This is an important part of his conservative management of Bilateral Cranial Cruciate Disease.

In appointments we focus on treating pain and inflammation through both stifles, and promote muscle building in the surrounding musculature, as well as treating secondary issues such as back muscle soreness and increased tone through compensating muscles (such as in this photo) which compensate for his adjusted posture.

Congratulations on your retirement Julie! I have loved working with you over the past few years. I am looking forward to my new venture- thank you so much to you and Tom for all of your support. I have very big shoes to fill!

This is Dylan, the little boy who changed my life. It was because of his severe hip issues that I trained to start my hydro business. For the last 10years or so I have had the immense pleasure of helping so many dogs with varying physical problems, learning so much along the way. Today, I have retired and the wonderful Sarah Marlor (www.strechandflexvetphysio.com) will be taking over the treadmill from next month and I know my clients will be in safe and brilliant hands.
Thank you all for your support throughout this amazing time of my life. The biggest thanks of all must go to my husband, Tom, who has encouraged, supported and then joined me in this endeavour - he is truly amazing.

And that’s a wrap for 2024. So grateful to all the clients, vets, therapists and of course animals that I have been lucky enough to work with! Thank you everyone for keeping me so busy!

2025 is going to be the biggest year yet, with some massive developments in the form of my very own clinic and doggy underwater treadmill, as well as some new exciting treatments and assessment methods! I can’t wait to be able to offer a complete hydro and physio service for your doggy friends! In the meantime I am going to make the most of a week off, from now until 3rd January.

Day 5: Acupuncture is for:
Reducing chronic pain where conventional medications are inadequate or producing unwanted side effects

Often, living with an ongoing painful condition, such as arthritis, can lead to ‘chronic pain syndrome’. This is essentially where the body’s nervous system signalling goes awry, producing pain signals from non-painful stimuli such as touch or light pressure, turning up the ‘volume’ on painful stimuli so what was experienced as mild or moderate becomes intense, or expanding the area of pain from, e.g. a knee joint to a whole limb.

Anti-inflammatory medications are unhelpful for this type of pain as its source is the nervous system itself (the nerves carrying pain fibres, or the central pain processing centres in the brain) - not inflammation.

Simba here, as a result of arthritis in his wrist joints and hip dysplasia, had got to the point where he could hardly walk despite being on painkillers. He was depressed, could barely be bothered to eat and his poor owner was considering the unthinkable to ease his suffering. She contacted me and thankfully Simba allowed me to treat him despite his discomfort. Within two weeks he was a different dog - gambolling around with the rest of the pack and rolling around on the floor. Alongside physiotherapy he continues to have maintenance sessions of acupuncture to keep him as mobile as possible into his old age.
