Just a reminder that you should never leave a dog in a vehicle. Apart from the risk of theft, it’s also a significant health risk.

PD Edna (in the driving seat) and her colleague PD Rodney have been enjoying the air con with this warm weather we’ve been having. However, they wanted us to remind you that hot cars are no place for dogs.

Even in fairly modest heat like this, parked cars will quickly become dangerously hot - and opening the windows makes almost no difference. Temperatures have been hotting up over the last few weeks, with yellow heat warnings being shared and talk of today possibly being the hottest day of the year so far!

If you see a dog in distress in a hot car - call 999 so our (human) officers can come and sort it. Get some more advice from our Dog Legislation Officers at the link in the comments.

Dog found in Stratford upon Avon. Do you know anyone who’s missing her?

Has anyone lost a dog by any chance? If she’s not claimed in half an hour, she will be given a collar number and a uniform… we have taken to calling this lovely girl Pickle… we’re currently en route to the vets to get her scanned. Wish us luck!

Despite being banned over 200 years ago, dog fighting is described as “rife” and could be happening in a “warehouse or garage near you”.

This article is a harrowing read but it explains the reality of dogs given away for free.

It can also be the reason behind dog theft.

Please be aware of the risk of dog theft. It doesn’t matter whether your dog is young, old, neutered/spayed or entire.

Are you, or do you know of someone, missing two cockatoos? They may have been lost or stolen, and although they’ve been found in East Anglia, they could originate from anywhere.

The state of these two is heartbreaking. We can only imaging what they’ve endured 💔

The RSPCA is appealing for help to find the owner of two cockapoos who were found wandering on their own.

If you recognise them, get in touch with the RSPCA.

Please PLEASE put your dog back on the lead when near cliffs. Dogs aren’t able to see hazards the way we do.

It’s our job to keep them safe.

What has this dog endured in those 7 years? We’re glad she’s finally been reunited with her family, but we stand by our mantra that Prevention Is Better Than Found.

Don’t leave your dogs unattended, folks, even if they’re in your own garden.
