are both suffering from the horrendous Fluke which would have passed to my their mum. Treatment for this will be tough on one’s so little.

Must be a full moon for hedgehogs 🤣🤣 First thing this morning I got a call from a lady saying a hedgehog had got in her house, climb the stairs where she nearly stood on it. Then she decided to put it in a box and bring to me for a check. So it’s now in her car before she could get off the drive it’s escaped and got its self under the passenger seat and completely stuck. On arrival at mine it’s well and truly wedged between the backwards and forwards mechanism and the central console where the handbrake is. It took 20 minutes to eventually free him. If my husband had the right tools we would have taken the seat out, it was nearly off to a garage for help. But on my last attempt I manage to free him unharmed. After a quick check he was returned to her garden as he was a big boy over a kilo.

Then this afternoon a phone call to say a family had arrived home from a day out and found little Harriet only 200grams in their kitchen with no idea how she got there as they have steep steps front and back of their house and no dog. Here she is having a drink of rehydration fluids

Real poorly girl Blondie arrived this morning struggling to breathe and extremely skinny. Doing my best for the sweet nature girl but she’s got a hard battle🙏🙏

Lulu has got semi release in Sarah’s garden who also fosters hogs for me, Sarah has a rabbit run so she’s gone into there for a few nights to get use to the outside before being properly released seeing as she came in so small at 200g and no experience of the world. But I forgot to take a picture of the beautiful girl

Very busy with hoglets, the little abandon hoglet Pookie is doing ok, his eyes are just starting to open and had to come to work with me for his feeds. Nothing is ever a definite with such littlest. Milligan is being syringe fed as he’s not eating poor boy has a lot of fluke which would have been pass to him by his mum. Thelma and Louise had to have a bath as they are right Pooh bums and were plastered in it. Triplets are doing really well and making a right mess. A new boy hoglet Tommy arrive yesterday with lots of ticks and has lungworm found walking down the road in Ide. I have made list of the name suggestions and will work my way through them. Don’t forget the girls names 🦔💕

Sniffles and her family released last night to a lovely garden. Will miss her as I got quite attached as her nose took so long to heal and I had to bath and cream it every day. She just use to splat out in her cage when she’d had enough of her babies and wasn’t bothered by me at all. Stay safe 🤣

Two mum’s with their babies released. Brownie with the twins and the mum with 5 babies dug up in the garden a while back. Babies all a good size and weaned gone to gardens where they have been blocked in for a few nights so mum can safely teach them some wild ways, then the gaps will be unblocked so the can go on their way. Stay safe babies 😘

Busy few days in rescue, Cranny from Cranbrooke adult female lying in the road suffering from the usual cocktail of parasites. A very poorly adult female that sadly didn’t make it. Juvenile male found in the village scavenging around a bird feeder this morning. ( very skinny). Mum and 5 very young babies (probably a day or 2 at most) at lunch time discover under a patio table cover in full sun with no way of making it suitable. Then a cheeky little baby 115gram female from St Thomas this evening. So all go here.

Looking for hedgehog friendly gardens that are secure or could be made secure temporarily. You would also need to support the hogs daily with food, water and have a hedgehog house( I could probably help with house). This would be for mum and babies to acclimatise to the wild or for disabled hogs. Please message me if you can help. Thanks Wendy

Big boy Donald came in on Sunday, had quite a few ticks, also suffering from the dreaded lungworm and roundworm. A hedgehog can cope with a few ticks and they will drop off naturally but if they have a lot or clusters of them then it’s usually a sign the hog is poorly.

🦔🦔 Please leave out shallow dishes of water for hedgehogs and other wildlife especially in this hot weather. This can be a lifeline for them. 🦔🦔🦔
