Well! You guys and gals are utterly amazing!
This appreciation post goes out to Heather Cross , Debbie Hicks and Rik K Grover .
These latest donations consist of wet food for the hedgehogs complete with litter for that funny looking hog, lots of advocate ( this helps keep the cost of meds down ) and an indoor hutch with straw , hay and shavings!

Does anyone have any of these kicking about / spare pipette they might be able to let me have pretty pls 🙏 cat or dog , date doesn't matter ( it's for the hedgehogs) we use this to treat a particular parasite ( worm) .

He's already showing signs of lungworm as he's got quite a cough .

Wilfred. Brought to me In a shopping basket. His story didn't add up.
Multiple injuries at such a young age Inc puncture wound ,split mouth, couldn't breathe, kept filling up with gas which had to be syringed off ( due to trauma).
He's been through alot already but the last pic was taken this evening after his meds .
He's a big boy now weighing 500g!
Just need to get the breathing sorted , all other injuries have healed!

Meet Mr Darcy! 💙
Admitted this afternoon at a lovely 807g.
So what's his story?
First of all, out in the day = not ok.
Finder soon realised what the problem was...
He had gotten himself tangled up in football netting . The more he struggled, the tighter the net went around his limbs ...all worn out and he was face down in a puddle.
Finder quickly removed any netting and got him straight to me as there was some remaining by his back legs.
He couldn't even curl up and one of his front arms were OUTSIDE of his skirt!
Gave him a warm bath to relax him out so I could remove the last piece of net and pop that arm back inside of his ball of spines .
Eventually he let me look, it wasn't around his rear legs at all, it was around his 3rd leg!! 😱😳
No wonder he couldn't move!
He can now curl up properly.
Will need to stay here for a couple weeks as these types of injury take a while to show.
Please be mindful of hedgehogs and other wildlife, put any unused nets away or raise them off the ground, thankyou!

Since Spikey gave birth to 2 perfectly formed hoglets which sadly died, she went on to produce 4 more but these were not formed properly .
She went through hell spread over 2 days and 2 nights in total.
Being poorly herself , she was totally exhausted and it was obvious to me that she had given up. The sadness was all over her face.
She didn't eat, she didn't drink. She didn't even get up out of bed .
I decided to get her up myself and syringe feed her over the next 5 days.
Once her ordeal was over, I gave her a nice warm bath and cleaned her up, put her back to bed on a heat pad.
I even started to give her sub-cut fluids again.
I thought this was it. I was going to lose her ..then...earlier I noticed her meat bowl...there's indents in it....now to most of you ,it's just a meat bowl...but this is massive! She got up out of bed all by herself and tried to eat a little ! Small steps and I hope its enough to begin to turn this around.
Cmon spikey-doo! This isn't over yet!

On the 5th of July, baby dave was admitted at just 211g . Too small to be out alone .
He left the rescue tonight weighing a fantastic 581g!

WARNING: UPSETTING PICS OF DEATH...

Spikey...not only is she back in rescue for her skin but now she's spent the last 24hrs giving birth however her babies have sadly died...she's just too poorly ...absolutely heartbreaking but something wasn't right so mother nature took them back .😭😭
Iv stayed up with her all night just incase she needed me ...now time for me to have some sleep!!

This is Ginger...because she is!
Alot of ticks and fleas and was out during the day. A massive clue that she's quite poorly.
I believe her to be an older girl..
Her feet have done some miles , lack of teeth , and her gingery colour suggests older age.
I'm hoping to get her back out there one last time but she's so exhausted xx

Even though I have my regular donors save / bring me their newspapers ( thankyou!)...I'm using them faster than the amount coming in!
I'm getting extremely low!

I can't thank everyone enough lately...you have all been so amazing at supporting me with food donations for the hedgehogs. As you can probably imagine , I use alot of wet meat and kitten biscuits on a daily basis so I appreciate every single item that gets donated. ( even if its just 1 tin of meat - it all helps).
These donations are from Clare Andrews and Jo ( Netties finder)...I even had a thankyou card 🥰
Thankyou so much and to everyone for helping me to help the hedgehogs.

Warning...May make you itch!
2nd toddler today is Sir Prickles seen toddling about on his own at lunchtime. 153g.
His skin is so bad and crusty that he couldn't even curl up. The amount of seed ticks in every place imaginable!
Medicated bath, sub-cut fluids, pain relief and alot of time and patience...
He's lost alot of spines in places but underneath that flaky skin , there is in fact new spines breaking through.
He must feel so much better and can now curl right up into a ball.
His weight has also gone up already to 179g.
He is rather cute! Love how he puts his arm up as if to say ' don't forget to scrub under there please hooman'

2 more toddlers in today...
We'll start with Nettie.
Found out in the day by a young lad up the park.
Weighing 244g and covered in ticks.
Sub-cut fluids, heat pad, ticks removed and treatment started for lungworm.
What a difference already...up and eating and has already put on some weight bringing her up to 267g.

Hi! My name is Poppy.
Weighing in at only 192g I should still be with my mummy and my brothers and sisters but I can't find them!
When I realised I was lost and all alone, I found a nice pile of leaves to sleep under untill they came and found me.
Luckily the pile of leaves were in a garden where a kind hooman found me and sent me to get big and strong at the hogspital.
When I'm a big girl, the rescue lady said I could go back to my garden to find my family 💕🦔
