Very proud breeder moment ☺️

The gorgeous Hilda(and owner Kathy Ferguson) had their very first cat show on Saturday. I tagged along to give them some support. What can I say. They did me proud 🥰🥰🥰🥰

ShakaCoonz Mrs Ogden of Kertesz, came away with 2 firsts, a Best of Breed and a third. Not too bad wee girlie 🥰

FOR THE ATTENTION OF ALL MY KITTEN OWNERS and any BREEDERS THAT HAVE BEEN FED THESE LIES

Some pretty serious allegations have been made, to other breeders, regarding my cats and kittens. Luckily, these allegations are easy enough to disprove.

First allegation: My house is in such a state that I NEVER allow new owners to come to my house. I apparently send all my kittens to their new homes via couriers. I get anxiety at the thought of strangers in my house. Bad childhood, my house is my private space. My safe haven. BUT, other than two owners, who I met part way to cut a couple of hours of their journey, every single one of my kitten parents has come to my house. I don’t allow visitors until they have had their 1st vaccinations at 9 weeks. After that, they are welcome to come see their new baby. That means that some are in my house twice. Once, to visit and again to pick up their kitten.

Second allegation: My cats are kept in such bad conditions, particularly my stud, that I’ve had to have an inspection. They apparently wanted to track down my stud’s breeder to inform them. I don’t know how many breeders have been fed these lies. Which is why I’ve had to do this publicly. I have no idea who’s supposed to have done the inspection. I have no idea what the supposed outcome of said inspection was.

The person making the allegations has never been in my house. She is a friend of a friend and there was already bad blood between us. I have no idea why now. The tension between us started around a year ago. But that part’s irrelevant.

Now, I will be the first to admit that my house is far from a spotless show home. I have clutter, after effects of having nothing(bar the clothes in my back) as a child and as an adult. I find it difficult to get rid of possessions or things that “could” come in handy. My house is very much lived in and I also have dogs. There may be some hair on the floor, hair on the cat trees or dishes in the sink. My back door has muddy pawprints on the outside. I have dogs. They jump at the door to let me know they want back in 🤷‍♀️

BUT, my home certainly isn’t a health hazard for my animals.

*What I need from you*

Can my new owners confirm that they picked up their kittens, from inside my home. Also any comments regarding the conditions of my cats and how they are kept. Most will have seen dad as well, so can you comment if there were any concerns regarding him too.

Sorry to have had to ask this. I am a very private person. The last thing I want to do is draw attention to myself. I get major anxiety and I’m very socially awkward so the last thing I want to do is put myself under the spotlight and ask people’s opinions, regarding my cats and my home. I’m backed into a corner though, as they are trying to destroy my reputation as a breeder, so I have no choice

HOW MUCH FOR A KITTEN?

Let me say a few words to you, yes to you, the person writing an email, just to ask for the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisingly says: "I can buy a cheaper kitten elsewhere". I speak to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want "just a pet".

No cat is “just a pet”.

Behind every purebred kitten there is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder will not breed undocumented cats, which does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are lineage records that document the bloodline and enable one to investigate possible health problems in the lineage. When you tell a breeder that you don't care about papers, you are really telling them that you care no less about the kitten's health, just the cheapest thing you can find! When you buy a kitten from a reputable and high quality breeder, that breeder is responsible for the health of every kitten; this breeder is skipping the holidays, missing out on sleeping and most of their personal home space has been converted into space for their cats. The truly passionate breeder who loves what they breed puts all of their heart and soul into it. Not only with kittens that are sold, but also with every customer who has a piece of their heart and is now a member of their extended family. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and take them back without question.

A breeder will "get their hands dirty", often burdened with everything that comes with giving birth. Because that's what life is about ... In the midst of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder pays much more than you pay, for the right breeding cats, from health tested lines, from another reputable BREEDER. They then carry out genetic tests, scans, x-rays, analyzes, emergency operations, vaccinations, quality food, litter, family trees, deworming and microchips for their kittens and has them assessed by specialists.

Last but not least, a breeder chooses the family lucky enough to have one of their kittens. Yes, you read that right. A real breeder chooses who to sell to because he doesn't make any money selling it. There is no compensation that can offset the investments made by a breeder. Hence, they need to be sure that they fit properly. Often saying no more than yes ... A good breeder has different criteria for those who want to continue their bloodline. Why? Since breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it is a lifestyle choice reserved ONLY for the devoted few who are willing to sacrifice.

Because a cat is never "just a pet" it is the breeder's legacy, a little boy's best friend, a protector for little girls, therapy for the elderly, a family member, someone's whole world !!!

Just for a bit more awareness ❗️
Unfortunately one of my cats Iv bred managed to get hold of some Lily’s that where going out for the bin from an old Bouquet 💐 ☠️
This was a total accident and when his owner realised she rushed him straight to the vets, if she didn’t act as quickly as she did we wouldn’t of had a happy ending. Luckily today his bloods came back normal after 2 days at the vets receiving fluids and activated charcoal.
We are so lucky this time, please be carful around cats even when you try to be sensible things can happen. I’m guilty of it my self but I always lock them away in my front room.
