I had my first overnight stay this weekend with 3/5 of the Woof Whistles gang - Stormzy, Poppy & Lucky! 🏡 We enjoyed lots of cuddles, sniffy walks and explored the gorgeous forest nearby in the sunshine! 🌞🌳
This pet sit was shared with the wonderful Chris from Willow's Walks and Dog Services who was booked for the second night of the sit. We love working with our fellow dog businesses! 🧡

What a week!! Alice fell into a river, accidentally got knocked flying by a very big boy and winded herself and got padlocked in a field with cows by mistake 🙈

However it’s been the most gorgeous sunny week with all our four legged friends, and it’s seen some new friendships blossom which makes up for the other parts 🤣

My girl Connie joined me for two hours this morning for walks with Milo, Buddy & Gwen. Safe to say she was tired when she got home as she spent her afternoon snoozing in the plant pot 🤣🪴

Turk and Mollie both did so well on their socialisation walks through town.
Although they might look very similar their personalities are very different.
Turk can find new people and situations worrying. Whilst Mollie can find them over exciting and too interesting!!
By using positive reinforcement and some fun games en route both dogs stayed engaged with us and most importantly stayed relaxed.
They were so relaxed in fact that we had several people asking to stroke them and a couple of people who attempted to stroke them without asking permission!
We said no because we were working on Turk and Mollie taking in their environment but importantly, staying engaged and focused on us.
Even if you have a super friendly dog, if you allow every interaction with everyone who requests it, then your dog will start to expect to be able to say hello to everyone they meet, which is not always appropriate.
Don’t be afraid to advocate for your dog 🐾

Thought my day couldn’t get worse than me leaning on a branch, the branch snaps and causing me to slide on my bum down into a river leaving me covered in mud and soaking wet? Think again! 🤣

Got home, changed into some dry clothes (braved some shorts!) and went about my day… until my lunchtime group walk when I end up having a 45kg ish Doberman accidentally run full pelt into my legs, sending me flying face/stomach down onto the ground and leaving me winded, covered in scrapes and very very sore 🙈

I think the universe took April Fools Day too far this year!! I’m taking the day off work next year 🤣

Anyway… here’s some piccies of some of today’s dogs which somewhat makes up for the nightmare of a day!!

Ted did so well again today with his loose lead walking and his recall from a “wait”. He also did brilliantly with his “stay” cue( consistently staying for over a minute) but definitely prefers a speedy recall from a “wait”.
I don’t think his tail stopped wagging for the whole training session!!

Bruno did brilliantly with his verbal recall training and also started,as you can see from the video, doing lots of voluntary/automatic recall.
This is when your dog chooses to come right back to you when you haven’t even called them. This was a real breakthrough for Bruno as he’d never been in this field before, especially as he was having a great time exploring all of his favourite rabbit, squirrel and pheasant scents.
He was choosing to come back and check in with us because we’ve consistently been using positive reinforcement (HIGH value treats, toys and lots of praise) every time we’ve verbally recalled Bruno.
We’ve also then let him go back to have more fun, rather than calling him back once at the end of the walk.
Well done Bruno🐾👏❤️

These two gorgeous boys met for the first time today. They had a great time exploring and playing together. It was also great for recall that they’re both called Arlo😆🐾❤️ ~ Paul

Young Ted did so well in his training session today. He loves all of the more energetic parts of the training such as loose lead walking, recall, engagement games and even “wait” into a recall. However a boring “stay” has not been easy for him but today he was consistently managing up to a minute. Well done Ted👏❤️🐾 ~ Paul

Molly & Jakey are such good pals, they first met last summer and absolutely love playing together 🥺 Sammy was just happy trotting along doing his own thing 🤣

I thought I’d bring you along for a day of dog walking with me! Who reckons Paul should film one next? (I don’t think he gets as muddy as me though 🤣) 🗓️ Tues 9am - 4pm Alice 🐾
