Glenbrae Veterinary Clinic was first opened in January 1990 by Wendy McGrandles. By 1995 the practice had grown enough to need another full time vet and in 1996 we moved into our extended premises in Bearsden, Glasgow. The practice continued to go from strength to strength and in June 2007 we moved a short distance into much bigger purpose designed premises (double the size of our Baljaffray cllin

ic). In 1997 we opened our branch surgery in Dumbarton, which is mainly staffed by the same staff members as our main Glenbrae surgery ensuring good continuity of cases. Our enthusiastic, dedicated team aims to provide the highest level of small animal veterinary care in an environment that makes you and your pet feel welcome. Our team of vets (ably assisted by highly trained vet nurses) are here to give their best attention to any pet, whether it needs a routine health check and vaccination or an emergency, life-saving operation. Most of our patients are dogs and cats, but we are seeing an increasing number of small furry pets, birds and more exotic species. We keep a detailed medical record throughout your pet’s life as this aids treatment and enables us to ensure the best care for your pet’s well-being. All of the staff have pets of their own and we understand that your pet is a much-loved member of the family. We always bear this in mind when treating our patients.

Cheeky explorers Hugo and Inka were in to see the nurses this morning for their 6mthly Pet Health Club check, this is an appointment with out nurses that is included in their monthly plan and takes place 6mths after your pets’ booster appointment with the vet- this means your furry friends receive 2 full MOTs a year! Joining your pets to the Pet Health Club costs as little as 69p a day, spreads the cost of preventative vet care over the year and entitles you and your pet to plant of benefits.

Inka in particular was keen to jump and explore, Hugo was more interested in charming treats out of Cat!

Maybe check your legs, too, if you are wearing shorts. 😬

✅ Also, if you are a Pet Health Club member, speak to your vet practice about tick treatment for the summer months. It's included in your membership.

Meet the team 🥰

This is Emma!

“Hello, I’m Emma and I’m a student veterinary nurse at Glenbrae 😊 I’m really interested in animal behaviour and how I can minimise fear, anxiety and stress in pets coming into the vet clinic. I also really enjoy all aspects of inpatient care as well as lab work and analysis. I’ll hopefully be qualifying within the next year (all going well!) and am really looking forward to seeing my skills develop and expand” 📚🐾

Dog Friendly Clinic Advocates 🐾❤️

Our Student Veterinary Nurse, Emma, and Client Care Assistant, Clare have both recently completed the Dogs Trust Dog Friendly Clinic Certification to become certified dog friendly advocates 🐾

The Dog Friendly Clinic Scheme is a collaborative project between Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association. The aim of our Dog Friendly Clinic Scheme is to make the provision of veterinary care the most comfortable experience possible for everyone involved and covers dog behaviour, minimising stress in the clinic and tools to help enhance the client-clinic bond through positive patient, owner, and clinic interactions 💛

Well done Emma & Clare! 🐾

⚠️ ⚠️⚠️WARNING NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH!!! ⛔️ ⛔️⛔️ Tick season is upon us again we have been removing a lot of them in the last few weeks! It’s time to make sure you are parasite treating your dogs and cats especially if they like to walk and run in long grass!!! Remember ticks bite humans too so your pets ticks may then bite and latch on to you!! Remember treatment is included in your Pet Health Club monthly direct debit so call the practice to order your treatments!

This is Beth!

“Hi I’m Beth. I have been an RVN for 9 years. I really enjoy my job as every day is different and you have no idea what’s going to walk through the door. I am a clinical coach which means I train future vet nurses which I really enjoy. I also love inpatient care and dentistry” 🐶🦷❤️

❗️😷 Our vets have seen a recent spike of Kennel Cough infection over the last week!

🦠 Kennel cough is the common name given to infectious bronchitis in dogs. It causes a dry hacking or goose-honking non-productive cough, and sometimes retching, increased temperature, and a reduction in appetite.

❤️‍🩹 Similar to the human flu, it is usually a self-limiting virus that doesn't require any antibiotic treatment. Best to keep your dog away from other dogs as they will be contagious- including skipping daycare & dog walkers. We can to see your pet to assess them further if you feel they are not well.

💉 XX was in for his booster vaccinations including his intranasal kennel cough to keep him protected. Similar to the COVID vaccination, it doesn't stop your dog from getting kennel cough, but helps them to fight the virus and get better sooner!

💜 Please call the practice if you'd like to book in or chat about the kennel cough vaccination for your pet.

We would love to see if anyone has any of these beautiful breeds 🥰🥰
