❤️Introduction Sessions❤️

What do these include -

ACE freework (Animal Centred Education) - This gives your dog a chance to explore the salon and build positive associations.

STUFF training. - Introductions to lots of different equipment/objects to desensitise and prepare for sharp objects being used for grooming.

Games - These are not only fun and help me build a bond with your dog! These are also used to train your dog to WANT to get on the table or in the bath, etc.

**These type of sessions will also benefit older dogs that are nervous/scared of grooming**

I've also watched Rethinking puppy introductions, with Sue Williamson, taking the grr out of the grooming webinar.

I'm seeing so many dogs that find grooming stressful. Their well-being is my top priority ❤️

I may be reaching out to a few of my regular customers over the next few weeks to put my new knowledge into practice ❤️🙏

If you missed the cut-off for puppy sessions, it's not too late for your dog to become comfortable with grooming.

As your dog will probably be ready or very close to needing a haircut, these sessions are required once a week for 4 weeks.

I'm experiencing an increasing number of dogs that are uncomfortable with the grooming process.

It's important that these issues are addressed, most importantly for the dogs' well-being but also for mine 😂🙈.

My aim is that all your dogs will be happy and relaxed during grooming.

I will be signing up for some new behavioural courses over the next few months.

How often should my dog be groomed?

It's important to keep your dogs on a regular grooming schedule to maintain healthy skin and coat.

Dogs that have a regular routine are also happier and less stressed during grooming.

Fluffy, long, not short means keeping a 4 - 6 week schedule.

❤️Puppy Introduction❤️

I have 7 years of experience, grooming dogs from all ages, sizes, and breeds.

I have invested thousands (and thousands) of pounds on my training and ongoing education in dog grooming.

If you want your dog to be relaxed and behaved during grooming, your puppy will need to be desensitised from an early age. 12 - 14 weeks.

Bathing and brushing at home is a great start. However, in most cases, this isn't enough to desensitise your dog properly and will cause behavioural issues during grooming. This will make grooming more expensive for you.

I have groomed so many dogs from 12 weeks old, and they have become the very best, chilled out dogs for grooming.

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing a lot of stressed-out dogs at the moment, and it's breaking my heart to see them so upset.

I have worked with many dogs with behavioural issues successfully in the past. But honestly, I've not had so many on my books at once 😥 and so young.

For this reason, I'm going to be closing my diary for puppies/young dogs unless they are or have been booked in for my 3 puppy introduction sessions between 12-14 weeks - 6 months of age.

It's only Alfies 2nd visit to the groomer, so he needs a little more desensitisation before we will be able to groom his face.

Slow introductions will make sure you have a happy dog that's confident with grooming ❤️
