It's been a while since I've taken part in , so hopefully, for new faces here, it gives you a bit more of an idea of who is behind The Lilac Ladybird!

Day 1 is storytime!

My name is Jo, I'm 37 and am happily married with two lovely children and we live in Surrey, UK.

My background is in science, but I have always enjoyed crafting as a form of relaxation ever since childhood. I have many fond memories of spending time with my maternal grandmother in Brazil while she had a crochet or knitting project on the go. I tried knitting, but it never quite clicked, and then I learnt to crochet by watching lots of youtube videos in 2015 while pregnant with my youngest and haven't looked back since! Fast forward a few years when my eldest started school, and The Lilac Ladybird was born!

This week has flown by. I can't believe there's only one more week of school before this half term is done. I've come down with a cold this week as it's that time of year with all the winter bugs, but I'm on the mend now, so all good! I'm loving all the signs of spring around and the longer days.

The 2nd photo was the beautiful sunset on my way to my daughter's swimming lesson yesterday 😍

This morning, I had a mum fail moment, Emilia got dressed into her uniform instead of her pe kit and I didn't notice until we walked past one of her friends outside school and Callum asked her aren't you supposed to be in pe kit today?! Thankfully, we don't live far from school, and once I'd calmed her down, I went back home for the right clothes. 🤦‍♀️I really need to find a way to sleep better!

Hope you've all had a better start to the morning than I did!

Happy national hug day! Here's all the Animal Cacti friends together.

Had my parents over for lunch yesterday and am currently on the way to my in laws to celebrate my brother in law's birthday and also a belated Christmas celebration with them as I missed Christmas day and Boxing day due to being ill!

I'm not enjoying this cold snap at the moment. Had to defrost the car twice this morning as the warm water I used had refrozen on the windscreen by the time I'd finished the rest of the windows! 🤦‍♀️

Here's the 2nd of my mini cacti range. Koalas were my favourite when I was little. I had a cuddly koala that I took everywhere until it fell apart 🙈

Happy Friday! Here's the 1st of my new range of mini cacti that don't require any watering! I love plants, however, houseplants don't always like me as I often forget to water them 🙈

Happy New Year. Hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Mine didn't quite go to plan this year as I was unwell and spent Christmas day and boxing day in bed! Ah well, I'm all good now and back in my crochet room with the kids back at school.

There are lots of new products in the pipeline for this year. The 1st of which is my football dreamcatcher. My eldest is back to football training tonight for his team, but given how cold it is, I think I might send him with Frank! 😂🙈

Well, that was a whirlwind. I'm so grateful for all your favourites, shares, and purchases of my animal baubles, which have been a popular purchase. The run-up to Christmas has been a super busy one this year for my little business. Most orders are now at their destinations. The last few went in the post today, and I am ready for a break!

It's been a busy weekend with football, a party, fireworks display and collecting our new (to us!) car! We all got rather soggy watching the fireworks but thankfully we were able to light the log burner when we got home to warm up!

My little girl adores cats despite us having a dog and keeps trying to persuade us to add a cat to our family. Given that Cooper likes to chase cats, I dont think that would be the best idea! I think for now, this mini flower cat dreamcatcher will have to suffice! 😂

The dreamcatcher is attached to a 15cm hoop so is a smaller version of the others in my shop.

Hope your Monday is going well. Nearly school run time and then we take a child each to their activities; Aerial Silks for Emilia and Football training for Callum!

My latest unicorn dream catcher made in shades of duck egg, yellow, pink, white and purple. I made this one with a spiral horn which I adore! It's available in my etsy shop and can be made in different colours if you would prefer.

Easter holidays flew by with a few playdates, some day trips and a visit to see friends in North Wales too.

This time in 2 weeks time my eldest will be off on his 1st residential trip with school. They are away for 2 nights and are going to an activity centre in Kent. He's very excited although did have a slight wobble about being away earlier this week!
