Just kidding!! Meet Braille
Just kidding!!!! 😱
Little 🦔hog this morning, 114g male, covered in pustulated bite marks, lost half a nostril, bitten round anal sphincter absolutely collapsed, listened for heart beat for about a minute, un responsive, couldn’t hear anything, its gums were white pale , genuinely thought it was dead, but thought I would treat it for hypothermia, shock, antibiotics, inflacam etc took, popped it in incubator ,took Rosie to her mates 50 minutes away , got back , now look 👀
Henry XII
Henry 12th was called in this evening after being found on a green about 4pm, he’s again skinny and dehydrated. But receiving fluids and initial meds until we get a 💩 sample 🙏🏽
Chaucer
In comes poorly Chaucer delivered by the lovely finders to my work. But upon seeing how poorly this little girl was, straight away called the wonderful Roxann to come collect her.
So severely dehydrated and wobbling all over the place, acidic burns on all 4 feet (most likely from acid urine/diarrhoea), ticks & nymphs, mites and a probable missing eye 💔 all meds started, and she’s rehydrated and in ICU 🙏🏽
Soggy!!
Look at Soggy go! The ever fabulous Thorne Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C and Lisa took him on as she has an affinity with the poor hoggies with brain injuries. Soggy is up! I honestly didn’t think he’d pull through the first night he came in. But look at him go, still unsure where his story will end up, but certainly looks more positive 🥰🙏🏽
ANOTHER strimmer death
Once again, this poor little soul, Finch, was initially brought in was a limp. Once anaesthetised the extent of a clear strimmer injury that had opened up his belly, chest and all the way to the trachea 🤢💔 covered in live maggots he was high tailed it to sadly be PTS. ANOTHER unnecessary preventable death 😔💔
Tiddler alive with mites!
Tiddler was collected and only 140g and absolutely crawling with mites!!!! 🤢🤢🤢
Hettie a 170g baby found in the middle of a field. Dehydrated and alone but hungry and feisty 🙏🏽
Snowy in yesterday with a wound to his nose and horrendous trouble breathing. Hoping the breathing issues are just from the trauma and resulting swelling 🤞
Sometimes as rescues we are blessed to be able to see the usually unseen 🥰😍
Mum Cliff was attacked by a dog and had one eye. However a week into her treatment she gave birth to 4 little cuties; Pulp, Fiction, Dusk & Dawn. Mum has been absolutely fantastic and babies are still feeding from her (in addition to solids) it’s so warm today she’s decided feeding in the nest was too hot 😂
Hate cases like this. Bluey was kindly received in by Columbines Wildlife Care and then passed over to us but he’d been left out and suffering for over 24hrs. He’s fading fast 😔
He’s in the incubator, and has been given all meds to make his breathing as comfortable as possible. Please please phone immediately with concerns and we can advise whether to bring to rescue ASAP! These little angels go downhill in a matter of hours so 24hrs can possibly mean the difference between life and death 🙏🏽
So myself and Roxann have spent the last 72hrs battling to save Yule. He suddenly went downhill at the start of the week and a 💩 sample showed fluke (which wasn’t present on his arrival or a few days later samples) he was not expected to make it to the night, but regular fluids, incubator, meds, infacol and special convalescent food, and we finally have a Mr that is eating and drinking independently again!
Happy New Year from all the hoggies here at HQ! here’s just a few that wanted to come out and celebrate 🤣
Thank you so so much to everyone that has supported us over this past year, it truly means the world to me, and in turn all the hedgehogs we save! Sending all my love to you all, and wish you all a brilliant year ahead 🦔💕💫
Cutie pie Heather came in today after being found curled up under a parked car. She is INFESTED with capillaria (eggs) and tonnes of fleas 😬 meds started but she’s got a very good appetite and drinking her water like a good girl 🥰
Super poorly Jasper from last night is showing how much fight he’s got in him! 💪 in the incubator and having regular fluids, his sample showed up fluke and capillaria, and he has a missing toe 🥺
Jim has decided he wants to take his dinner to bed… 🤣
Such a little character! Marked difference from the poorly hoggy that came in on Sunday, lungworm, freezing, skinny and dehydrated…
Enjoy your Sunday dinners everyone 🤢
Holly is 80g and was found laying out on a lawn 😔 now having fluids and in the incubator 🤞
Lionel last night. Oh this boy is just melting my heart! We are still absolutely caked in ticks, I’m removing bit by bit, and a lot are falling off 🤢 he drank on his own for like a full 3 minutes 🥳 and although so he’s so weak he can’t even hold himself up whilst eating, the fact we’re wanting to eat and drink independently is a miracle! Still obviously on meds and regular fluids 🙏🏽
Lionel is so so so poorly 💔 he has a huge fluke burden and I can’t even begin to talk about the ticks. Took this video just before I cleaned him out. It doesn’t do justice to show you how skinny he is, he’s so weak he cannot lift his head to eat but we’re slowly improving 🤞🙏🏽 definitely more feisty and the fact we’ve moved off the heat pad is a big step 🤞
Stop it, stop it, stop it! F**k sake drive slower. Found him on my way home tonight. He’s been hit, yes okay he’s got myxi too but there he was trying to drag himself. He’d managed to drag himself out of the road, so what he was just going to lay there until the flies got him in the morning?
He’s wrapped in my scarf and dosed up to the max on a heat pad. Pass in peace my sweet 😔
