Please beware of Jayne Coffey claiming her horse is missing or stolen from my yard. This horse is not missing or stolen - she stopped paying for it, has refused to even check on the horse or attend to its basic needs from the day she moved here as well as stolen various things from liveries and myself including my lorry keys, various parts from it and other vehicles on the farm. Her partner scammed several people out of money to repair vehicles and never did the repairs so based on all of the above they were told to leave. They have abandoned the horse here and have refused to pay the outstanding money due for looking after it, police are aware and content with how its all been handled. She's recently text to say she didn't want the horse anymore as it's no use to her and she would buy a better one so just keep it but she's now making threats to burn the stables down or bomb the place which have also been reported to the police.

This sort of post is not usually my style however everyone who actually knows what's happened said this is right thing to do so here goes.

Faith looking good with a fresh clip and mane tidy. At this time of year as the weather gets colder the horses grow thick coats to keep them warm. Unfortunately this can cause problems with the skin underneath getting scabby or heat rash from sweating while they are worked so we clip the excess hair off to keep them comfortable. Faith is prone to scabby skin so I was pleased to see this year that her coat underneath was looking healthy and full of shine

Still looking for someone to share my mare. Shes a 16hh friesian and is very good natured. She enjoys schooling or hacking, lunges well and will long rein. Prefers company to hack but will go herself if pushed on she just looks at everything! Shes fantastic out in company and will go over the river, open gates with you on or stand for you to clamber back on from a rock/fence/the ground. To stay onsite, financial contribution and a share of chores. We have excellent facilities including indoor school and superb hacking surrounding the yard. Any riders looking for a safe and sane horse to hack out? Lewis would love to find someone to take him out for hacks around our local trails. He is so safe and sensible you could put your granny on (I'm not even joking, one of our sharers has her granny riding him!) Hes an older chap who has had a successful and varied career so not wanting to be jumped (hes been and done it) but still loves his work and is in no way ready to slow down. He loves being up the front of the ride or will head out alone. Usually company to ride out with and spoilt for choice with lots of stunning hacking around the yard. He is solid in traffic and very rarely looks at anything, can be strong doing fast work but never silly and is nicknamed Mr Reliable often being my go to to lead my kids or youngsters out from. 17hh warmblood, financial contribution required and a share of chores when your up as he loves his stable! Yard has indoor school for wet days and schooling field, toilet and kitchen facilities.

What do we do at Castlemains Equestrian?

Well Castlemains is a family run yard that offers livery as well as quality horses and ponies available for part share and occasionally sale. We specialize in assessing horses in all aspects of handling and riding to allow us to then provide each horse with further training and schooling where required. This then enables us to be able to offer a thorough description of each horse for suitability to potential new homes or for part share.

At Castlemains Equestrian we feel incredibly lucky that we get to do what we love and enjoy taking our time on each horse to really get to know them in the hope of finding them their long term home. Every horse is an individual with their own personality and experiences just like humans and therefore we like to treat them as such!

Ruby is available to a kind and knowledgable new 🏡 she is a very pretty mare standing about 14hh just turned 4 years old. She has a fabulous temperament and is very easy to work away with. Has had all basics done with her including groundwork, lunging, long reining and has been led out out on the road from another horse with rider on board then turned away to grow up and mature. Price reflects her still needing work at 3🥕🥕🥕.Microchipped and passported.

Faith is our 16hh Friesian mare.
She is a lovely lady who enjoys some pampering and knows her schooling well.
She loves hacking but does need a confident rider.

Stunning cob Stella has been working away with the team since she arrived learning all about catching in from the field, being groomed, handled and what wearing tack is all about. Shes been very clever about the whole process and we are very pleased with her progress and attitude to starting her ridden career. She will probably be turned away over the winter with some of our other youngstock and older mares once she has a bit more mileage under her belt to let her mull over what shes learned as well as grow and mature. One to watch for the future!

Space opening on a Thursday night to join our riding club. Can you walk, trot and canter but maybe don't have experience hacking or would like to get hands on experience in tacking up, grooming and generally handling a horse as well as making new friends? BHS instructor onsite for lessons as well should you wish.

Then this could be the perfect opportunity for you! Our experienced staff will be on hand to guide you through essential ground skills and a hack in our stunning routes surrounding the yard.

Our rescue hens have settled in really well and are enjoying their new home at Castlemains. They have really started to trust us coming over now for a cuddle and are loving foraging in the grass during the day. We have a limited number of fresh free range eggs available for sale at £2.50 for 6. Bill and Jerry enjoying giving each other a good groom but why do they do this? When a horse groom another horse we call this Mutual Grooming. These behaviours are a very important activity as it helps create bonds within a herd. Mutual grooming sessions can release "Feel Good" hormones for horses so not only is it getting an itch they cannot reach it makes them feel good too!
