Elephant came in like this…probably one of the most swollen whole legs I’ve ever seen…I won’t show you what I had to do to it 🤢🤢
Booked in for vet assessment and possible amputation, but so far dosed up on meds ☹️

Couple of the new arrivals.
Lacey came in with huge lacerations and puncture wounds, booked into the vets for a stitch up 🙏🏽
These 2 babies came in with mum (photo only taken when moving from what they were transported in to the hutch) sadly the nest had been disturbed and 2 babies had already passed away. Mum appears to have kept nursing and supporting these 2 so all fingers crossed 🤞
Pretty please we’re running super low on cat food, wet and dry! Would be super grateful for any donations 🙏🏽
Little Bradley came in during Thorne Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C fundraiser on Saturday. Only 117g 🥺
Wobble is in, blind as a bat. One eyeball already necrotic and needing removing, the other facing completely the wrong way. No wonder he was walking in circles in faversham town centre 😔
Then we had Trevor, at 102g found with something random (still unexplained) in his mouth. This summer has been absolutely horrendous for babies, so so dry, no water and no food. PLEASE PLEASE leave cat biscuits out for your hogs, if for whatever reason you can’t leave cat biscuits definitely leave a dish of water!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hey Cherry 🍒 another intake only 168g 🙏🏽
Pretty please if anyone’s able we desperately need more f10 to treat the flystrike and maggoty hogs coming in. Also any other items from our Amazon wishlist marked high or highest we could really use more of! 🙏🏽
Also if anyone has an unused small animal carrier, it would be massively helpful!
Thank you 🥰

Another intake today. As luck would have it, my daughter and I were at Quex for a day out when I got a call from 5 mins down the road 😊 little lad (214g) was picked up found down a storm drain but smothered in maggots and flystrike 🤢 demaggoting commence 🙏🏽
Another massive thank you to Gaye Brocks Banyard and Help for Hedgehog Heroes 🥰 another fantastic donation 🙏🏽 Reg the hedge is now also an inpatient again with possible issues with his hips. Currently on pain meds and antibiotics ready to be assessed properly when he’s more comfortable 🙏🏽
Quick update on a couple of recents. Poor phoenix was found with an injury to her back foot, and her eyeball popped out 🤢
Vets app booked in but so far doing well on meds and antibiotics 🙏🏽
And this little rabbit was brought in by a cat, had a slight wound to the ear but after a course of antibiotics was successfully released 😊
Where do I start with Egbert 😂 he lives with me permanently. Blind as a bat, out all day long. I got home yesterday and this is how I found him. I’d cleaned out the rescue pet mice in the morning, and forgotten to put the bag of sawdust straight in the green bin, he’d clawed his way in and made himself very at home 😂 turfed him out and he ran off annoyed.
He is the reason my garden is trashed 😂
Roxann and I want to say a huge thank you to Gaye Brocks Banyard and the bikers for raising an amazing £360!!!! 😱 so so grateful thank you so so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Apologies for delays in replies, messages, updates etc!! It’s not on purpose but really juggling a lot at the moment 😬 working 2 jobs 7 days a week, a sick cat, numerous rescue pets and running the rescue! So please bear with, it’s not deliberate 😂
This little one in today from my old house, 440g but skinny, out in the day so awaiting a 💩 sample. Little bastard bit me though 😂 so good at least we have some fight! Wren II
Braille aka Nettle continuing to do well now under the care of Thorne Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C 🙏🏽
Just kidding!!!! 😱
Little 🦔hog this morning, 114g male, covered in pustulated bite marks, lost half a nostril, bitten round a**l sphincter absolutely collapsed, listened for heart beat for about a minute, un responsive, couldn’t hear anything, its gums were white pale , genuinely thought it was dead, but thought I would treat it for hypothermia, shock, antibiotics, inflacam etc took, popped it in incubator ,took Rosie to her mates 50 minutes away , got back , now look 👀
This little one came into Roxann this morning, by all accounts we’d passed away en route…only 114g 💔
Right lotsa hogs to catch up on. First lot with Roxann who’s been dealt a pretty crap hand this week, so giving her a bit of love ❤️
“ Hedgy” came in at 966g after being got by a dog, sadly despite not having puncture wounds to his outer body, he passed away from what was discovered to be a very very deep puncture wound to his chest.
Plato male big male should be over kilo but is 760g, acutely ill with lungworm and pneumonia, respiratory distress , he made it through one night in ICU with round the clock nursing, as cannot breathe , usual treatments added bisolvon/olbas oil and Lincomycin, unable to eat as so congested with mucous.. so syringe feeding little and often, even that’s a trauma for him.. sadly he passed yesterday also 😔
“Eden “ male , found in Eden Village , was brought to me 8am this morning by Gaye Brocks Banyard , baby 207g has sadly passed away puncture wounds bilateral chest and one huge one through lumbar spine
Teeny Tenny now has a friend with little Bubba and the company together has finally encouraged her to start eating 🥳
Brook was in after being found looking skinny in the morning, we have the usual roundworm and lungworm.
And without a photo lil spritz is doing fantastically 🥳
All sorted 🙏🏽
Anyone able to collect a hog from Minster and deliver to faversham please! 🙏🏽
Heeeeeey 🥰😍
In comes Spikey (first 2 pics) and Johnny.
Spikey was found by a nice family after being poked with sticks by a bunch of laughing kids in the gutter beside the road 😡
Johnny is in for 💩 tests because despite looking pretty well rounded he’s been seen out in the day for the last week or 2 so we’ll see what’s up.
In comes teeny Tenny found alone in a garden near an already deceased sibling ☹️
And poorly Sugar, haven’t quite worked out the exact cause of the back leg issues, so will be off to the vets. But dosed up on pain meds and fluids for tonight 🙏🏽
In comes Spritz at a whopping 126g. Cutie pie was found wondering around all alone in the sun. At this age dehydration can kill so quickly, and the flies as usual show no mercy. So he’s tucked up with a belly full of puppy mousse mixed with formula 😊
Anyone near Dover head over to Little Urchins fundraiser! Lisa from Thorne Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C also there 😊

Another day, more hoggies.
Firstly Zombie who’s face is basically gone, maggots, flystrike, and a huuuuge laceration to the jaw. Vets app asap to gas down and have a proper look and see if we can heal 🤞
Jay came into Roxann with both back legs not working. Awful necrotic open fracture to at least one leg, but most possibly both. Sadly for Jay it’s going to be a one way ticket to the vets to have confirmation and be pts 😔 for tonight we’re comfortably medicated and warm
Little Dippy in from Columbines Wildlife Care. He’s so skinny ☹️ he’s settled, warm and medicated. Fingers crossed he’s got enough strength to get through the night 🤞
Along came Polly. The lovely finder came across her collapsed on the decking. She’s got mites, this photo doesn’t do justice but she’s completely flat 😔 she’s begun all her fluids and meds, she’s warm and comfortable so all we can do now is cross our fingers 🤞
Roxann and I are running low on a few supplies and would be hugely appreciative if anyone can help 🙏🏽
20ml syringes
10ml syringes
5ml syringes
2ml syringes 🙏🏽

Just kidding!!!! 😱 Little 🦔hog this morning, 114g male, covered in pustulated bite marks, lost half a nostril, bitten round anal sphincter absolutely collapsed, listened for heart beat for about a minute, un responsive, couldn’t hear anything, its gums were white pale , genuinely thought it was dead, but thought I would treat it for hypothermia, shock, antibiotics, inflacam etc took, popped it in incubator ,took Rosie to her mates 50 minutes away , got back , now look 👀
Henry 12th was called in this evening after being found on a green about 4pm, he’s again skinny and dehydrated. But receiving fluids and initial meds until we get a 💩 sample 🙏🏽
In comes poorly Chaucer delivered by the lovely finders to my work. But upon seeing how poorly this little girl was, straight away called the wonderful Roxann to come collect her. So severely dehydrated and wobbling all over the place, acidic burns on all 4 feet (most likely from acid urine/diarrhoea), ticks & nymphs, mites and a probable missing eye 💔 all meds started, and she’s rehydrated and in ICU 🙏🏽
Look at Soggy go! The ever fabulous Thorne Hedgehog Rescue C.I.C and Lisa took him on as she has an affinity with the poor hoggies with brain injuries. Soggy is up! I honestly didn’t think he’d pull through the first night he came in. But look at him go, still unsure where his story will end up, but certainly looks more positive 🥰🙏🏽
Once again, this poor little soul, Finch, was initially brought in was a limp. Once anaesthetised the extent of a clear strimmer injury that had opened up his belly, chest and all the way to the trachea 🤢💔 covered in live maggots he was high tailed it to sadly be PTS. ANOTHER unnecessary preventable death 😔💔
Tiddler was collected and only 140g and absolutely crawling with mites!!!! 🤢🤢🤢
Snowy in yesterday with a wound to his nose and horrendous trouble breathing. Hoping the breathing issues are just from the trauma and resulting swelling 🤞
Sometimes as rescues we are blessed to be able to see the usually unseen 🥰😍 Mum Cliff was attacked by a dog and had one eye. However a week into her treatment she gave birth to 4 little cuties; Pulp, Fiction, Dusk & Dawn. Mum has been absolutely fantastic and babies are still feeding from her (in addition to solids) it’s so warm today she’s decided feeding in the nest was too hot 😂
Hate cases like this. Bluey was kindly received in by Columbines Wildlife Care and then passed over to us but he’d been left out and suffering for over 24hrs. He’s fading fast 😔 He’s in the incubator, and has been given all meds to make his breathing as comfortable as possible. Please please phone immediately with concerns and we can advise whether to bring to rescue ASAP! These little angels go downhill in a matter of hours so 24hrs can possibly mean the difference between life and death 🙏🏽
So myself and Roxann have spent the last 72hrs battling to save Yule. He suddenly went downhill at the start of the week and a 💩 sample showed fluke (which wasn’t present on his arrival or a few days later samples) he was not expected to make it to the night, but regular fluids, incubator, meds, infacol and special convalescent food, and we finally have a Mr that is eating and drinking independently again!
Happy New Year from all the hoggies here at HQ! here’s just a few that wanted to come out and celebrate 🤣 Thank you so so much to everyone that has supported us over this past year, it truly means the world to me, and in turn all the hedgehogs we save! Sending all my love to you all, and wish you all a brilliant year ahead 🦔💕💫
Cutie pie Heather came in today after being found curled up under a parked car. She is INFESTED with capillaria (eggs) and tonnes of fleas 😬 meds started but she’s got a very good appetite and drinking her water like a good girl 🥰
Super poorly Jasper from last night is showing how much fight he’s got in him! 💪 in the incubator and having regular fluids, his sample showed up fluke and capillaria, and he has a missing toe 🥺
Jim has decided he wants to take his dinner to bed… 🤣 Such a little character! Marked difference from the poorly hoggy that came in on Sunday, lungworm, freezing, skinny and dehydrated…
Enjoy your Sunday dinners everyone 🤢 Holly is 80g and was found laying out on a lawn 😔 now having fluids and in the incubator 🤞
Lionel last night. Oh this boy is just melting my heart! We are still absolutely caked in ticks, I’m removing bit by bit, and a lot are falling off 🤢 he drank on his own for like a full 3 minutes 🥳 and although so he’s so weak he can’t even hold himself up whilst eating, the fact we’re wanting to eat and drink independently is a miracle! Still obviously on meds and regular fluids 🙏🏽
Lionel is so so so poorly 💔 he has a huge fluke burden and I can’t even begin to talk about the ticks. Took this video just before I cleaned him out. It doesn’t do justice to show you how skinny he is, he’s so weak he cannot lift his head to eat but we’re slowly improving 🤞🙏🏽 definitely more feisty and the fact we’ve moved off the heat pad is a big step 🤞
Stop it, stop it, stop it! F**k sake drive slower. Found him on my way home tonight. He’s been hit, yes okay he’s got myxi too but there he was trying to drag himself. He’d managed to drag himself out of the road, so what he was just going to lay there until the flies got him in the morning? He’s wrapped in my scarf and dosed up to the max on a heat pad. Pass in peace my sweet 😔
