As the seasons change again and summer merges into Autumn, the SPPOT Team have been enjoying our weekly Withybush Woods walk.

This time, newbies Erin and Sam came along and learnt all about the walk and the wildlife from Isabel and Ellie

Meanwhile Winston and Pabi enjoyed the sounds and scents and stayed well away from the water and the wildfowl

We hear so often about dogs who just destroy interactive toys, but it's important to teach them how to use them.

After all, you wouldn't give a child a cricket bat and ball or a chess board without some guidance and supervision (hopefully 😄)

At SPPOT, we have such a companionable group of dogs that we can use it as a gentle group activity, on a very warm day.

It looks like a room full of enrichment activities - which it is; but by having activities at different heights and angles, with different surfaces underfoot, it becomes a more challenging sensory experience.

It also offers canine professionals and care givers the chance to observe dogs' posture and gait which can indicate underlying pain and discomfort and possible causes of behaviour changes.

A lovely busy Monday at SPPOT dog daycare and dog walking today.

Pattern Games, tunnel, weaves and jumps, nature walks, then an introduction to ACE Freework, demonstrated in these photos.

Several community based dog walks were completed, housekeeping checklist done, liver cake made and four new staff are a little further through their induction training AND our display boards have been prepped for the County Show!

Great work Team SPPOT, get some sleep as Tuesday will be just as busy 😀😆🤣

Music and dancing is really good for you, which is why Kath, our team well-being person, got everyone dancing after lunch again. YMCA though guys, really? It's easy to see why Mabel was looking on, so bemused 🤣

It doesn't have to be very warm for Mabel to take a dip in any water but our Oz-man went in today as well. If you listen carefully you can hear one of Tracy's lovely made-up songs about dogs and how they help people 🤩🥰❤️🥰🤩

A fun day's training today with a room full of trainees and very willing dogs. This looks pretty chaotic but what's happening is several off lead dogs are choosing to trot alongside any/every person, which was great 😃

SPPOT is a unique social enterprise offering dogs and their human families, a highly affordable, award winning dog walking service across Pembrokeshire and high quality daycare for dogs.

We are able to embed positive reward based training into our dog walking and daycare services, because all our staff and volunteers are themselves qualified and accredited in dog care, training and welfare.

SPPOT is an Agored Cymru Recognised Centre, delivering accredited training courses in canine training and welfare for adults and young people who experience barriers to work and education. This enables trainees to become part of SPPOT’s team as Volunteer Dog Walkers who walk dogs all over Pembrokeshire and K9 Keyworkers who volunteer their time at our dedicated headquarters in Haverfordwest providing high quality daycare for dogs.

The dog walking & daycare are offered at a competitive rates for the general public with a significant concession for vulnerable people in the community. Thus we can bring together the needs of two people, through shared care of a dog, benefiting both people and the dog. Dogs are scientifically proven to be of significant health and social benefit to people, therefore SPPOT’s progressive enterprise model will reduce dependence on health and social care services which are already under strain. People also have the capacity to reduce the suffering and neglect of dogs.
