After my sit with Ralphie and the wedding, I went on a two week pet sit with two of my favourites, Connie & Daisy, the spaniel sisters 😍

We had a great time together, though I was unfortunately depressed for the duration of the sit, as it was two days after the wedding and I was desperately missing my new husband 😢
It was very hard. Harder than I thought it would be, but the girls kept me busy 😅

I captured a lot of photos of the girls, and got to see a lot of nature as my clients’ garden is so full of plant life 😍 it’s beautiful- one of my favourites 💕

Thank you to my clients, Eloise and Darren, for having me pet sit these lovely girls again 💜

Please enjoy the photos I captured during this sit ☺️👇🏻

My apologies all.
I have been on my honeymoon with my new husband 😍
We explored the Mediterranean for 15 days, and though it was absolutely amazing, the WiFi was pretty terrible 😂
🌙💕

Anyway, after my adventure in Armathwaite, I had two more fantastic pet sits before I got married ☺️

I met Ralph and his parents for the first time in March of this year and I instantly fell in love with this new client—first off, he is a beautiful breed that I hadn’t had the opportunity to work with before then, a Catalan sheepdog 😍

-Catalan sheepdogs are visually shaggy dogs that can look very similar to old English sheepdogs, but are notably smaller in size and originate from the Spanish Pyrenees. They are known for their high intelligence and problem solving skills, loyalty, and very high energy personalities 😅
They are popular herding dogs and excel at agility and obedience training, very often seen being shown at dog shows 🤩 unlike OES they are compatible with hot weather due to their heritage, so can withstand the heat longer than other dog breeds, but can still become overheated and dehydrated-

Ralph’s personality is wicked unique, which I love. His specific quirks instantly piqued my interest when we met, and at our meet and sleep I got to study him and to really appreciate his personality 😊 We got on and I had a great time being with him as I really enjoy going for walks in nature, and to my excitement, Ralph proved to be a serious wilderness explorer 🌳
He was always itching to go walking and explore new places in the area, anywhere except where he usually goes with his parents 😬😅 he wanted to explore 🎒

During our first pet sit in May (which ended four days before my wedding) we grew closer and went on lots of fun adventures in the sun ☀️ Ralph met a drove of donkeys up in a field and decided he liked them 😂

One day he decided he wanted to try walking the entire motorway in the neighbourhood, in 30 degree heat 😱😅

We gave it a good old fashioned go and made it more than half way, and the whole time I was monitoring the temperature of the pavement and checking his ears etc, and eventually the ground was really warming up, so I had us turn around and start the walk back, much to his disappointment 😂 he didn’t understand why. We were having a great time and covered a lot of distance, which made me proud of our resilience in the heat 😅 but I had to do my job and put Ralph’s health first 👍🏻

We played ball in the garden on and off all day, every day.
Ralph has an obsessive-compulsive habit with balls and doesn’t stop chasing so long as you throw them, so it’s important to limit the play time.
This might sound silly and like I’m being mean to him by taking away his favourite thing, so allow me to explain- Ralph will continue to chase balls until it becomes a detriment to his health (exhaustion, dehydration, starvation, sun stroke etc) in any weather, any time of day, if he had an injury etc etc. He will not stop until he collapses.

We sunbathed out in his parents’ garden of an afternoon 🕶️☀️
A part of my duties whilst on the pet sit was watering the garden, and whenever I would be sprinkling with the hose, Ralph would come under it -presumably for a refreshing shower- and then go and sit in the shade to cool down ☺️

We had lots of fun, and when it came to leaving, Ralph loudly protested next to my suitcase 😂

I am due to sit him again in September, for a bit longer this time, and I cannot wait 🥰

Please enjoy the photos I captured during this sit with the gorgeous boy 😊👇🏻

My apologies (as always) for the late posting—I’ve just been getting married 😜

My first petsit since Melton Mowbray was absolutely, without a doubt, my new favourite petsit, and the best one this year 🤩

I was in Armathwaite, Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Omg. The beauty 😍

On the 28th April through to the 9th of May, I stayed in the most beautiful and peaceful place I’ve ever been to date — Drybeck Farm 🥰

I had the best adventures with a new friend I made at the farm, and our two canine adventurer companions, Claude and Dandy 💕

I explored the area; mapped the nearby River Eden, saw my first Eurasian oystercatcher, my first whooping swan, and got to hold and rescue a greylag gosling and a Eurasian oystercatcher chick!

I was lucky enough to visit The Lake District with my new friends! We walked 8.94KM and got to take in the most incredible views at Ullswater Lake, then visited Derwentwater Lake where we had a picnic and saw over 20 different dog breeds! 😱🤩

On my third to last day, my new friend took us to The Penines, where the mountains and sky went on forever, and all you could see were the paths people had gradually trodden into the ground over the years.

The view was absolutely spectacular. Being from a small Kentish town where nature is scarce, it was like nothing I’d ever seen, and the true justification of why I worship nature and it’s beauty. There is just nothing like it.
🥹🌳🌷🪺

I fell in love with Armathwaite, and Cumbria as a whole 💕
The nature, the walks, River Eden, The Lakes, The Penines … by the end of my sit I wanted to move there so I could wake up every morning to the sight of the sunrise amidst rolling sheep fields, and the distinctive call of barn swallows and chiffchaffs.

The dogs were lovely little characters who loved to travel and explore 😊

I miss them and my new friend a lot and dream of the time when I get to visit again 😍

Please enjoy the photos I captured in this breathtaking place 💜

I am now, currently, back in Melton Mowbray with my old boys, Dennis and Gnasher 🥰
A regular favourite of mine for 3 years, Dennis and Gnasher are special needs- Dennis having advanced dementia and Gnasher following behind with leg problems.

The boys don’t like being in each other’s space and so there is often a LOT of grumbling 😂

Dennis can be a tad irritating with his dementia making him do silly, dangerous things such as jumping from the top step of the stairs or jumping through one of the bannister spaces to get to me faster 🤦🏼‍♀️ or throwing up constantly after he’s eaten food, forgetting where the water is; sundowning after dinner and just barking at the front door for NOOOO sodding reason 😂 and even getting confused and jumping into my bath when he wants to be with me 🫤🤣 but I love him and he is my crazy, crazy lad who sleeps like an ange on my lap and is absolutely obsessed with licking my skin 😂

Gnash is also a darling and I love spending time with him. He is the more compís mentís of the two but still does daft things like gorging on the longest grass he can find; it getting stuck in his throat and he proceeds to try (to no avail) to hack it up for the next four hours whilst I’m watching telly 😂 or coming in to the toilet and trying to jump into my lap whilst I’m peeing, and then standing on two legs to reach the water in the toilet bowl and drink it after it’s been flushed 🤦🏼‍♀️ Again… wtf? 😂

Never a dull day here at the parsons russel mental hospital and I love it 🤣🥰💕

Tried to do a photoshoot to get some pictures with my oldies that I might be able to print out, blow up and frame… but what can I say? They don’t like each other 😂 (and please excuse my bo***es. They are large and most definately in charge! 🤣)

Please enjoy the photos I have captured of the boys on this sit so far 👇🏻

After my meet and sleep with Ralph and his parents, I had a few days at home where my fiancé and I attended meetings with service providers for our wedding 🤩, and on the 29th of March I made my journey to Hilgay in Norfolk.

- For backstory, in early February I went on a meet and sleep away in Norfolk to meet two lovely ladies who wanted me to care for their two furbaby sons Jasper and Alfie.
The meet and sleep went very well and I fell instantly in love with the boys. They were so well behaved and so well trained by their mums; they were full of spaniel energy and lots of affection for people 😊 -

Hilgay is a lovely little village. I absolutely adored its rural aesthetic and cosy, “everyone knows everyone” neighbourhood vibe 💕

On arrival to the house I was met with kisses and waggle-bums with plushy toys outstretched - signature spaniel behaviour - I was so happy to be there after my long journey, and immediately, all my negative energy was gone 😊

These boys are so wonderful to be around and are such lovely company, especially at night time when I start to miss my lot back home- they would always be wanting attention, to have some enrichment, to play with their toys, to be in the garden and play fetch with me, or to go on their regularly scheduled walks 🥰

I loved how involved and full-on their days were. They had EVERYTHING they could possibly wish for provided by their parents. Even enrichment tools, which many owners don’t think about for gundogs. But they are extremely important if you don’t want them ripping things up or screaming at all hours 🤣

We had a marvellous time together, and partway though the sit, the cleaner, Kayleigh, told me about a walk nearby that tapered off into a nature walk! so that evening I took Jasper and Alfie in that walk and I can confidently say that I have NEVER seen so many species of wildlife in such a short amount of time outside 🤩 Holy Mother, it was breathtaking. As a person who gets physical joy from seeing animals, this walk was something I’d dream up in my head when I’m sleeping 💕

At first there was nothing but insects and robins, but then I saw sheep 🐑😍 adorable!, then I heard male pheasants and caught the hens as they ran into the bushes; I heard and saw jackdaws flying above me, there was a woodpecker in the tree across the dead hedge, hammering its beak into the old oak tree in the next field across from us, and blue t**s, great t**s and black caps were flitting from one hazel tree to the other, instantly alerted by the dogs.

We kept going and I soon saw a water vole in the stream that ran the length of the path. It went on for miles.
Then we hit a part in the road where it was full of mud that a tractor has obviously churned up. At this point I noticed white-tailed deer in the long grass in front of us, separated by chicken wire. The dogs watched intently as the deer shuffled around, analysing us from the safety of the growing crops. They were so beautiful. I am vehemently against invasive species taking over our ecosystem, but they were so enchanting, I couldn’t help but admire them 😊

We continued on and every meter we experienced more life; birds of prey were starting to emerge as dusk was taking hold. The sky was turning orange above us as I listened to the unmistakable call of a sparrowhawk, mixed in with all the other bird vocalisations; robins, blackbirds, t**s, pheasants, corvids… it was a wonderful orchestra of twilight birdsong.

I took a moment to capture some very blurry photos of the deer in the field, but lots more of the breathtaking scenery. The male pheasants never stopped crying the entire time we were there; all different individuals at different stages of the walk, but they were always there in the background. Once it got quiet and it seemed silent, one of the males would break it with their call, reminding me that I was not in Gravesend anymore.

The countryside was so peaceful. I can see why mum wants to move out into it. There’s nothing quite like being right in the center of nature and listening to all the different creatures living their lives.

We eventually got so far away from the entrance of the walk, we saw cows. Around 15 Holstein fresian heifers and nearly adolescent calves, grazing on the grass.
As we continued to walk and I admired them, one of the boys whined, alerting them to our presence. The biggest mama turned to face us, and even as we moved forwards and turned a corner, she never broke her line of sight, always watching us, fiercely guarding the young ones, who were resting under a tree a bit further away.

As we turned the corner and continued along the path, the big mama and two other heifers called to the calves, who subsequently ran over to them. The heifers then made a circle, closing the youngsters inside.
I’ve never witnessed this behaviour before and was enthralled by it. I couldn’t look away until Jasper pulled at me to keep going, then I broke my gaze and carried on.

We made it a few metres further and then started to head back the way we came from. It was getting dark and the boys hadn’t had dinner yet. We almost lost track of time completely.

On our way back we saw and heard more birds, I caught a glimpse of two muntjac deer in a field (so there were two species of deer there) and managed to see a hare for a few seconds before it hopped away. Absolutely fantastic!
We saw more pheasants, caught a kestrel in a tree, saw several rats racing around in the low light and watched as a crew of four mallard drakes flew over us, honking all the way.

It sounds untrue but not long after we got to see a gaggle of geese stick a landing in the field where we had previously seen the white-tailed deer, which was amazing 🤩 They landed in silence and then immediately erupted into dreadful noise 😂

A few more encounters took place before we found the entrance we came from; I saw various bats fluttering around the large tree (probably pipistrelles, serotines and/or barbastelles judging by their appearance and flight patterns)

Then I saw a sparrowhawk. Whether it was the one I’d heard earlier or not, I’m not sure, but it was fascinating to watch hunting on the tall grass, then it caught something and flew up into a tree out of sight.

And finally, I saw four common brown rabbits in a field that then saw us and darted into the safety of the hedges; followed by a close encounter (snoot poking through the fence close) with a curious red fox, who didn’t run away, even when Jasper and Alfie started whining and pulling to get closer. He just sat there and watched us. Precious creature.
Once we got home, we had dinner (it was about 21:45PM) and then went to bed.

This was unquestionably my most unbelievable petsit this year, just because of the sheer amount of wildlife I got to see in just two evenings in Hilgay, after discovering the nature path, thanks to Kayleigh.

Please enjoy the photos I captured in Hilgay, Norfolk of Jasper, Alfie, and the beautiful Norfolk countryside 👇🏻

13/04/2025

After hearing of the first loss I’ve had since 2016, when I lost my great grandmother, I fell off for about four days and almost purposely missed a scheduled meet and sleep session with a prospective client, because of my emotions.

I felt guilt on top of the grief I was feeling having lost my friend, because I wasn’t her parent so I didn’t have the right to feel so upset about her passing… It was hard, because although I’ve loved her and cared for her all the we’ve spent together, I shouldn’t be selfish and make it about me. There are two people I know who are being effected far worse than me.

So, I pulled myself together and decided to force myself to go to the meet and sleep, as I said I would. It would be good for me at this time to go and meet a new client and their pet, who would then also become my friend 😊

On the 21st of March I made my journey to Eltham to meet my client face-to-face 😊
It was a familiar route by train as I used to get to college every day the same way, back when I was studying, and it was a familiar area that I knew well once I arrived.

My client was lovely and friendly when I met her at the station, and once we arrived at her house she and her husband were both very hospitable, and once again, very understanding of my anxieties of asking for things and helping myself to items in their home 😌

I met Ralph, their dog, a Catalan sheepdog. I’ve only ever met one other and that was in 2018, in a park near my college. I remember seeing the coat colouration and being amazed. Ralph looked the same; he had a brown and ginger ombré coat that was so straight and soft it looked like he’d just been to the groomers 😊

I went on a walk with my client and Ralph, to see his daily route. It was a lovely little walk that lead to a spacious park that was frequented by lots of other owners and dogs; Ralph is slightly dog reactive, so we kept our distance. My client told me about his past and why he now had selective reactivity- almost breed-specific. Brachy breeds rubbed him the wrong way. I made notes for the future.

The weather was glorious the whole weekend and my clients actually decided that they would take advantage of the situation and go to London for the Saturday and Sunday 🥰
It was wonderful that my service could facilitate a small trip away 💕

Ralph was good as gold when his parents were away. We went on adventures and played fetch or frisbee in the garden. A couple of times we went to the park, he actually had a friendly interaction with the dogs who approached us. Both times the dog was a Labrador 😅
On a third and final walk before mum and dad got home, Ralph decided to walk us all the way to Hither Green 😂 I was told he knew where to take me so I allowed him to tell me where to go -this has happened so many times before where they play me like a guitar. You’d have thought I’d learned my lesson 😂- I found out pretty late on into the trek that he was in fact just taking us on the longest ramble in the world, without food or water 🤣

On our adventure we met some cats and saw lots of other dogs. We met some lovely people who complimented him, though an awful lot of them misbreeded him - apparently the only sheepdog that anyone knows is the “Andrex dog”, which is actually a bearded collie, but I never have the heart to correct them 😅
Ah well, never mind!

I bought us both a vegan ice cream (no cows milk, no chocolate) and we headed home. We got lost half way thanks to s super outdated route set by Siri 😂 but got back home just three minutes before his parents walked through the back door 👍🏻

I told mum about our unplanned adventure and confessed to her how enjoyable it actually was. It certainly helped me get my steps in for the day! I was pretty irked at the time we were walking as I didn’t want to miss the clients and they think I’m stupid for walking so far, but I just laughed about it in the end. It was fun and Ralph had a great time, so that’s all that matters 😊

We ran into another Catalan sheepdog on our way back home after two hours rambling. It turned out that they knew each other and the owner was very nice and liked Ralph. Her Catalan was also very handsome, but a lot messier than Ralph 😂

I couldn’t believe my luck.
I hadn’t seen head nor tail of the breed in nine years, and now, two in one day 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
It was fantastic to see them both together and they were quite passive, albeit a bit grumbly 😂

I got to watch some brilliant nature documentaries on two channels I don’t have access to on my TV at home, U & Eden and Sky Nature 💚
I also learnt a bit about orchid husbandry from my client, who had the same magical ability to rear them as my late great grandmother on my mother’s side 🌺 They are a specialist flower I am convinced few are blessed with the skills to care for, and Jackie definately has it 🤩

I cannot wait to return to my clients and Ralph very soon; in fact, Ralph will be my last pet visit before my wedding day on the 22nd of May 😍

He is also booked in for a week in September as well.

This whole session served to reinforce the importance of meet and sleep sessions -especially with prospective clients who are new to the prospect of hiring a pet sitter- and how much of a lucrative investment they are for business and new friendships 😊

Please enjoy the pictures I took on this meet and sleep 🥰👇🏻
And marvel at how glorious and unique Ralphie’s coat is! 🤩

Next up is my pet sit with my regular clients and friends in Wolverhampton 😊

I had another fantastic time with my beloved oldies, Luna and Hercules on the 8th to the 15th of March 💕

It was lovely and sunny so we spent almost every day out in the garden together. When Hercules was out of the way Luna would join me on the couch for SpongeBob and cheeky nibbles 😅🥘

I hugged and kissed my oldies goodbye until the next time and went home in the afternoon on the 15th of March, not knowing that would be my last time caring for Luna…

She was lovingly PTS by her parents the following Thursday. I sent my condolences to my clients and then grieved her myself. I sunk a bit too far into my emotions and almost allowed myself to call off a meet and sleep with a new client, but pulled myself together in time and ended up going- it was a lovely meet and sleep in the end 👍🏻

Luna was my first real canine care client. She was funny, sassy.. a little bit mental 😂 but full of energy and affection.
Even through her advanced dementia she knew who she loved, and who she could trust to keep her safe 🥹
She absolutely adored her two mummies and even though she quite frequently got on his nerves, I believe she also liked the company and familiarity of her brother, Hercules ☺️
They tolerated each other well and even shared food and garden space at times 💕

I will miss Luna as I continue to go to her home to care for her brother, and as I move forward and make bonds with other animals, I’ll think of her and how she trusted me to take care of her when her mums went away, and how slowly but surely she decided I was her friend and someone she could come to for comfort whenever she was scared, whether it was deep within the night time or 2AM in the morning 😅🥹

“It is a huge loss when a loved one or dear friend passes into the next life; naturally we are saddened. They leave us behind and we feel as though we have lost their presence in our lives forever. But we needn’t dispair. For just because we cannot see their physical form, doesn’t mean that they aren’t with us- they’re simply waiting for us beyond what we can see. Waiting for us to come home.”
- Arťemĩs. 🤍

I love you Luna 🥰
Thank you for your friendship. x
