Exciting news!! Neighbourhood Vet Gosport are now offering a new nurse-led service!

If your pet is expecting, Tiffany, one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses is now available to perform ultrasound scans of mums-to-be to confirm pregnancy and monitor the growth of the fur babies. General health advice for expectant mothers (non-human!) is also available as part of the service!

Don't hesitate to contact the practice today to learn more - let's keep those tails wagging!🐶

Our friends at J.A.K run a monthly competition and the prize is a box of 60 Freddos.
Well, after years of trying to win this elusive prize our time has finally come…We won!!

Mari Makko MRCVS

Mari graduated as a vet from Estonian Agricultural University in 2005. To give herself a chance to grow professionally, she moved to UK in 2014 and have been working in different practices and fantastic teams ever since.
2024 started for her by joining the amazing Neighbourhood Vet Gosport team.
Her special interests are dentistry and dermatology but she also has a great passion in helping exotic pets.
At home she has a grumpy old cat called Panthro aka Gimmefood who gives her a masterclass in feline behavior every single day.

We are so happy to have Mari as part of our team!

Handsome Timone and Pumba came in to see our nursing team for nail clips today. Being fairly new to their owner we just did some treat feeding and getting them used to being in the practice 😀

UPDATE - Owner found, thank you to everyone that shared the post!

This kitten has been handed into us today, female we believe around 4/5 months. She is chipped however this is not registered.
We need to find the owners ASAP as she requires medical attention.

*Found cat*
Sadly we have had a deceased black and white cat handed in to us this morning. Neutered male, likely around 2-4 years old. Sadly this cat does not have a chip and was found in Felicia Close.

We have had this gorgeous little fella handed into us, sadly no microchip. He was found in Gosport.

Beautiful girls Merida and Kiara belong to our VCA Hayley. They were in for their first vaccinations yesterday.
Did you know that around 80% of ginger cats are male? This is because the gene that controls ginger color is on the X chromosome, and females have two X chromosomes, so they need two copies of the gene to be ginger. Males only need one copy of the gene from their mother. 🧡

Today we welcome Angus, a beautiful St Bernard pup. He enjoyed cuddles with our team and we are super happy to welcome him to the practice. After recently losing their beloved 9 year old, Rebel, we are so pleased our clients have a St Bernard in their lives again 🥰

**Christmas starts early at Neighbourhood Vet!**
Handsome Barney came in yesterday after he had eaten something he shouldn’t have.
We’d like to say congratulations to him for setting a new record for our earliest ever mince pie toxicity!!
Luckily Barney’s owners got him here in time and we were able to make him vomit up the contents.

This is a gentle reminder as we approach the big C period to ensure you are keeping mince pies, chocolates and Christmas cake as far away from your four legged pals as possible.

For those of you that don’t know, we have a K-Laser in practice which helps with wound management as well as a range of acute and chronic conditions. Your pet will be required to wear a pair of trendy ‘doggles’, here’s Helen and Tim demonstrating them! Happy Wednesday!

*K-LaserTherapy success story* Bella was presented to Neighbourhood Vet Gosport with a horrible tail pull injury which resulted in her loosing all sensation in her tail! Usually with tail pull injuries where the nerves are compressed or damaged this can result In the amputation of the tail due to the function not returning or due to the damage of the tail killing off the surrounding tissue. BUT with two treatments a week for six weeks Bella regained full control of her tail and is completely back to her normal crazy self, jumping around the house and causing trouble again. The K-Laser works by firing infrared laser light into the surrounding tissue at a cellular level. This increases the metabolic activity within the cell stimulating the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane to initiate increased production of cellular energy, leading to a cascade of beneficial events promoting the acceleration of the healing process and reduced pain. Below are some videos of when Bella first came to us (other videos in the comments) during her recovery and after all treatment has finished. We are so glad that Bella is doing well and we were able to save her tail.
