🐾 **The Importance of Listening to Your Dog🐾

Yesterday Wolfy and I went for a walk - almost….well a very short walk. We got out of the car and a few yards down the track Wolfy found a scent that took as back towards the car. We tried again. This time we walked for 5 minutes came around the corner and he stopped to look at me. He turned around and headed back towards the car again. In a very determined fashion, straight up the ramp to his crate! He clearly told me I’m not up for the walk today Mum so we went home to chill.

We could have pushed on, but what’s the point. His communication was very clear so I chose to listen (even if he did have to tell me twice!) Maybe he hated the rain, maybe he was stiff from his fitness session, maybe something was wrong in the environment. Who knows🤷‍♀️What I do know is the message was clear, let’s not walk today.

We got back home and Wolfy went to his bed for a long, luxurious snooze, with a comfort boot!

Dogs are constantly communicating with us, whether through their body language, behaviour, or the way they interact with the world. It’s so important to listen and pay attention to what they’re trying to tell us, as it can deepen the bond we share and help us understand their needs better.

Whether it’s a certain look, a bark, or the way they move, our dogs are always giving us signals. Have you noticed how your dog communicates with you recently? 🐶

Such a great time working with Becca & Pinto. Other trainers had suggested aversive tools to "train'" a loose leash - at Stressless we suggest meet your dog's needs and create value where you want them to be. Keep environments easy while they are learning so you set up for success. And most importantly keep it fun - Stressless when you are training!

Had a fun filled training session with the gorgeous Lola and the wonderful family who rescued her. She is looking so happy and has clearly landed on her paws as her people are 100% committed to her. Working with Rosie and her two gorgeous girls has been so much fun.
They have definitely put my brain into stretch mode to unpick their struggles.
Their mum is doing an awesome job in helping Mango settle into her new home and also helping both girls adjust to eachother and the dynamic of living in a multi dog household.

I can't wait for our next session to help them move even further forward.

Working on disengagement from distractions yesterday. Dinks really really wanted to go and investigate what was in the big white bag that appeared overnight. After a couple of minutes of engagement & fun she had level 4 / Physical and mental disengagement from the bag 😍😍😍 She still doesn't know what's in it 🤣 Super girl Dinky Dog 🤗

Her snoring was incredible. Thank goodness our dogs don't have cameras, the payback would be horrendous 🤣🤣🤣

Just chilling. How does your pup like to relax?

When we are teaching our dogs it's so tempting to keep making things more difficult, adding more duration, more distractions, more distance. Keeping things fun and having plenty of easy wins mixed in will keep your dog wanting more. I know myself that if things are always difficult I want to call it a day at the end of the task and I might not want to tackle another until I have to. But if I have a balance with some easy wins, it's more fun and I want another go. Go back revisit the early levels, your dog will love.
