And back .. finally am able to return to photo posts, the photos from some of the previous sessions will follow soon.

Lovely morning for a trail. Lovely people, lovely dogs with a range of experience.

We worked on road crossings, crossroad decision making, all trails were extended to develop longer trails.

We had numerous distractions such as wildlife, humans, humans walking dogs, cars, each of which meant each team were tested continuously throughout all their trails. This really was a demonstration of the .

What I love is when the dog/team have nailed the trail and their confidence afterwards almost dwarfs how knackered they are.

Kathleen who? Seems Storm Kathleen made little or no impact whatsoever, in fact some were dressed in T Shirts.
A lovely morning, moisture, a tad bit of drizzle and the occasional appearance from the sun.

We had our first intro for a while with Team Mabel who took to the Mantrailing so well. A great start to her Mantrailing mission, showing how easy the scent targeting was.

The teams worked on handshake start, car seat start, seated on a rock start. They encountered surface transitions, forest bark, mud, gravel, grass, puddles and road crossing, with the moisture on the ground providing a really good solid scent trap.

We saw from the teams some great decision making at junctions and crossroads with plenty of wildlife, off lead dog, and human distractions.

Toady was very much about ensuring a solid start, refraining from happy feet, accidental jolts and tugs on the line and allowing the dog to sniff and explore the environment during the scent inventory.

Well done teams thank you for trailing with and .

Look at the stars, look how they shine for you.
Today is for you, our dogs in yellow.
This day is for our wonderful friends.
A day where you can be celebrated from a distance, just the way you like it.
A day where we tell the world about how special you are and help others to understand your wonder.
A day where the stars shine bright yet silent, for we know how much you may hate sudden noises.
A day where we appreciate beauty in the still, for movement can make you wary.
A day where we just be and enjoy your presence.
A day where nobody will come anywhere near you, unless you want them to.
Happy day
We love you 💛

WET WET WET .. seriously if the was an award for Mantrailing addict this bunch of trailers faced the onslaught of 4 hours of wet drizzle with swirling ever changing wind.

Spirits were definitely up and the trailing was quite phenomenal and improved even more when the wind calmed down. We got to see some of the dogs trailing was improved because of the wet conditions and even more so when the wind calmed down.

We saw some fantastic self casting and some real brain power being used by the dogs as they worked out the junctions or realised they had been trailing a blown scent. Seeing them react and deal with the realisation they need to find the scent trail was a joy to see.

We had road crossings, open spaces, junctions, surface and environmental changes, combined with traffic distractions as well their brains were working overtime with great success. Then, to really add to it all, discarded food on the floor to add temptation.

Thank you for all you commitment and dedication trailers this was a fantastic session .

Blue skys were on the card on Sunday turned into a GSP day with honorary special guest wirehaired Vizsla Chedders making a very special appearance.

Confidence was high with all the teams experiencing some tricky footpath junctions and random dog and horse distractions, all executed beautifully.

This was a fun session with beginners demonstrating how once, their work clothes were on their auto work mindset switches from giddy puppy to work mode instantly.

The teams practiced their split starts, junctions and showed some superb decision making.

A fun packed morning with some fantastic humans and dogs.

Well done everyone and thank you for trailing with

Sun was on the cards on Sunday all be it with all the wet and deep mud left by the previous week.
Distractions galore at this gorgeous picnic site in families, dogs and moving vehicles to name a few.

We worked on ages trails combined with length for the experienced teams trailing through woodland and its footpaths as well as by and along a river, with confidence and intensity building as well introduction delayed starts for the novices. We also introduced a new stranger to human nervous dogs, delayed starts for the new and progressing teams, walking finds and a scent article start from a tree the runner has sat in . We also had the awesome introduction of a new puppy.

So a full morning showing how we can adapt to the nuances, progression and individual requirements of the different teams, providing the demonstrating the

Some great words here from Dora's handler and owner Leanne.
Dora is a prime example of the power of Mantrailing to overcome elements which make nervous and wary dogs the way they are and even to help bury those traits forever.
Mantrailing gives your working line dog "a job" and an additional purpose to their life and experiences, but not only that it helps build confidence, self belief and helps build bonding between owner and dog.

Be like team Dora find joy in Mantrailing and register for an introduction workshop in March with Bay k9 Mantrailing.

White Lund Wednesday was a fantastic session. An industrial environment, with lots of distractions, wagons, road crossings. It was interesting to see how the dogs worked on the most productive source as well as using the building lines to follow the scent.

Well what an inspiring day Sunday was, we were graced with the return of Tally 11 years old and what a performance this was after a very long break, Tally instantly remembered his job. We used a bit of intensity elongated with a hunters trail and smashed the morning.
The other teams encountered varying breeze and cloud, plenty of moisture and were able to demonstrate their abilities in what they have learnt so far.
Lots of distractions for all such as moving traffic , pedestrians and cyclists.
Well done teams .

Here we go ... and back on the trails for the first time in 2024.
Wet and stormy weather did not sway these enthusiastic .
An urban environment with bicycles, pedestrians and dog walkers, wide open area into supermarkets.
A real challenge for the teams experiencing walking finds, over the wall finds heavy traffic and road crossings.
This really put the experience and knowledge gained since trailing with us at to the test which all dogs smashed .

Great Sunday morning was had by all. It was the day of the puppies plus 2 more experienced dogs. 2 of the puppies 20 and 16 weeks old were on their 2nd-5th sessions and are demonstrating some amazing decision making with 90degree turns, surface transitions and trailing in the vicinity of cars and pedestrians.

Puppy no.3 was on their introduction to Mantrailing, it was quite amazing to see the game click so quickly with all the puppies. Our focus will be to maintain this by not rushing distance and components too quickly.

The experienced dogs rose to the challenges set today. A focus on line handling was key here as handling skills need to to up to scratch in urban environments especially.

Lots of distractions, such humans, cars, lots of litter as always, cobbled streets and a parade of around 50 people who literally passed right on to and over the lates trail.

The drive displayed by all the teams was amazing, they love this game and want to win, achieve and unlock what the game offers to to build on their life skills. With one team building their confidence around human beings. Her confidence was a little lower than the last urban session, but with sheer determination she smashed the trail passing numerous humans and finding her reward. She has come on in an amazing way and is a "goose pimpling" joy to see and is a fantastic demonstration of the

I am super proud of all the teams.

This morning we trailed on The Farleton Knott. The weather changed as fast as you could change into waterproof and a back again. Swirling changeable winds, rain, drizzle and yes some sunshine.

Some superbly executed trails from the team, some great handling and negative recognitions.

The more novice teams had surface transitions, gate indications and some quite tricky junctions to add the their experience and skill set.

The more experienced teams experienced all of the above but also some difficult decision making with behaviours showing how ground scent, air scent and scent pools are negotiated, when ages trail with swirly changeable winds on open areas are encountered.

This really was a great morning with handlers and myself learning plenty whilst, refining and making some difficult negotiation of terrain and new situations.

Well done teams . Thank you for trailing with

A great session yesterday, working on some split trails for the experienced teams and hunters trail for the puppy.

The teams experienced surface transitions and very prominent wildlife smells superbly ignored by all the teams with their constant focus being on searching for human beings.

Some fantastic casting and ruling out on small cross road junctions..

A great session with some great teams.

The more advanced teams showed off their skills with bench finds , laid down finds and walking finds.

It was a nice warm ish evening , the suns was bit over the evening the wind really started to pick up off the shore throwing challenges for the teams. .

Yesterday we trailed in and around Lancaster town centre, this is something which we have built up on over time with our teams. handlers need to be prepared and have experience enough to manage and control the dog in busy public places. This is a massive skill to undertake especially with dogs who are nervous of humans, however the nervous dogs completely smashed their trails.

We had - pelican crossings, road crossings, pedestrians, busy traffic, scent pools, lots of enthusiasm and enjoyment from everyone.

This session felt like a real milestone not just as an instructor but also showing the progression and confidence which has been gained by the teams and just how much fun and enjoyment the handlers and the dogs had.

Well done everyone, great to see line handling is improving.

Thank for trailing with Bay K9 Mantrailing …

Over the last two Sundays we have explored urban trailing with some teams having no experience and the rest just a little. @ had road crossings , walking finds , traffic and pedestrians to trail past and along side, bridge crossing, handle darts with one team nervous of humans trailed straight past when down an alley, this was with some trepidation but just goes to show .

The amazing K9 Dora during her Mantrailing journey has gradually learnt and is still learning how to be closer and trust humans, yes that bunch of fools 😂

During June she has trailing Lancaster town centre down alleyways cautiously passed a human. On Sunday she managed to patiently wait her turn to trail from the back of the vehicle whilst children and parents arrive to play a football match.

After her second trail a family with children and soda played rounders whilst Dora waited for the end of the session.

What an amazing achievement has really helped progress the confidence of this gorgeous focused amazing trail dog, the handler ain’t doing to bad either she too learning the “behaviour” of the handler to provide a more efficient exercise.
