Dragged the dogs up Ben More & donated toenail to Highlands on Xmas Day. They disowned me… until Christmas lamb chops appeared 😃
This year we took the festive season a bit differently…
And by we, I mean my dogs and myself — the most unhinged but lovable travel squad.
Milo joined us, and we headed up to our favourite place on Earth: Scotland. 🇸🇨✨
Visiting one of Mary, Queen of Scots’ castles on Christmas Day (which is Christmas Day back home in Slovakia!) felt absolutely magical.
Standing in the room where she gave birth to her son James VI …walking the same halls she walked… seeing the crown and coronation pieces — pure history goosebumps.
And this part made the visit even more special:
Mary’s great-grandson, King Charles II, was obsessed with the little spaniels that later became known as King Charles Spaniels.
He loved them so much that they followed him everywhere — in council meetings, in his bedchamber, through palaces… basically, he was the original “crazy dog parent.”
The breed ended up being named after him because he couldn’t go anywhere without a pack of them.
So taking my dogs there felt like a royal dog pilgrimage. 👑🐶
After that, I took the doggies to Edinburgh University so they could learn to be more mature…
but luckily for them, it was closed.
(They handled their academic disappointment with impressive enthusiasm.)
Edinburgh hits different — the history, the buildings, the drama.
It reminded me so much of my hometown… except with more tartan and significantly fewer flat pavements.
Merry rest of Christmas from the mad house
