🐾 Did you know that sniffing is a fantastic form of enrichment for your dog?!🐶
Your dog’s sense of smell is extraordinary.🤩
Depending on their breed, your furry companion will have between 220 million and 300 million scent receptors compared to a humans measly 5 to 6 million! And did you also know that if you were to remove a dog’s mucus membrane from their nose it would cover their entire body whilst ours is the size of a postage stamp?!!
Dogs are truly amazing and their sense of smell is their primary sense that helps them to understand and navigate the world. Just by sniffing another dog’s urine they can discover a wealth of information, such as the dog’s age, sex, diet and even if they are unwell by simply having a whiff.🐶
At BPawsitive we actively encourage you to let your dog sniff, it’s a wonderful source of enrichment and is also mentally stimulating. Active sniffing is equivalent to one hours worth of physical exercise! It’s truly astounding.🤩
