Fantastic outing to Chapelton Equestrian Centre for our last competition of the year. Both ponies were really fantastic (thankfully Jack decided that maybe being a dressage pony is easier than being a rodeo pony). Despite completely different tests they were both very close with Forest just pipping Jack to the post with 70.71% compared to Jacks 69.05%. Super grateful to Shona Grant Mackenzie for giving us the opportunity to have a full schedule competition this far north, and big thanks to Natalie Storey and Karen Rees for coming to help and cheer us on.

Much as I love my boys, thereā€™s no such thing as a bombproof horse or pony. Thank goodness for helmets and body protectors. Sunny weather, new clips and very green grass for this time of year doesnā€™t help!

Had a great day on Sunday at our favourite local venue Chapelton Equestrian Centre . My coach, Sara Stevens came with us and was riding Dadā€™s pony, Prince, who has gone to live with her now. She got a 1st having only ridden him 4 times, with 70.19%. Forest was fab and got 68.57% in the Intermediate test. Jack stayed home as heā€™s been a little bit off. Just one more competition before the year end and both ponies will hopefully be qualified at both Bronze and Silver for the Winter Championships next year.

Weather was pretty rubbish today but we went over to The Cabin Equestrian Centre with Jack and Forest to their BD competition. Always a lovely friendly environment. Jack felt a bit sluggish today and Forest felt like he needed to go to the loo the whole way through the test. However, despite that, Forest scored a fantastic 71.9% which is a PB with him, to take 1st, with Jack bringing up the rear in 2nd place with a respectable 66.43%. Lovely relaxed competition and delighted with their performance. No photos today!

WHIS have the absolute best customer service. After we were ripped off by someone who sold us a dud set, they stepped in and helped. When we had issues with the Dutch post rejecting a repair unit (thanks Brexit!) they helped us to get a new unit. Their communication sets are fantastic. We use them in every lesson and at competitions and Mum uses them hacking with her friend too. Thank you WHIS.

Training with the Horse Scotland Performance Squad has been one of the best opportunities I have been given. Iā€™m so lucky to get 2 days a month of training along with Physio, fitness training and sports psychology sessions. Two days this week down at the fabulous The Scottish National Equestrian Centre with both boys. Robyn Dunn put funny white balls on my saddle and Forestā€™s bum with me wearing the stripey jacket so they could assess my straightness and then gave me exercises to help my balance. Harry Payne Dressage made his point with a poo picker! Itā€™s nearly a year with Jack and about 6 months with Forest and I finally feel that we are a team and they understand me and my asymmetrical strengths and movements and I understand what they need me to do. Love them both to bits.

Fantastic trip to The Scottish National Equestrian Centre for an affiliated BD competition today. Totally love this venue, really kind and helpful people, amazing arenas and great overnight stabling. Moving up to silver so this was our first trip with both boys at silver and they were fab with Forest beating Jack today to take 1st with 66.43 and Jack coming a close 2nd with 65.24. Really chuffed with them both so hoping we can nail this silver test for the winter championships in 2025.

6 days, 1128 miles, 28 hours and 43 mins driving (not me, every road user will be relieved to hear!) and we are home! The ponies were thrilled to be back in their field, rolling and galloping around.

What an amazing week. A fantastic venue, superbly supportive group of people and just a really successful trip. I'm so proud of both Forest and Jack who had to travel such a long way and really performed the best that they could. I was especially proud of Forest, as this was the 1st big competition I had taken him to and he was foot perfect. I learned so much and am excited to step up to silver in the Winter Championships in 2025.

I couldn't do this without the large number of people and organisations who support me both on an ongoing basis and for individual events so I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has made this such a fantastic year for me.

Massive thanks to:

Sara Stevens who has coached me every week for years and is super supportive
VRB Scotland who provide regular physio for the ponies and make sure there are no niggles
Gammack's saddlery who spend ages to make sure that both ponies saddles fit both me and the ponies perfectly
Ponease who provide me with supplements to keep the ponies tummies healthy both at home and when we travel
BLISS OF LONDON - Saddle makers of distinction for all the lovely extras they sent when we got our new saddle
horsescotland for the incredible training, physio and fitness coaching they provide
Scotland (who for some reason I can't tag) who supported me this year with funding for safety equipment and our new saddle
Natasha Adkinson who coached me before my tests on both days and walked me into the arena to make sure I was calm and happy
Harry Payne Dressage who pushes me hard to be a better rider
Emma Douglas who is always there as a sounding board
Bianca Judd for the amazing website that she made for me
Captured Moments by Catriona for the fabulous professional photos she did for me
Nicky Gray, Heather Larson, Sarah McConnell, Jackie Henderson, Alison Seggie for the cheering on, cakes and general help that they have provided me with over the year
Lorna Ross and Bernardo Mantilla B. (aka Mum and Dad) who have arranged everything, driven me everywhere, pushed me to do my best

Really great day at the British Dressage Para Summer Championships at Hartpury. So proud of both the boys who, despite high winds, went beautifully to take 2nd and 3rd place in our section with only 1% difference between 1st and 2nd. Jack was his lovely steady self, scoring consistently and Forest had several 8s. Along with Margaret Lupton , I was proud to be there as 1 of only 2 Scottish riders that could get there this time.

Massive thanks to Natasha Adkinson for coaching and warming me up there, Harry Payne Dressage and horsescotland for all the ongoing training and Sara Stevens for her patience and weekly coaching.

Thanks to Mum and Dad for everything they do.

Winter Qualifiers (aka warm up tests). So, so, so happy with both ponies today. They were both superstars. If Jack hadnā€™t decided he had a desperately itchy nose that he just had to scratch in the middle of the stretchy walk, he would have scored the exact same as Forest. So happy with todayā€™s results. Hope we can do it again at the championship tomorrow. Massive thanks to Natasha Adkinson for coaching me before going in.
