‼️Update‼️As of today I’m no longer in business. Mollys Mutts was my gap year project after finishing my masters degree in September 2022. However it’s now time for me to return back to academia and get started with my PhD.

It’s been a pleasure working with so many different dogs and owners this past year, and I’ll never forget any of the dogs I’ve worked with ❤️.

Thank you to all my clients, this business wouldn’t have made it without you all. I will still be available for advice if anyone ever needs it 🙂

This post marks the end of an era! It’s been a pleasure 🐶see you around! 👋🏻

An important part of addressing any behavioural issues is to prioritise decompression time at least once a week to help regulate the dogs nervous system and help them come back down from big emotions. This is especially important when trigger stacking has taken place.

Sometimes it takes 24 hours or more for a dogs nervous system to come back down to homeostasis and during that time the dog needs to be relaxed, comfortable and feel safe instead of stressed out and on edge all the time.

So when taking dogs out on walks sometimes we’ll be doing behaviour mod sessions but other times we’ll ensure the dog never has to come into contact with triggers at any distance so they get to enjoy their surroundings and explore stress free, building confidence in their environment without worrying about unexpected guests.

Like with Boris here, some days I would take him out and we’d go deep into the forrest so he could enjoy all the sniffs, climb up on things and not be disturbed, or even expose him to new things like deer which he was really interested in!

A beautiful super soft boy🥰

Are you struggling with immense pullers / dogs that wee up every wall they find? This post might help you…

When I first saw Jasper his owners were struggling with walking down the street with him, he was like a freight train that wouldn’t stop until he got where he wanted to go.

As soon as I took him out to see what it was like I immediately knew what the problem was- he was in a rush to investigate every smell on the floor, on the walls, on the grass, on the lamp posts everything, like the world was depending on him to sniff. He was also a big big wall marker, he would pull to sniff and mark people’s driveway walls, literally every single wall.

So we got to work, before we even left the house we worked on engagement with and without his outside gear on, sat at the foot of the door with it open for a while so Jasper could observe calmly without rushing out. Slowing the pace down.

Later once we moved to the outside we worked more on engagement, keeping the walks on the streets short, literally just walking down the immediate street outside the house, practicing eye contact and focus on me to slow him down, letting him sniff every once in a while without pulling. Most importantly we didn’t let Jasper rehash the pulling and marking on walls, if he did seem like he was going to repeat those behaviours we’d go into management mode to prevent him from carrying out the behaviour, this would mean getting his attention and turning around from the wall for example and getting his attention on me.

Eventually we conditioned him to look at the whoever was walking him after he finished his sniff for a treat, instead of marking, as if to say I’m finished now can we move on? We let him sniff, slowed down the pace of walks, stopped every so often, waited for him to offer attention, sometimes requested attention.

The marking decreased whereas the focus and calmness increased, all with a bit of patience, calmness and respect. Now the walks are much easier!

Me and Holly did a little photoshoot a while back🥺

If you’re wondering why I haven’t posted as much I have been trying to sort out the Facebook-Instagram connection as things weren’t posting on Facebook, I have now finally sorted it out after months of faff. I also took a couples of holidays, graduated with a 1st class masters degree and had a social media break as it’s always good for the mind!

Not currently taking any new clients for walks, only 1-1 training sessions. And still always open to give advice🙂

Shelby enjoying her walk this morning without a single reaction!
I worked with her and her owner everyday for 2 weeks to begin a behaviour modification plan for understanding and reducing her reactivity towards dogs, people, runners and bikes.
It’s now been nearly 2 months since Shelby started her journey and she is doing so well, she’s now able to focus on and engage with her owner around triggers, keeping her under threshold enough to be able to walk past dogs on the street which was an impossible task before. Of course they are still working on reactivity training daily, reinforcing calmness around triggers and using management techniques for when Shelby is starting to become over threshold if a trigger is too close.
Shelby is one of my portfolio videos on my website so feel free to watch how we set the foundations for Shelby’s behaviour modification plan. If you’d like to know more about behaviour modification and reactivity training message me 😊

This is Archie, he absolutely loves his ball and it has been a great way to build his recall with me. However he is quite the jumper and always wants to get the ball off of me, so this is one of the things we have been working on during our walk & train sessions. We have been working on Archie’s calmness and steadiness around the ball, we are at the point where I can lower the ball to the ground and Archie will stay in a sit until released to go and retrieve the ball. Archie is beginning to learn that the jumping reduces his chances of getting the ball, instead he needs to keep his feet on the ground and follow some basic commands I give him before being released. He’s doing so well!
All of this has been done without corrections or punishments for the unwanted jumping, instead I’ve been redirecting him onto more desirable behaviours and focusing on rewarding the good behaviours when I see them and he’s slowly learning!

Want to teach your dog cool tricks and how to climb up on stuff? I’m here to help. Here’s my girl Holly showing off as always!

Encouraging dogs to climb up on new exciting things can really boost their confidence, let alone adding a trick into the mix.

All my walks include some form of training, whether it’s trick training or obedience training to intellectually fulfil your dog alongside physical exercise. So what are you waiting for? Dm me today!
