➡️Get ahead for the 2024 eventing season, whether you are new to the sport or just brushing up come along for an afternoon of volunteer training with a BE Technical Advisor and Controller.

➡️Open to all Horse Trials Volunteers with any level of experience. If you have never volunteered before and are just interested in the idea, you are also very welcome.

➡️Musketeer Event Management is offering 2 training sessions; one in Gloucestershire and one in Norfolk giving the opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season as well as a catch-up with friends! Drinks and refreshments will be provided after the training.

More ears, but today they are my gorgeous Indie’s ears! After nearly three months off due to my break and then some more time for her in the box while a cut healed I got back on for the first time today, she was angelic!
Lots of planning and preparation had gone into how I get her through her first few weeks of walk work without a meltdown but a few nights back out in her field in the howling wind has left her serene and worn out, perfect to get on 😅

After a few weeks to chill, this lovely little mare out of training, went out for her first hack today in the howling wind, behaved impeccably and is going to be fab, will have some fun bringing her on over Christmas and the new year

Never thought I’d be excited enough about mucking out to share, however tonight was my first day back doing evening stables, Katy sorted the horses out and I managed to do the rest, it feels like a big step towards normality, I can now clean my teeth, muck out and fold washing! Once I can tie my hair up again I know I will be nearly there 😅

With my first physio session scheduled for Monday, my first gym session complete and my first commission booked in for next week, it’s full steam ahead till the end of October!! Whilst it’s lovely to pop into the yard and catch up with my team, clients and horses, it’s difficult to not get in the way and attempt to do too much, so instead, today I took the opportunity to have a little pastel practise with Mr Fox, if I get organised he may become Christmas cards but don’t hold your breath 😬

⚜️⚜️NOW AVAILABLE ⚜️⚜️ For the first time I am now taking commissions for pet portraits, this will be for a limited time only while I recover from my fall last month. I work in pastels and can work from good quality photographs. I would rather not have to send finished work through the post but of course this can be arranged especially as Christmas is on its way. If you would like any further information or would like to commission a portrait then I would love to hear from you. I will take work on a first come first serve basis and will work on only one portrait at a time, once I have completed a commission I will then contact the next person on my waiting list.

Quote for the week…… ‘Down but NOT Out’ unfortunately on Sunday I had a fall out hacking which resulted in a CT scan and x -rays as I had very bad concussion and as it turns out a fractured arm. Having been scooped up by amazing friends and family I was ready to tackle the week of garden design and planting installation in Burnham Market that had been booked in for weeks, not only was I able to remember the plant names but with the help of an incredible team we got the garden planted to schedule and looking as fab as I had hoped. Not to let that stop us we then stopped off on the way home to pick up the mighty bales of hay from down the road as there was no way I could do it on my own. Thank you again to everyone who are keeping the yard running and the horses happy, I will be back on the yard tomorrow getting under everyone’s feet!

Looking through the old photos, much loved memories from the early 2000’s Bon Bon my 14.3hh grey mare, a xc machine skipping round a Novice, Fred who took me round Pony Club Opens for a summer and the unforgettable Dancing Flame who gave me the most incredible time thanks to her owner, the main arena at Hickstead was certainly a buzz!!

Bit of a change to Indie, this is Alby who has now been with me 6 weeks and had his first jump in the school, probably ever! Ex NH and point to point horse he only really has fast or slow gears at the moment so trying to teach him that we have a few more options, lovely chap!

Today was grid work day and Indie took it all in her stride, lovely little trio of bounces to set us up, with an upright to a parallel to finish, what a feeling!!! Thanks to Jackie and Emily for your help today which included a lot of pole moving and excellent videoing, couldn’t do it without you 🤩

Such a talent here but she doesn’t always believe in herself, so it was just what we needed today at Aston Le Walls, an opportunity to pick and choose comfort zone vs pressure zone. We could get going over some of the smaller options to then have a really good go at some of the larger fences. Indie finds the biggest challenge is simply navigating new terrain so to be able to canter round a fab course with natural obstacles for her brain to engage with was a brilliant exercise 👌

So off we went to Aston Le Walls today for their training event and it was fantastic! Never been before but I will be back, people and venue were excellent, incredible facilities and a day created for confidence building!!

One from the past, Totty was bred by my mum out of my little TB event mare and came to stay in Norfolk for a few years, this was her at Little Downham a few years back. She is now living life back with Mum in Hampshire

Firm friends from the off, I try really hard to make sure I introduce new horses into the yard thoughtfully to reduce the stress of changing homes and finding new herd dynamics, it would seem I got this one right first time which is a delight. Very content straight away with no need for anyone to assert themselves, helped of course by the abundance of grass this summer has given us
