Here’s a look at a recent training session with Luther and Jack. Luther was rescued from a well known rehoming centre but has struggled with his reactivity to other dogs, due to not being socialised properly at the start of his life. He has been known to lunge and bark at dogs if they get too close, which can be stressful for him.
We have been building up Luther’s confidence over time, and in this session we used my demo dog Cairo as a neutral dog to practice approaching or passing. Luther did brilliantly and managed to remain calm as we decreased the distance between the dogs bit by bit. It is thanks to the consistent and devoted work of his owner Jack, putting into practice what we cover in our sessions, that Luther has been coming on leaps and bounds.
