My Story

Hi my name is Andrea, I started Candy Care recently after working with dogs in a day care for a year and a half. I previously volunteered as a kennel assistant with The Dogs Trust. I have experience working with various breeds and understanding dogs body language, temperament and play style. I am confident walkings dogs and am a great believer of positive reinforcement for dogs.

In my previous role I have shadowed dog trainers and undertaken in house training based on positive reinforcement working on things such as four paws on the floor (stopping jumping up), redirecting puppies from nipping/mouthing of a persons hand etc, onto a toy and building this into their play time, name recognition, gate/door manners,basic tricks such as sit, lie down, paw and roll over to build the dogs confidence, and general enrichment games such as find the treat under an object. I can include this in my service particualry with puppies. If you are requiring further training for your dog I have contacts with some excellent dog trainers who are certified and very experienced.

Candy Care is named after my dog who has been with the family for almost 13 years. Candy is a typical Staffordshire Bull terrier cross, loving, affectionate and loves people. Candy sadly won't join me on our walks as she is an elderly lady who prefers her home comforts now. My page is dedicated to Candy and my aim is to mainly walk dogs on a solo or very small group basis to keep things safe, personalised and stress free. I am fully insured for pet services and trained in canine first aid, I also hold a disclosure Scotland certificate all of which I have copies of should you wish to see these.
