Their drive and ceaseless energy levels can become problematic if not properly channeled. Because of their intensity and constant desire to work, Mals are more often employed on a job than kept as a family pet. For decades, Mals have made excellent search and rescue, bomb and narcotics, and tracking dogs.

The Belgian Malinois are loyal and alert, especially around the humans they love. Early socialization with other people and animals, exposure to different sights and sounds, and positive reinforcement training are a must for a well-rounded Mal.

🐾💈 WHAT IS DESHEDDING AND CAN MY DOG BENEFIT?

Unwanted fur in the home can be one of the biggest headaches for dog-owners, particularly in the hotter seasons. Many people spend hours brushing their dogs to no avail. De-shedding dogs is an option but many people often wonder, is it worth it?

De shedding is the physical removal of a dog’s loose undercoat. The idea is to remove the hair before it lands on your furniture and clothes, but it also makes your dog more comfortable. Groomers use multiple tools and methods to de-shed dogs depending on their coat type.

De-shedding should be done regularly, and once you’re on a good schedule, the effects will be more noticeable and your dog will feel fresh and cooler, especially as the weather becomes warmer.

The Parson Russell Terrier has two coat types: smooth and broken (rough). Both require regular brushing'the smooth with a thick brush or hound glove, and the rough with a pin or slicker brush. Rough coats will require plucking or clipping to avoid matting of the longer hairs. A monthly bath should be sufficient, unless the Parson follows his nature and ends up digging in the mud.

The Bernese Mountain dog is a large working breed that has a double coat with the guard coat longer than the undercoat and needs to be groomed every 4 – 8 weeks.

As long as the undercoat is removed the outer guard coat will provide shade for your dog during the summer.
