Congratulations to Rhona who has successfully passed her AMTRA exams. She now is a qualified Registered Animal Medicines Advisor for farm, equine and companion animals.

Congratulations also to Ellie who sat part of her AMTRA exams before she left for her travels and passed. Ellie will continue with her studies on her return in September.

Well done again girls, we are all very proud of you both 🥳👏🥂🍾🏆

🐌🪱 Worm and fluke testing 🪱🐌

We have recently purchased the Ovacyte worm egg and fluke machine for horses, sheep and cattle.
This machine gives same day results and will identify if a worm or fluke burden is present and if any treatment is required. We can also check faecal samples post drenching to monitor product efficacy and identify any resistance

❗️SCOPS has issued a Very High Risk warning for Nematodirus for our area❗️

🐑 Symptoms in lambs can include diarrhoea, depression, dehydration and loss of body condition

🪱 Conanvet offer in-house worm egg and fluke testing, which can identify nematodirus along with other species with same day results available

During the grazing season, performing faecal egg counts (FEC) every three to four weeks is recommended to accurately highlight worm burdens and therefore help you keep on top of worm control.

What are the benefits of frequent testing?
🪱 Avoids treating for worms when there isn’t a problem, reducing risk of resistance build-up
🪱 Reduces cost of unnecessary treatment
🪱 Allows potential problems to be nipped in the bud
