The last week has really been all over the place with the weather but yet, for once , the sessions kept the weather at bay.
After a couple of months break due to ill health the teams trailed like it was only last week. Sometimes I wonder, as in life, a break serves everyone well.
Two sessions filled with distraction such as traffic, cyclists (I can't understand what cyclists issues are in USING THEIR BLOODY BELLS), joggers, off lead dogs, on lead dogs, scent distractions, it really is endless. Give the distractions the teams worked really well.
We discovered just how easy it can be for the dogs to resort to using eyes if only from habit of the runner be distinctively obvious when hiding, not that this is always the case.
For the next couple of months we WILL be learning to be the misper you want others to be when your team trails.
Well done teams
Nika and I jumped in the wondershazz and trotted down to trail with Kathryn at Trailing K9's.
With Kathryn's expert guidance, knowledge and keen eye I was able to see and experience some of Nika's tiny nuance switches, some of which are so subtle, but the importance of recognising early enough can help to avoid wandering of piste for ages hunting for the trail.
Getting back to trailing has been awesome this week, a great session at Scorton and a session today in Oswestry.
If your are ever in the Oswestry and Shropshire area I highly recommend grabbing yourself with a session with Kathryn.
Thanks @trailingk9s .
Fantastic to be back and What a lovely day for Mantrailing yesterday, plenty of wet everywhere, but this did not deter today's trailers.
Moving vehicles, road crossings, a gate, off lead dog, finds by running river, squirrel distractions , a very still breeze all gave these awesome teams lots of challenges for the morning.
Environmental conditioning.
This is a very useful experience for Nika for the future.
JCB pecker taking off the surface of the old tarmac, this was very noisy, prior to this Nika had a No.2, she was happy to stand and watch. She also went in the vicinity of the idling tarmac wagon and workers who she was happy to meet.
Nika is doing really well in the different environments we have encountered, great confidence and happy to carry on doing her own thing.
What a lovely evening for a trailing session in Pilling. We had the introduction to Mantrailing for 1 team , where Edith show amazing skills at adapting to the game, fantastic drive and enthusiasm. The more advanced teams showed off their skills with bench finds , laid down finds and walking finds.
It was a nice warm ish evening , the suns was bit over the evening the wind really started to pick up off the shore throwing challenges for the teams. .
Well done teams and thanks for trailing with Bay K9.
Kind words, thank you @dora_mabel_gspexplorers
