💊ANTIBIOTIC AMNESTY 2023 💊
Throughout November 2023, veterinary practices including us at Glaven are taking part in Antibiotic Amnesty where you as clients can return unused or partially unused antibiotics to us for safe disposal.
Why we are asking for you to return your antibiotics to us?
This is to prevent contamination to the environment and to help prevent antimicrobial resistance because of inappropriate disposal of medication
Please find attached a video and further information on Antibiotic Amnesty

We hope each and every one of you and your pets have a loved and appreciated day 💗
Don’t forget to keep your chocolate and floral gifts out of your pets reach
Spaniel puppy River came to see us yesterday. While out playing on a walk she began sneezing and had a nose bleed. Vet Catherine had a look up her nose and removed a long piece of hay that had got stuck.
Grass seeds
Grass seeds!
We see a lot of dogs at this time of year with grass seeds stuck in their paws. The seeds get caught in the fur, and then over a few days burrow into the feet. The seeds are barbed, so they can only move forward, and over time can travel under the skin and move up the dog's legs. This is very painful, and dogs are often lame, chewing at their feet and the area becomes very infected. If you think your dog may have a grass seed, please call us on 01263 713200.
May is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month!
Our fantastic nurses do so much work behind the scenes that you never get to see. So each year in May, we say an extra big thank you to all our wonderful nurses who spend so much time helping all the pets.
Veterinary nurse jobs include looking after hospitalised pets, monitoring anaesthesia, running nurse clinics for checks after operations, vaccinations, weight clinics, behavioural work, taking blood, laboratory work, x-rays and much more!
An Easter Emergency!
We have had an exciting Easter emergency today! A mummy Easter Egg came in having trouble giving birth to her baby eggs.
Mummy Easter Egg had a special caesarean to retrieve all the eggs, then was released back into the wild when she had recovered. We made this video to show you what happened.
